The most obvious question presently for the MMA forum...

If fedor can handle the power, Fedor wins.

fedor is just too experienced for Lesnar, and still in his physical prime.

I really want to see Lesnar humiliated and think Fedor is the man to do it.:stir:

Pretty sad when Lesnars only meaningful fight is a man he outweighs by 60 lbs and not even in the UFC.

Anyways, I think Fedor will smash him standing. Fedor would probably work exclusively on takedown defense and try to keep it standing. I actually think that Mir stunned Brock for the 10 seconds they were standing in their fight.

Brock is a nightmare for most, however Mir did nothing to get off of his back. Fedor is good at exploding out of that position to get back to his feet, and he can submit as well.

I doubt it will ever happen though. Dana blew his chance by repeatedly insulting Fedor after the first negotiations failed. Dumb fuck.

Oh snap! Now Dana is saying he's gonna make it happen and it HAS to happen! Well see.

agREED that it HAS to Happen...

But Lesnar Needs about 3-4 MORE Fights 1st, N REED's Opinion...Hopefully, Dana DOESN'T Rush It...He Should Bring Fedor in & let him Destroy the Guys Lesnar has ALREADY Beaten 1st...Fedor vs. Couture...Fedor vs. Mir...Mabye 1 More Fight, THEN Fedor vs. Lesnar...

Problem with that is Fedor is already almost 33 and IMO is on the tail end of his career.

Dana White says Fedor Emelianenko will fight in the UFC, Brock Lesnar fight imminent
by Dann Stupp on Jul 12, 2009 at 5:30 am ET
Prior to this past Saturday's UFC 100 event, an underground movement took root and called for mixed-martial-arts fan who would attend the show to begin "Fedor!" chants throughout the night.

The thought, of course, was to make UFC executives well aware of the fans' desire to have Fedor Emelianenko, the world's top-ranked heavyweight and arguably the greatest MMA fighter in the division's history, fighting in the octagon.

The chants were never heard, but after UFC 100, UFC President Dana White said he wants Emelianenko in the UFC, that it's eventually going to happen, and that a fight with Brock Lesnar is imminent.

Lesnar, the former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar and NCAA Division I national wrestling champion, picked up his third consecutive UFC victory and first-ever title defense with a dominant second-round TKO of interim title-holder Frank Mir in UFC 100's main event.

With Lesnar's current streak of wins over Heath Herring, then-champ Randy Couture and now Mir, many are looking to possible future opponents for the seemingly invincible ground-and-pound machine.

Emelianenko, the former longtime PRIDE heavyweight champion, is the man many see as most likely to topple Lesnar. At 30-1, with back-to-back Affliction wins over two former UFC champions (Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski) and a 26-0 record (with one no-contest) over the past nine years, many fans are clamoring for the Russian fighter to take on the top talent in the world's premier fight organization.

"This Fedor thing has gone on and on and on," White said in the post-UFC 100 press conference. "Eventually, Fedor's going to be here. I want Fedor. I want him to come to the UFC and everything else.

"This guy (Brock Lesnar) just won the heavyweight title, and we'll end up getting that deal done. And then we'll do Brock vs. Fedor, and it'll be a huge fight."

How soon could we such the fight?

"Who knows," White said. "He's obviously contractually obligated to fight (with Affliction). Once that's over, we'll figure it out."

UFC officials have met with Emelianenko and his representatives multiple times. However, the meetings proved far from productive and often left each side blaming the other for the inability to get a deal done. The UFC said Emelianenko's demands were too outrageous, not necessarily from a monetary standpoint (though Emelianenko is believed to make at least $2 million per fight) but because a deal would essentially require the organization to enter the Russian market as business partners with Emelianenko's manager, Vadim Finkelchtein. Emelianenko's people say the UFC's contract demands are too restrictive without any allowances, for example, for Sambo competitions and would dictate all aspects of the fighter's career.

Concessions will be need to be made, and that's often led White to predict a slim chance of a deal coming to fruition. In fact, White has often criticized the fighter, going so far as saying Emelianenko "sucks" while mocking past recent opponents such as kickboxer Hong Man Choi and Matt Lindland, who normally fights at middleweight.

