Manny fought DLH at 147 for two reasons.

    1. The Payday

    2. Freddie new DLH was beyond shot and would be even weaker if he went down to 147.

That's why we probably won't see Manny at 147 again, and rightfully so, he's not a welterweight and would be beaten.

so Pacquiao is willing to fight Oscar at 147 but not the rest of the welterweights?

But when people say he beat a weight drained Oscar it's nothing but an excuse. This tells you what Roach thinks about fighting Oscar and the rest of the welterweights.

Roach is saying stuff like "Mosley at 142, Cotto at 140" is either preliminary negotiations for those fights (especially Cotto), or him just saying he only wants Pacquiao fighting Mayweather. Mayweather's the only one of the welterweights mentioned as a possible Pacquiao opponent who could probably make the 142-144 range without weakening himself, and ultimately, the most likely to accept a fight at a catchweight in that range.

Uhh, yeah really. People ask Cotto all the time who he wants to fight next and he always has the same answer, "I'll fight whoever my team puts in front of me." I love how boxers went from running their own careers to now hiding behind their promoters and managers.

I will give Cotto this....he may not have the balls to call anyone out but he sure as hell has the balls to actually fight any and whoever they put in front of him. Mosley, Margarito, and now Clottey. That's a hell of a lot more than people can say of Floyd. Cotto stopped fighting 140lbers, meanwhile Floyd's next two fights are already lined up with them.

When was the last time Oscar fought at 147? When was the last time Oscar was considered a top fighter?

There is a HUGE difference between fighting Oscar and fighting the true top guys at 147.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Didn't DeLa Hoya made his return to welter before the Pacquiao fight against Steve Forbes? At least he was announcing it like that before the fight. And wasn't Cotto still at 140 lbs when the 'we'll be ready in a year' remark was made by his promoter?:dunno:

De La Hoya-Forbes was @ 150. The aborted rematch with Mayweather was also supposed to be @ 150. De La Hoya talked about it in the post-fight press conference.

I've heard a few times (various dates) about Arum saying Cotto wasn't ready, but according to an article I read by Jake, Mayweather asked for the Cotto fight right after he beat Gatti, when both Mayweather and Cotto were @ 140. Arum said Cotto wasn't ready (which I agree, as a match between the two would've been much better a couple years later).

Marquez called him out, why should Floyd cater to someone who says how bad he wants to fight him?

but when I or anybody mentioned it after their fight people got pissed like we were not giving Manny any credit for the win.

It just looks stupid for Roach to go up to 147 for OScar and not for the other welterweights.

He claims that 147 is too big for Manny. He Just fucking fought there last December.

Just say Many went up for the paycheck against a cadaver but instead it's his biggest win ever.

I honestly don't expect Manny to be fighting at 147 but it's funny how it wasn't too much weight last December but god forbid he is expected to go up now.

I'm glad Cotto is standing ground on this... I don't believe him or Mosely should drain themselves jus to fight Pacquiao.. If he can fight Delahoya at that weight he should fight them too.. BTW I don't see Paquiao fighting anymore 140 pounders because there isn't any big money fighting any of them.. All the big fights for him are at 147 and if those are the fights he wants dats where he needs to fight at instead of forcing fighters to drain themselves..
