Florian has looked like a proper good fighter recently, but in hindsight was probably slightly overrated, because up against an elite fighter like Penn, he was pretty much outclassed. It was a similar situation with Alves and Pierre. I gave Alves a great chance, he looked like a beast, but when it came down to it, he was just outclassed. And Forrest :: He didn't even come to fight tonight, and didn't anyone else find it funny that he actually RAN out of the ring? :: Silva knew he didn't come to fight tonight, and that's exactly why he jumped on him like that, he knew Forrest would bring nothing, and was no threat at all. Still impressive work from Silva, but doesn't really tell us much, Griffin was essentially a punching bag.
It came down to a fighter that actually knew how to fight (Silva) and a fighter that didn't (Forrest).Forrest was bigger and stronger but Silva was faster,hit harder and more talented.
Forrest is shit. He has nothing for Silva. No power and nothing special on the ground. Grinding out decisions or wearing down your opponents only gets you so far at this level.
I said 2 years ago that Griffin is a workman with limited skill. He makes the most of his lack of skill by training harder than anybody. When it comes down to it though, he is still just a C+ level fighter. He's about as talented as Tim Sylvia. He had his time as champ.
I agree. Forrest had one good night against a lethargic Rampage, fair play to him. But other than that, he's simply not very good. And especially last night, he didn't come to fight. I don't know if he just didn't fancy his chances or what, but he looked like he didn't even really want to be there.
i dunno, Mark Coleman almost had shogun out Forrest is just very slow, and is a sucker for a counter.....Rashad showed it, and boy did Silva show it. A Machida fight would have a similar look to it too....he can be so easlily picked off. Against slower guys, who stand in front of you....Forrest can do ok. I was just suprised at how many 'experts' were picking Forrest.....sherdog's fighter picks.....13 went for Silva and 10 went for Forrest......that has been made to look absurd.
There's the reason why Forrest said in at least two interviews that he did not want to fight Machida. He wasn't joking or being modest, he was pretty much flat out saying that he had no chance.
