I didn't say that NOW and i just stated it isn't as legendary as maybe Ali's who's losses would have been much worse if he had Roy's chin since he got hit with far more and fare more powerful shots than Roy.

I hear you, but all I am saying is that Jones didnt look "past his prime" in those instances, he looked SHOT

Honestly, I was raising this only as a philosophical discussion

its a moot point because Roy IS shot, IMO and this guy will knock him dead

How about Johnson and Tarver both receive credit for exploiting RJJ's weaknesses equally as well, but with two entirely different approaches?

First, it's simplistic to suggest that all Johnson did was pressure RJJ. He jabbed his way in, moved his head, and landed to the head and body from mid-distance. In this way he was able to dictate the pace of the fight, something that RJJ does not react to well and was at the heart of Johnson's success.

Likewise, Tarver managed to control the pace of his fights with RJJ. He did so as a counter puncher and by keeping RJJ outside, but like Johnson, his ability to control the pace of the fights was at the heart of his success.

This was also true of Calzaghe.

Glenn Johnson, at the point in time that he beat RJJ, was a much better fighter than Merqui Sosa or anyone like Merqui Sosa was.

For All your Keen Eye BULLSHIT, it's Funny How U NEGLECT to Mention Roy Jones' DIMINISHED FOOTWORK, which was the Overriding Factor Behind ANY So-Called "Weakness" U Think was Exploited...Roy had NO LEGS WHATSOEVER N the Glencoffe Fight & even Tarver Fought a Considerably More FLAT-FOOTED Version than Vintage Article Roy...

    "Control the Pace" REED's ASS...

That was even visible in the fight Roy won. Roy looked terrible ever since the Ruiz fight.

Bingo! The first two Tarver fights and the Johnson fight <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1:place>Roy</st1:place></st1:City>’s body wasn't ready to be fighting at that weight in the short period of time. He came back too soon without giving his body proper rest after dropping all that weight. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

There's no doubt that a 35 year old RJJ was not as good as a 30 year old one. But it's not like Johnson and Tarver had nothing to do with RJJ's demise as the P4P #1 fighter in the world.

RJJ fought Johnson in a very similar fashion as he did Gonzalez, Woods and Telesco. But unlike those fighters, Johnson was able to withstand RJJ's hand-speed and not be intimidated by it, and thus allow RJJ to control the pace of the fight. He never stopped fighting RJJ. And didn't smother himself when he punched or give up rounds by not punching.

And he fought Tarver in a similar fashion as he did Harding. The difference was, Tarver punched much harder and was more aggressive, and like Johnson, did not allow himself to be intimidated into a shell by RJJ's hand-speed. Although Tarver did blow it in the first fight in a fashion similar to so many of RJJ's victims by dealing with his handspeed by not being active enough.

    Man, I don't know.

I am a Roy Jones fan, but I think he may be the underdog here.

I understand his motivation for taking the fight, but even though I don't think Adamek is that good, he may be too young, strong, and powerful for Roy at this stage in his career.

Roy was on the ropes more against Johnson then he was against the other 3 fighters you listed.

I saw Roy the week before the first Tarver fight at mayweather-N'Dou...I called Jake and Bigdawg that night and told them both Roy didn't look good. he looked jaundice. I don't doubt for a second the weight loss messed his body up.

As far as the Johnson KO...he never should have taken that fight. I still say HBO forced him into that slot. He wanted to come back and HBO didn't have a slot for him the rest of the year. he hadn't fought twice in four months in YEARS...

    Plus, when you're KO'd there's a 90 day suspension...he shouldn't have sparred for 90 days let alone fought in 120 days.

    Bad career move all around.

Mostly true except jones was wobbled in the first against Ruiz.

Roy did eat up pressure fighters as a younger fighter. Also if he wins it does not hurt his legacy. It is obviously he is shot, but maybe going up in weight will help him.

agREED except for Calzaghe. Reflexes and mobility are his main physical attributes.
