Like him or Not, Floyd Sr. Gave Hatton SOUND Advice the ONE Time Ricky Actually Made it Back to his Corner:lol:...JAB your Way in 1st...MOVE Your Head...Instead, Hatton was LUNGING In w/TELEGRAPHED Hooks & Getting BEATEN To the Punch BADLY...2 of the 3 Knockdowns were Scenarios Such as That....U'd Think that Hatton would have LEARNED from the Floyd KO or the Punch that Lazcano HURT him w/...SAME EXACT Scenarios...

Hatton's Still Good Enough to Continue Fighting, but he'll NEVER B the Same Again Mentally...He was CONVINCED that he was the Bigger, Stronger Man & he BRAVELY Tried to Fight that Way...But Getting Completely DOMINATED, Dropped 3 Times & STRETCHED in LESS than 2 Full Rounds, @ your BEST Weight, by a Noticeably SMALLER Man, is CRUSHING...There's NOfuckingWAY Hatton's Gonna B the Same After the MANNER of this Defeat...

A Fight w/Amir Khan Sounds Good...Or Maybe even a Juan Diaz Fight, if he Can B Convinced to Move Up to 140...Either Way, the End is NEAR & 2009 Probably Should THE LAST Year of Hatton's Career...Eventually, Hatton's Ego will HEAL & he can Resume his Role as England's Folk Hero N Retirement...

Still, I think Floyd senior is all wrong for Hatton. If he wants to keep fighting he needs a guy like Jesse Reid , a guy who will keep his aggression. Floyd Sr. is a 5th rate trainer. He would try to make Randy Johnson into Tom Glavine.

i AGREE his advice was solid, but Ricky needs to be more effectively aggressive. 140 is poor right now. He'd whoop anyone but Pacman. I think if he needs to cash out he should fight Cotto.

Indeed. Not just the KO was brutal, but the whole scenario was brutal too, physically and psychologically.

It was hatton's weight, he was undefeated at the weight, he fought like the bigger man, and really he WAS the bigger man, but he got outgunned, outfought, and knocked out cold by the smaller man in 1 sided, brutal fashion.

Hatton is never going to be the same again, for sure.

Psychologically it goes without saying, but physically too, damn. That was a fucking brutal KO, and Hatton's jaw took some serious heat.

The KO was sort of Hearns esque, and like some of Hearns' KO's, you could hear the "thwack" resounding through the arena

Hatton should go back to England where they let him mug people in the ring. I think he's a product of getting away with whatever he wanted to over there, and it's too late for him to learn how to box.

He should give his boxing equipment to Roger Mayweather so he can douse it with gasoline and light it on fire

The problem is... with Ricky's style, at age 31... he's only gonna decline at this point. He had ALREADY slipped from the fighter that beat Tszyu. Thats not to say he woulda beaten Manny back then... cause even that Hatton woulda been starched by Pac... I'm just saying. Ricky has already been on the slide, and after this KO theres very good chance he'll be shot.

He really should just hang em up. If he retires now, he can say that his only two losses came against the two best fighters of this generation. But if he continues on... he's gonna lose to a lesser fighter.

Now that I've sobered up I can clearly see what Hatton needs to do now.

    Beat a bum (UK)

    Beat Witter (UK)

    Beat Khan (UK)

Then go after the winner of Mayweather and Pac for a rematch but this time fight like Haveeb. Hire Brendan Ingle before the rematch and come out fighting like old school Haveeb.

    he has to fire Mayweather

i couldn't believe Hatton was fighting Manny from the outside :notallthere: Mayweather is hopeless...trying to turn a mauler into Floyd Jnr, Hatton's performance was almost as comical as when DLH was trying to shoulder role against Gatti and Vargas

every other fighter and trainer giving their analysis was saying that he had to fight Pacman the way he fought Tszyu, but he did the exact opposite

    Retirement...maybe a farewell fight...but it's over for him...the guy is DONE....

