Instead of resorting to shit-talk or excuses, I'm gonna go by pre-fight words.

Me - Pacquiao by KO.

This is not a hard fight to pick.
1) Ricky Hatton always looks bad against southpaws
2) Ricky Hatton has abandoned the non-stop mauling he had coming up in favor of a more "skillful" approach
3) Ricky Hatton is baffled by movement
4) Ricky Hatton comes in wildly and is proe to counters
5) Ricky Hatton has looked sluggish in every outing post-Tszyu, save the JLC fight, a fight against a guy made to order.
6) Manny Pacquiao is a southpaw
7) Manny Pacquiao will hit you...often
8) Manny Pacquiao has arguably the fastest hands in boxing, and beat up the same DLH that went 12 with Mayweather


Do you see how this works? You actually look at the styles, rather than whose dick you'd like in your ass (paying attention REED?)

The ONLY way Hatton is even competitive is if Manny has an awful night AND Ricky goes back to how he fought 5 years ago AND the referee doesn't enforce the rules.

Because if this becomes a boxing match at mid-range, it won't go 8 rounds.

Tactically, how Is Hatton going to have success.

Again keep in mind he's looked awful against EVERY southpaw he's ever faced<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Duly Note that REED PICKED Manny by an 8th or 9th Round Stoppage, but Acting like this is an EASY Fight to Predict OR that Manny will have an EASY Time w/Hatton is NATHAN More than NUTHUGGERY for Pac, CONTEMPT for Hatton or Good Ol' Fashioned Boxing IDIOCY..."

MTF - As said elsewhere, this is an incredibly difficult fight to call IMHO because there is so much we don't really know about both fighters.

Pre-Oscar, I would have picked Hatton to beat Pac in a heartbeat. Not because he's a better fighter, pound for pound (because he clearly is not) but because he's such a bloody big LW. His stamina and punch resistance issues exist primarily at 147- at 140 no-one has even come close to stopping him in over ten years and even now that he is in steady decline I wouldn't pick a single fighter campaigning at 140 to beat him. His fight against Lazcarno seemed to single a man in terminal decline but then he walks straight through Paulie en route to quite possibly his second most impressive career win.

Lets also get something straight here: Pac has proven absolutely fuck all at any weight beyond 130. Diaz is a bum and Pac is so many levels above him that he was expected to kill him (and did) whilst Oscar turned out to be even more shot than anyone could have imagined (or hoped for). For all that I love Manny, and that I have crazy respect for his offensive skills and power, the more detached you become from the Oscar fight the more certain chinks begin to open. He hit Oscar flush and almost at will from first bell to last, and whilst Oscar looked discouraged and took a well earned beating, he never looked in really serious danger of being stopped or even dropped. What comes from that fight for me is the impression that Manny can carry his speed up but I'm not convinced that he has carried his murderous power, and he will need to if he is to drag Hatton out of his comfort zone in a way which allows him to win this fight.

The closer the fight gets, the more I fancy Hatton to pull off the upset, in spite of the fact that Manny is just better in all departments and that Hatton traditionally has fits against lefties. I agree that all this Floyd Sr crap is exactly that- pure crap. Hatton will try to walk Manny down, get inside and unload hooks to the body and the head whilst wearing Manny out in the clinch and on the ropes. I say again: Hatton is a BIG fucking 140-lber and Manny will have never had a guy that big constantly walk him down and try to grind him out. I have no doubt at all that Manny will hit Hatton flush plenty of times, but so did Tszyu and Hatton walked through him. Manny HAS to hit hard enough to discourage Hatton, otherwise he might get himself ground up.



There are a littany of ther people who deserve mention, but because they aren't as consistently off as these two, I thought I'd highlight some of the finer points made leading up to this fight.

If you thought this would be close, you can't analyze for shit, you know nothing about boxing, and should stop calling yourself educated when it comes to the sport. This is obvious from the moment the fight was signed.

The biggest reason this fight was hard to call IMO was that Hatton was using a new style which often tends to cause just the type of confusion Hatton seemed to face. Other than that, I still wasn't sure about the size difference and what effect it would play.

I am always confused for picking a fight, but afterwards it often feels like how it played out is what I should have been thinking from the start. ::

Matchup and mine's pick of Manny KO 4 were identical. The important part isn't that I said "Pac by KO" You are right, alot of people said that.

Very few stepped up and said this wouldn't be competitive. I took that stance from the beginning and argued with idiots about it.

Margarito-Cotto. Logic and reason dictated that Cotto would kill him, and somehow (plaster?) Cotto's face ended up like a Big-N-Tasty as it enters the small intestine.
