Look you don't know what was motivating Nate for doing that.

It could have been as simple as him wanting to make 2 payday's out of one. They mentioned before the fight how he's having financial problems, he's never been respected in the sport or had big paydays.

Had he gotten his no contest he'd have gotten paid tonight and likely have received a rematch for a completely different payday. If that was his motivation I completely understand, because he's been nothing but professional his whole career and the industry has done nothing but shit on him.

I just watched this fight on the DVR.

Why are Showtime commentators so damn slow on the uptake? It was so incredibly, unmistakeably, in-your-face OBVIOUS exactly what went on in this fight, my 7 year old daughter could have figured it out.

Nate Campbell is a very smart fighter. He made sure to complain after every headbutt to try and ensure any potential cut got ruled a butt. Even after the last cut, he was walking back to his corner looking up at the replay screen so he could see how bad his cut was (his "spotted" vision must not have kicked in yet).

He knew it was round 3, he knew that 4 rounds are needed to go to the cards, so he figures he'll get out now (down 3-0) before getting knocked the FUCK out on national TV. So he doesn't say a thing in the corner about "how does it look?" or "we have to stop this cut" - the first thing out of his mouth , loud and clear for all to see is "I CAN'T SEE I CAN'T SEE I CAN'T SEE". Even his trainer is trying to sit him down and shut him up, but Nate knows that he needs to be clear that he cannot continue because of the butt in order to "win" his technical draw.

Well FUCK YOU Nate, cuz your pansy plan FAILED on you, and the ref ruled it a punch. You gambled on your little escape plan, and you LOST, man up and get the hell out of boxing. I watched Miguel Cotto continue with an equal or worse cut when he could have gotten a WIN out of quitting, but he kept going. Watch THAT fight with your "spotted" vision and take notes, Nate. You know I always thought Campbell was an oddball, but a tough oddball, and apparently I was wrong.

I have no desire to see him fight again. None. He is too old and too slow for Tim Bradley, and I have no desire whatsoever to see a rematch. If Nate Campbell wanted another chance at Tim Bradley, he could have taken it with ease - it was called ROUND FOUR, and Nate Campbell didn't want any part of it.

How embarrassing. Honestly, Campbell should be ashamed of himself taking away from Tim Bradley's ass-kicking of him with all this shit. The story tonight is another great victory for Bradley over a washed-up, griping baby. Tim Bradley said it all in the post-fight when he said that headbutt or no headbutt "it wouldn't have mattered", and we was dead on right.

This is all true and all, but at the same time I feel bad for Nate. His career is over, he has financial problems, he may not get another big fight, he won't be able to get a decent job, his wife is going to be fat--although she won't get nearly as big as that future house that Bradley is engaged to.

You're also right about the commentary. There were times it felt like I was listening to HBO's team. Showtime's crew was way worse tonight and even the FNF crew would have caught on to what Nate was doing.

For someone who proclaims himself to the warrior that Nate does... he sure pulled a bitch move tonight.

Cotto fought through it... why couldnt Campbell?

No rematch. Fuck Campbell! Good riddance ya broke bastid!

If anything it's another testament to how old he is. We've all seen some of the toughest warriors quit towards the end of their careers. I still don't think Nate did this because he couldn't hack it though.

Let's be serious for a couple of seconds. Nate made a couple of pretty good paydays afaik. he tried to cheat the paying public, and it backfired on him. tough I must admit that I don,t think that a few years ago, Nate would have acted like that.

The referee was inept....his post-fight interview quotes are a little concerning....he said he saw the butt, but didn't see the cut until after another punch had landed so 'had to go with the last thing that he saw' ie. the punch. :dunno:

There was a split second between butt and punch, and anyone who has watched just a little bit of boxing would have realised which one of those is likely to open up such a cut.

I haven't seen the fight, but if the cut was from a butt, it SHOULD have been a no contest.

The only reason I can think that the ref awarded it to Bradley as a TKO is that he simply knew Nate was trying to quit.

Did the doctor not chime in about the severity of the cut?

And  @ Junior "The Shitter" Quitter.

the thing is, Nate didn't give anyone a chance....he was shouting that he couldn't continue and he wanted the fight stopped.

I don't think Nate's argument is about the cut, but his actual vision......as far as i could see, they wiped away the blood and the cut wasn't bleeding....yet he was complaining about 'dots' in his eyes.....we either take his word on that, or we don't.

I think Nate is simply hoping for another pay-day.

He had bleeding behind his left eye. It's a legit injury, think what you want but based on his history I'm giving him the benifit of the doubt on this one.

Devon Alexander is saying that he would give Nate a shot at his belt if Bradley won't give him the rematch.

If that's been verified (or was verified by the doctor) then I don't blame him for quitting. And I also don't blame him for complaining about the ruling. The injury was obviously caused by the head-butt.

Campbell will get thrashed in a rematch. Bradley's confidence will be sky high going into a rematch, whilst Campbell soup's wont be.

    Result changed.

Not surprising. Happened with Toney-Rahman II, as well.

That's because he's not a short, pudgy lightweight with no power.

Pretty much. He's also faster than Paulie... Paulie's quickness is pretty much his only asset. Bradley takes that away... theres really no way Paulie beats Bradley.

BTW - Bradley would stop Diaz.