Caligula...so you mean 3 bums back to back to back...

Ike..If he needs a cashout? he made 12 million for the Pac fight...and if he looking for a cash out fight...Cotto is a brutally painful way of going out...unless Cotto is still feeling the effects of the Margarito fight..we will know when he fights Clottey...

    Huh???...

Hatton ATTEMPTED to Fight Pac from the Inside...& he had MILD Levels of "Success" the 1 or 2 Times that Manny Found Himself Against the Ropes...But even that DIDN'T Work, Ultimately...Aside from the 2 Knockdowns in the 1st, there was a Right Hand that Pac Landed FROM THE ROPES, that HURT Hatton as Well...Hatton's Entire Body Pitched Forward into Pac & Hatton CLINCHED him Tightly...

Hatton Get Lit Up BECAUSE he was Being OVERLY Aggressive...He TRIED to Stay CLOSE to Manny & Paid a HEAVY, PUNISHING Toll...Mayweather INSTRUCTED Hatton to JAB his Way In, to Move his Head & to B SMARTER in his Attack...It's NOT Like Floyd Sr. was Asking Hatton to Fight like Lil' Floyd or Anything...

Then Hatton Comes Out, Trying to Land the SAME Telegraphed Hooks that Got him SPARKED in the 1st Round & he Got STRETCHED for it...Hatton Fought LIKE HATTON & According to his Dad, Ricky ADMITTED to Getting "Caught Up" in the Moment, Trying to IMPOSE Himself on Manny...

Hatton's Approach was Equal Parts Brave & SUICIDAL but Last Nights Loss had NATHAN to Do w/Floyd Sr....

ANOTHER painful beatdown...this one will go on and on for 5-6 rounds....if Hatton wants a cash out(WHICH HE SHOULD NOT NEED cause he made 12 million for the Pac fight) he should fight WITTER...finally just fight the cunt..if you beat him then u can retire...

    Are you mad?

Hatton was fighting Manny from the outside? Uh, no, he was actually coming forward, trying to get inside, clinching, holding and hitting.

The reason he wasn't successful doing this is because pacman was too ridiculously fast, and countered hatton with a blazing right hook before he even got the chance to clinch most of the time.

At no point did Hatton try and fight manny from the outside, he came forward and tried to outmuscle manny, and tried to wrestle him, like he always does.

He should retire without a doubt....he is someone who relies on his physicallity, and despite only being 30, it is not there anymore. With the style he has, both in and out of the ring, he was always gonna be one of those fighters who had a short peak......against Kostya Tszyu you saw him at his absolute best....he was a beast, but he was never able to repeat that ferocity.

He's made a lot of money, tthere is more to his life than just boxing....hats off to him....remember, the majority of us here probably had him down as someone who was just gonna win a version of the world title....probably be a bit of an Arturo Gatti type.....he proved to be a lot better than that.

.....btw, is anyone else just a little bit interested in seeing how fat he gets once the gloves are hung up, and Guiness and KFC are on the menu 365 days a year?.....there will be no stopping him now

Ricky's had an excellent career, IMO. So he lost to the two greatest fighters of his generation - I see no shame in that, in fact I give him the credit he deserves for seeking those kind of challenges out so actively, especially given the tiny manure pilled plant pot of the Warren dominated British scene that he grew out of. But where's the point in going on? He's never gonna beat Pac and there's no luster for him in being No2. Retirement time for sure.

If he wanted to, a goodbye fight in Manchester against a durable bum would be a good way to go out on a high note, but other than that it's over for him. For such an ugly wee man he's got himself a great wife & a good amount of money he should look forward to enjoying that.

By the time Pacquaio landed a single bodyshot with about 20 or 30 secs left in the 2nd round, Hatton MENTALLY gave up coming on the inside effectively. He was just going through the motions without actually BELIEVING in what he was doing.

Look to where his hands where when the crushing shot was delivered.

