Yeah, I noticed dude. Of course, Cupey's version is the truth and nothing but, as always... MTF :shit:
Well it's too bad for Cupey. I really believe he will sell this time. It's unfortunate that Godfather and other's have been burned so much by him that they are completely uninterested in even considering the purchase. Guess you should have sold it that last time when you had the chance Cup's, now it looks like you might be stuck with this site. At any rate I think if anyone does buy it, probably the best way to make it profitable is to make it an MMA/boxing site like other sites I know. MMA is a much more famous sport for mainstreamers and this site is about profit first as far as the owner would be concerned. Also with a name like fightbeat you won't be pigeonholed into just boxing like boxingtalk or even boxingfanatics is. I think that is the best hope for any owner turning a profit here and bringing in new sponsers and members and of course we'll still have our boxing forum. Just my thoughts.
I've been saying that forever. I know there's a lot of MMA haters on the board, but reality is you have to adapt to survive, and right now there is much more of an interest in MMA then there is in Boxing. This site has sunk so low, it would be hard to bring it back up by relying on just boxing in it's current state. There are a lot of boxing sites. There are a lot of MMA sites. But there aren't too many true hybrid Boxing\MMA sites, so that could be the niche that could lead this site to success. TFK
When I met with the IFL people that was part of our marketing strategy. FightBeat means "Fight" and not just boxing. They liked it. To bad we priced ourselves out, but that's another story. C
Its an interesting story. I found out that Sherdog collects $1500 a month per advertisement banner for their top dogs. We met with the IFL people and proposed interesting coverage with a few writers, audio shows, and video coverage. I made a long business proposal with details, statistics, but unfortunately our quote was way out of line compared to what they were paying for coverage. At that point it was very difficult to change our entire plan and lowering our rates, so the whole thing was scrapped. Cupey
If i bought this site, That is exactly what i was going to do with it. I would have started it off 50/50 but eventually slowly start turning the volume up on MMA and down on Boxing.
Call me a hater, but I honestly think MMA is a fad. Or at least it will end up no better than boxing because it will be run by the same people Cupey
Good idea. I'd do the same. MMA has more appeal with the 18-34 demographic and growing, while boxing is more of the old generation's sport and lacking not only star power but young potential talent. As a businessman, I'd gear my business towards the more popular sport, whether it's a fad or not.
MMA is still a very young sport. It could be in bad shape 10 years from now or it could be the #1 fighting sport in the world. Remains to be seen. Boxing obviously having been around for so much longer has a very rich history. Especially if we're talking ppv.
Well I think there are some good talents in the sport of MMA. Fedor Emelianenko, Lyota Machida, Anderson Silva and Georges St.Pierre to be precise. Even a non-mma fan can't disagree.
For all the stars we lost, there've been no gains. I just can't accept Mayweather as being this big boxing superstar. To me, he's still the same fruitcake who fought on free HBO while the real superstars in Trinidad, Oscar, Lewis, Tyson, Roy, etc were dominating PPV. They all died off and little Floyd thinks he can fill the void. He can't. Nor will he ever. We need real stars! :bears:
