Remember when Robert Guerrero was coming up, and all we could hear was about how great this guy was gonna be? Explain yourselves.
guerrero weighs about the same as the chap who started this topic. unlike that guy, guerrero actually has a few ounces of talent among his 130lbs. he's one of the best super featherweights in the world.
As a NorCal poster, I never thought Guerrero would be elite in any weight class, but he'll be a tough out wherever he fights. His problem is that he is always going to be in competitive fights. But the TOP guys blow away lesser-classed opponents. Guerrero never seems to dazzle and dominate, even if he wins. I think he would give all the top guys trouble, but too many B- fighters will give him all he can handle.
Instead of Explaining Guerrero, Someone Needs to Explain the Chris "Man Breasts" Arreola Bandwagon... REED:mj:
As a NorCal'er myself, I'm trying to figure out who the thread starter is talking about...but then taking someone who comes off as more delusional than John Nash seriously when he runs his mouth might be a mistake. Guerrero was moved pretty well by Goossen and he established himself in the pros before other NorCal prospects like Ward, Donaire, Escobedo, but honestly I don't remember much hype coming on this board about him...especially by posters from the area. Guerrero was featured prominently by Goossen when he was with GT, and he was given a lot of hype by the commentators when he fought on FSN, and Shobox, but that's not what's being implied by here. The Litzau fight should have been seen for what it was, a good performance against a made to order opponent, but I do think there was a bit too much hype coming off that fight...but then his career stalled after that and he lost what momentum he had at that point. As far as him as a fighter, he just never seems to be able to put together a complete fight, round after round, against his better competition, and way too often he lingers on the inside, and when he's there he's not always doing enough. He doesn't use his height and reach as he should...and that's not something new, I've never really liked how little he uses his jab, and how ineffective his left is from distance. He is physical, but the way fights, he relies on it too much. He goes to the body well, and can bring some good uppercuts on the inside, but he should be able to do more with his abilities. I don't think he's really progressed that much as a fighter in recent years, and maybe some of that is a result of his corner/trainer situation along with the promotional situation, as well as his wife's health, but for whatever reason, he does seem to have stagnated a bit in his career...despite the fact that he's now with G and getting opportunities through them to fight on HBO and what not. But he's only 26, and whatever criticisms there is of him, he's still got real talent and physical gifts, and he'll be a tough, physical fight for a lot of opponents. And I still would have liked to have see him fight Rocky Juarez back when the fight was first being discussed.
Uuuuuuhhh, Have U READ his SIG???....U Been SHERMING it Up or Something, Neil???... REED:notallthere:
damn i felt like hard hittin henry for a moment there. naw i got signatures disabled. is skeletor hyping arreola?
::Fair Enough, Dog... Here's Jaws' Sig... Chris "Best HW on Earth" Arreola bandwagon: Jaws1216, Free Ike (co-founder) a.k.a Dr. Strangelove a.k.a. Andy Garcia, Kid Dynamite, Nobleart "the B&W lover", Boxfan, The punisher, Top of the Food Chain, Alabama Man a.k.a Rubio MHS a.k.a. Big Bad John a.k.a. Decagon. QUITE a Fraternity, Huh???... REED:mj:
You know Jaws is putting my name there to piss me off, right? Arreola fucking sucks and I detest him.I have begged him to take my name off of that. That said Guerrero is a cunt. Cotto easily could have quit last night, but he has a work ethic and pride unlike Guerrero who quit like a bitch. In fact, I doubt anyone but Jaws is a legitimate name on his bandwagon. I hate Arreola and I honestly think he is the worst HBO hype job in history.
Well said. Guerrero staying and taking 12 rounds of punishment against a guy fighting on roids...clearly a bitch.
It's called being a professional. Cotto easily could have taken his money and quit. He didn't because he is professional. Guerrero gets beat up in a round and then gets knicked and says he is blind. He is a disgrace. Lucky for him, fans and the tv executives have short memories. If they didn't, Clottey would never be on tv after his quit job versus Margarito. Excuses are easy. Cotto walked through fire because it is his job. Guerrero quit in front of his fans becaUSE HE COULD.
I don't care. That bitch fucking quit because he didn't want to fight through adversity in his OWN home town. He deserves never to be on tv again.
I'm not accusing Mitchell or Az Cat specifically. I just remember when Guerrero was 10, 12-0 and posters were talking him up as "The next big thing" around featherweight. He is a borderline beltholder on a good day, and cannon fodder for an actual good fighter. As to my Arreola Bandwagon, You guys know he's one of the 5 best HW's in the world and would beat alot of people not named Klitschko/Haye/anyone good. He is the cream of the B- crop at Heavy.
He isn't a B level anything. He sucks. Even in Today's heavyweight division, he is an F level fighter. Take me off that bandwagon now!!
If Arreola is B- Quality, that Means Travis Walker is @ Least an AVERAGE Heavyweight, which he Most Certainly IS NOT...Travis Walker Absolutely BLOWS, yet he had YOUR Boy in TROUBLE.... REED:shit:
Little known fact. Chris Arreola was poisoned by a Subway in Weed from a bad tuna sandwich merely 2 hours before the fight. This caused massive diarrhea and "the ooze." Luckily he took some Pepsid AC and did just fine. That first round was an expose in him being hit in the body without defocating on himself. I thought he recovered nicely after the first few minutes.
