Nog didn't look like the 3rd best heavyweight in his last fight

yeah, but they aren't going to knock him down too far until some of the younger bucks beat him.

Where did you find this list? Some of these guys aren't even with the UFC anymore.

I would have Couture and Carwin ahead of Nog.

who isn't in the UFC anymore? I think I have seen most of them within the last year or so.

The top 10 are pretty solid. Nog and Randy are obviously on the way down but should put on a good show regardless.

There are some really great matchups in that top 10 to be made:popcorn:

I know Eddie Sanchez and Christian Wellisch were cut. Evensen is 0-2 in the UFC, so he's probably on his way out if he's not gone already. And it's interesting that Pat Barry is ranked so high, he's only 4-0, and 1-0 in the UFC.

Was this an 'official' Sherdog list, or did someone on the message board come up with it?

What I did was do a google search on the UFC's top 20 HW's. It brought up a list that was in Sherdog's forums. It says "official" on the thread, but there is no link or anything like that so that probably tells us all we need to know. I thought it was pretty close when I looked at the top 10, but if what you say is true about those guys being cut and Pat Barry's record, I would be willing to bet is more of just a poster's wishlist than an "official" UFC list.

On another note, I was just at the UFC's website, I can't find any rankings at all on anything. Do they not post their rankings?

I don't think they have any 'official' rankings. I know their website isn't too up to date though. Last time I checked they still had Justin Eilers listed as being on their roster.

They need to start some rankings eventually. Allot of guys are getting side stepped and there isn't any reason for it, but that it would make more money sense to let Liddell fight for the title again.:shit: Obviously, that's a bit of an exaageration but not by far

I don't think having 'official' rankings would make any difference, as the UFC would be the ones doing the ranking. And if the UFC wants Chuck Liddell to challenge for the 205 lb title, then bam, he's magically ranked number 1.

Good point, but you know they won't ever allow outside rankings to influence their matchmaking. I just think they need some kind of system besides, the WWE model of "this guy is a fan favorite and this guy sells tickets....they are fighting for the title."

The heavyweight division sucks in MMA ,...just as it has in boxing for years.

The big guys just don't have the skills of the lighter weight guys, period.

Actually the heavyweight division in the UFC is better then it's been in years. You have a lot of young up and comers like Velasquez, Carwin and Dos Santos...and of course Lesnar. Now they just have to finish cleaning out the trash like Kongo and Gonzanga.

Oh I agree that it is better than years past...but the fact remains that compared to every other division,..it sucks.