If his love of boxing is still there, then this knock out could be the ULTIMATE lesson. He has to go back to square one. Think DEFENSIVELY for once. His holding, smothering and mugging WAS his defense.

What would B the PURPOSE of Going Back to Square 1???...It's Tooooooo LATE for Hatton to IMPROVE & he's Likely to B a SHELL of his Former Self, Mentally...This was like Roy's KO Loss to Tarver Only MORE Devastating...& As we Know, Roy was NEVER the Same Again, Psychologically...

Hatton's DONE, Dude...Amir Khan, Juan Diaz or EuroBUMS...That's about the EXTENT of Who Hatton Should Look to Fight, IF he Continues to Fight...Considering Hatton's Financial Status & the UNDYING, UNWAVERING Support of his British Fans, REED Doesn't Think Hatton SHOULD Continue, Save for a "Farewell Fight"...

He Could Become THE BIGGEST Promoter in Europe &/or it's BEST Boxing Commentator...There's PLENTY that Hatton can Do N his Boxing Afterlife...

I give her one or two kids then five years after before she leaves his ass and takes his money.

A woman like that wouldn't look in the direction of a guy like Hatton unless he had money.

Nobody changes his spots after 20 years in the ring though. And more to the point nobody moves UP a grade as a fighter at age 30. Ricky's an excellent fighter - an A grade fighter....just not an A+ grade fighter who can hang with future legends and he never will be & never could have been.

And that isn't being 'exposed' BTW (fucking hate that word, hate it), it's something he deserves credit for finding out & showing us because he's somebody who was determined to push the envelope and take on challenges until he found his level which allot modern guys (Floyd included) aren't willing to. But Pac & Floyd definitely showed him it, he ain't gonna suddenly develop their kinda talent by 'thinking defensively'.

I think the people who are so sure Hatton is DONE are projecting how they would react.
Some fighters can come back from this; some can't; some don't.
    Can Hatton? I don't know.
mY plan for Hatton would be one tune-up fight against a no-hoper...say 24-5 (9) type guy. If Hatton wins easily and impressively, as he should, then it's right back to the top of the p4p heap for an opponent. Right now he is 1-2 against top 5 p4p guys. I'd be looking at the loser of the JMM/Mayweather fight.

Unfortunately I agree. Especially if he is true to form and turns into an amorphous 190lb blob within 5 weeks. OTOH, he's also a pretty engaging and likable guy so I give him more chance of holding on to his woman beyond 5 years of retirement than Calzaghe.

:bears: well said. The funny thing is, the amount of European fighters who get stick for never coming to America, staying at home etc..Hatton isn't and wasn't one of them, he took on the cream of the crop, he might have failed, but he deserves a shitload of credit for trying and giving it his best shot.

Hatton should get nothing but respect imo, he just wasn't good enough at the elite p4p level, no shame there at all. Falling short against the best two fighters of the last decade does not make him a bum, boxing will be worse off without Ricky Hatton, for the fanbase he brings across, his likeability and his willingness to face the best.

Ricky Hatton could get ANY woman he wants in all of Britain. The guy is like a folk hero over there. There are perks when you are a country's boxing hero, it's like being a rock star. Women are all over that sh*t. This guy can get free pussy of the hottest kind wherever he goes in Britain if he wants it. I'm astonished he's able to keep it in his trousers for his current woman. Chicks dig millionaire athletes. And Hatton's a huge deal although his stock took a big drop after Saturday night.

REED Gets All that, but the Issue is Whether Hatton can KEEP the Woman he Has...5 Years Down the Line, he'll B a BLOATED, 12 Sandwich Eating "Boxing Hero" that CAN'T Even See his Own Dick when he Looks Downward...& the Sight of his NAKED Body will likely REPULSE Her...

Even if She INSISTED on Turning the Lights Off, she'd STILL SEE Hatton's Pale Ass in the Dark...YES, Hatton will B Able to Interchange NEW Pussy Whenever he Wants, but will he B Able to KEEP them Around???...