However, White's tune has changed, and on Saturday, he spoke rather definitely about the fighter's future in the UFC.

Of course, that future could hinge on Emelianenko's upcoming Aug. 1 fight at "Affliction" Trilogy." There, Emelianenko meets another former UFC champ, Josh Barnett, who many rank among the division's top three or four.

However, don't expect Barnett to get the same invitation to the UFC is he knocks off Emelianenko.

    Why?

"No one's beating down my door to get Barnett," White said.

Don't fool yourself. This fight won't happen anytime soon. Neither side needs each other. Fedor can keep fighting as he does and make over a million a fight and not give his soul and life to the UFC. Dana can match Brock against all the rising and current HW's in the UFC and each ppv will be huge. Fedor isn't going to sign a contract that states if he wins the UFC title he has to fight who and when they say until the UFC says otherwise. Dana isn't going to let Fedor beat his companies golden ticket and bail to a Sambo tourney.

The UFC should cut him some slack on the sambo thing. It's not MMA.

The Thing is, we're Talking about the UNDISPUTED Top Dog in the ENTIRE SPORT...Special Concessions were Made for Michael Jordan by the Chicago Bulls AND the NBA...The League Even Entertained the Idea of REPLACING the Jerry West Silhouette w/the Air Jordan Silhouette AND RETIRING Jordan's # 23 Entirely, so that NO OTHER Player Could Wear that Number...

Well, Fedor Is the "Michael Jordan" of Mixed Martial Arts...Fedor SHOULD B Treated DIFFERENTLY & Dana White SHOULDN'T B ARROGANT Enough to Play Hardball w/Him...The Fact that Fedor HASN'T Fought in the UFC HASN'T Hurt him @ All, from what REED Can Tell...Obviously, the UFC Doesn't NEED Fedor Either, but it'd Look BAD on them & Dana White in Particular, if his OWN Ego Kept THE BEST MMAist Ever from Joining the Organization...

Has Fedor ever faced a HUGE wrestler like Lesnar ?? What is the basis for his proposed win ?

Mark Hunt who weighs about the same as Lesnar got on top of Fedor and had him pinned for a good portion of their fight. But he wasn't able to execute the GNP very well (plus didn't have elbows option) and unsuccesfully went for submissions instead.

That monster Choi guy, even had some mild success with Fedor but of course he completely licks balls and got armbarred.

What would Fedor do when he's on the ground against Lesnar ?? Would he be able to kick out or execute a lighting armbar the way he has.. or would Lesnar be able to keep him smothered.. would Fedor be able to deal with elbows ???

WHile i think Fedor crushes lesner, The sad thing is that if Lesner did beat Fedor, people like Steve-Dave would think MMA is even a bigger joke. Just because lesner came from the WWE.

I think that is Dana's plan actually. Let Fedor get a little older than capitalize on his age.

Brock might lose the belt before this fight is even made. The UFC Heavyweight division isn't that great but theres a few fighters there that can beat Brock.

Indeed, Brock is starting to grow on me but he is still very unproven and untested vs strikers.

I wouldn't favor anyone over Brock right now, but there are some guys that just might be able to beat him. Velasquez and Carwin I think have the best shot. Carwin more so than Cain though, since he seems to have some real power.

Affliction is already working on extending Fedor's deal with them until 2012, so if that happenes, Fedor will never fight in the UFC. He'd be 36 by the time he's out of that contract.

People think I'm hatin on Lesnar but I'm not.I think he needs to fight more fights(Is that too much to ask?:dunno:),because he could be a flash in the pan for all we know.Lets just wait and see how he does against Carwin exc before throwing him to the wolf.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that Couture, Herring and Mir were all washed up fighters when they faced Brock. I'm still not sold on Carwin and would have liked to see him vs another veteran rather than Velasquez

I think he's done enough to not be considered a flash in the pan. Herring, Randy and Mir in a row ain't a bad run. I think at this point you at least have to consider him pretty damn tough to beat. It's not like he's going to suddenly turn into Kimbo.

Affliction won't be around in 2010, much less 2012.
