The big heavyweights, like Billy Conn ALMOST did to Joe Louis bandwagon begins here! What do you all think??? He seems to be taking his craft seriously now.
Eddie Chambers has the skillset to compete in today's lackluster HW division. Just a shame he is undersized and underpowered.
he'd beat up arreola if that means anything. maybe he could even win a rematch vs. povetkin, but i can't see him beating either klitschkos.
Povetkin beat Chambers with ease, the fight wasn't close, but just like your typical Hopkins groupie, you land the odd clean counter punch and you are awarded the round immediately.
that's a good point. emphasis is and should be on clean effective punching but one clever counter should not win a fighter the round. and like you said, often it does, especially when the guy landing the "clever counter" has faster hands. the guy with faster hands will always win a close decision. it's one of the reasons Taylor was seen to have so decisively beaten Chavez only to be knocked out at the end. the truth is, if you watch that fight closely, many of Taylor's punches were blocked but because he threw so fast they were viewed as having landed. and many of the ones that did land were slaps that did very little damage.
Emphasis should be on aggression and workrate, as it's quite easy to land "the cleaner blow" when your rapidly backpeddling away from a fight and taking advantage of an action fighter by timing him onto the odd potshot as he comes forward looking to go to war,.... the best case scenario for boxing and it's fans is if two fighters come to kill each other,... instead of two cowardly bitches, strictly backing up, and begging for one another to 'walk into range' ...
In similar news, Samuel Peter weighed in for his fight this weekend at 243. So after fighting each other, Chambers lost a shade under 15 pounds for his next fight and Peter lost 22 pounds. :bears:
Chambers reminds me a bit of Jimmy Ellis, who was a blown up middleweight that licked a lot of Grade A heavyweights in his era. Time will tell though, but if anyone doubts that the guy has talent, they are not being forthright.
Word is the sides have already begun negotiations for Wladimir-Chambers, possibly for December in Germany.
He will beat Wlad! Vitali would be too strong. His style is too quick for Wlad. Wlad would get out of his game plan and come apart. If Chambers sets up an Eliminator to box Haye's ears off; Eddie is going to out point Wlad as while.:cheer:
It's a bit the opposite Oates,.. Chambers would give Vitali hell,... but Wlad, is the ultimate 'small man' killer,..
Which small guy has been even close of giving Vitali hell? Byrd yes because Vitali injured his shoulder, but apart from that I don't know if any small guy, or anyone else for the matter, has won more than two rounds against him
I think Chambers pressuring shell, and quick secular shots are going to piss the strict outside fighter off, in a major way,.. atleast with Wlad you've got a savage left hook to help open up a spot down the middle, I don't think Vitali's weaker hook will detter Chambers and Wlad punches harder, quicker, and straighter in pulverising the high guard and popping the fist between the tight gaps,... Vitali archs and bends and flails when it comes to pressure on the inside and it will give Chambers oppurtunities to keep weeding into his stomache with his head covered looking for the odd quick combo,...
