Anderson Silva MASTERFULLY DESTROYED a GAME Opponent...A Former WORLD CHAMPION!!!!...@ a HIGHER Weight Class than his Own...Silva's Body is NOTICEABLY SOFTER @ 205 than it is @ 185....This WASN'T his Real Division, No Matter what ANYBODY Says....

Bottom Line, can Anderson Silva FINALLY Get UNIVERSAL LOVE from MMA Fans???....Can we STOP Questioning just how GOOD he REALLY Is???...It's NOT even about Being BETTER than Fedor, but Silva Still MAINTAINS his Spot OVER GSP, in REED's Opinion...

Say what you like but Anderson to this day still has not fought an elite level striker. Until he does, he'll keep making these jack of all trades type fighters like Franklin and Griffin look like clowns. The man who beats Anderson will be the man who is a striker by design. Not some white trash like Leben and Bisping and crap like that who think they're actually talented fighters.
I say, make Anderson vs CroCop. CroCop can make 205. Or if not that, make Anderson vs Machida.

Even if it did happen it would be two counterpunchers waiting for each other to commit a very boring fight.

 

REED, I think Silva has been highly respected for a while actually.

You're confusing lack of respect/esteem with disapproval at 2 mind numbingly boring performances.

Silva has rightly been considered one of the best MMA fighters in the world for a while, I certainly wouldn't say he's not respected.

Another thing, seriously, Forrest wasn't game. He's been game in the past, very game, but not tonight. Either he didn't fancy his chances, or he's lost his desire to fight, but he looked like he didn't wanna be there from the opening bell, he looked pathetic.

 

Looked like Forrest had nothing left, especially in the chin area...

That being said, those counter hooks were a thing of a beauty! :bears::bears:

 

Silva gets mad respect from me, always. Even though Griffin looked terrible last night and basically quit IMO, Silva definately did his thing and looked great doing it. Nothing bad you can say about a dominating performance like that.

We need Silva vs. Machida now. I could give a shit if they are friends!!!! White, get your sorry ass in a meeting with these two, drop a couple of F-bombs to show how tough you are, and make this happen!!

 

The more I see of Anderson, the more I believe he's emulating Roy Jones. The hands dropped/backfoot thing he's got going on. I'm just waiting for the day when he's got his back to the cage, hands behind his back and springs up with a counter shot and KOs his opponent.::
I think that's the reason why he's so possessed in wanting to fight Jones.

 

The thing that nobody seems to be talking about is Forrest's game plan. Seriously, was his game plan against Silva to kick box the entire fight? What the fuck was he thinking? Better yet, why do people act so surprised that Silva demolished him with ease? Forrest's only chance to win was to wrestle and work the ground. From watching the fight, it doesn't look like the thought crossed his mind.

 

Yeah, that was the first thing I said after the fight ended... Silva just RJ'd Griffen. ::

His gameplan was terrible and it took away from what little advantages he had in the fight.

 

....that's another way in which it reminded me of Floyd-Gatti.......much like Gatti, Forrest didn't even give himself the slightest hope of winning, because he adopted completely the wrong tactics.....playing into the other guy's strengths. Forrest's strength in this fight, was that....his strength....you aren't gonna maxamize that attribute by standing off and kick boxing against such a quick and effective striker.

 

Anderson is good/borderline great but his competition has sucked for the most part. A GSP fight wouldn't prove anything either. He needs to stay at 205. It's funny that he said he was too small for 205. He's not. It's just that his opponents are the same size as him.

I'd favor Anderson over anyone at 205, but he still has to fight them.

 

I'd rather see Anderson at heavyweight against Cheik Kongo.

Finally someone with some sense. Forrest looked terrible last night because Anderson Silva made him look that way.

This is the same Forrest Griffin that has given tough fights to Ortiz, Bonnar, Jardine, Rua, Jackson and Rashad Evans. Griffin was probabaly considered a Top 10 Lightheavy going into the fight last night. Silva embarrassed him.

That embarrassment is not the result of Forrest being an unskilled fighter. It's the result of Anderson Silva being THAT good at 205. Forrest is good, but Silva is one of P4P best fighters in the history of MMA.

 

Silva did it to himself he has no one else to blame. Wen you get this dominant, get get no love from anyone. When you are at the top of the game, everyone is trying to bring you back down. Silva and Fedor are in the same position, no matter what you do, you will be critiqued. If Brock and Machida keep winning, they will be next. RJJ and Mayweather suffered the same treatment. They just cant please anyone.

Forrest got a gift decision over Rampage. Forrest being top 10 really shows how bad the other fights are nothing more. Forrest was coming off a loss.

GSP beats and dominates far better opposition than has Anderson. Alves is many levels above Forrest Griffin and wasn't coming off a loss.

GSP is probably the only fighter from 185 down with a shot at beating Silva.
