Neither guy has any defense. I know you aren't a very smart guy. I think you think that I am saying Gatti and Williams are equal fighters. They aren't. Defensively,Williams gets hit nearly 100% of the time. He literally has no defense. Gatti would bob and weave once a blue moon. Williams just punches and punches and punches. He never really backs up, slips, blocks, he just punches and people stop punching. Williams fights like a 10 year old with A.D.D.. tHE AMAZING PART IS he is freakish enough to pull it off.

As usual, you are just a tiny little troll.

so you're suggesting gatti is slightly slicker defensively yet williams has managed to defeat far stiffer competition based on his superior toughness and desire?

    How quickly things can change.

When this fight was first rumoured, people saw it as a joke, nobody gave Williams a chance.

One embarrassing loss to Nard later, and Williams beating a couple of stiffs at middleweight, and now it's a pick em fight

One thing to remember though, Williams is not Nard, and is nothing like him.

To be honest I completely forgot about the Winky fight. Still, that fight doesn't mean much, Winky is done.

It may be partially due to Williams style, but that is the worst Winky I've ever seen. Worse than the Hopkins fight at 170.

Posturing. Pavlik needs a big win. Wright isn't going to cut it. The only way he makes a statement with the fight is if he manages to KO Wright. And it still wouldn't put him back at the top the way a win over Williams would've.

I can understand why Williams feels he has the right to a big chunk of the pie. He's not the one who got schooled in his last meaningful fight.

And Pavlik's pickings are slim given the Showtime tournament.

Williams will be "just a welterweight" after Pavlik beats him. You watch and see! He will get no credit for it if he wins.

I don't know...Pavliks dumb ass actually thinks he's this big draw and wants to get paid. Did you hear him making fun of the middleweight tourney because the fighters were getting "ripped off" and fighting for peanuts on Showtime?

Pavlik vs Williams Agreement Reached: War on Oct 3

    By Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com has been informed by sources close to the negotiations that a deal has been reached for a middleweight war on October 3 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik will defend his titles against Paul "The Punisher" Williams.

After weeks of tough back and forth negotiations, BoxingScene was informed that a deal was reached on Tuesday afternoon. HBO, who played a role in the agreement by bringing a $3.75 million dollar fee to the table, will televise the fight. The two sides tried to make a deal last year and it fell apart but this time both sides worked very hard to make sure the deal got sealed.

    Awesome! :bears:

I will root for Williams but I still think Kelly is too big and strong for him.

Have to agree with Ike, Tall Paul ain't outboxing anybody. The big question will be, can he handle Kelly's bombs that WILL land between Paul's swarming shots.

Also will be curious to see if Williams will sit down on more of his punches this time or just try to outpunch Kelly like he did with Margarito.

George Peterson says the plan is to test Pavlik's "China Chin."

    -------------------

    http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=21551

People are expecting fireworks in this fight and fireworks they will get. The strategy for Williams, according to Peterson, is to stand his ground and take the fight directly to Pavlik. Peterson has a theory that Pavlik is one of those punchers who can dish it out, but can’t withstand the return fire.

“He won’t have to find us because Paul will step right to him and rock him. His chin is made in china. Paul will stand right in front of this joker and bang him right out. We are fighting a ghost that you can see. We thought a ghost was invisible but we have one here that we can see and we are going to spank that butt. They call him “The Ghost” but what do you do when you have a problem with a ghost - you call Ghostbusters,” Peterson said.

“Pavlik is taller, bigger and punches harder but he has to find something to punch. When will he have time to punch when 125 punches are coming at him in every round? All of those guys who can punch, they can’t take it. You have to be able to pitch and catch. We want to see how good he can catch. How well can he catch? How good is his chin? I know he can pitch but can he catch? Paul is going to test that chin.”

I think another good questions is could Pavlik take Pauls shots...If he can Paul will be in trouble.

Agree. Pavlik is a lot bigger then Carlos Quintana. He doesn't have a great chin but he does recuperate fairly well.

Petersen says Tall Paul will be throwing 125 punches per round. That doesn't bode will for him sitting down on a lot of shots.

Maybe he will employ the Calzaghe strategy and try to stun Kelly by sitting down on a punch once for every 20-30 thrown.

Every HBO fighter gets his turn at being over-rated.

    It goes with the territory.

50% of the Gate! No disrespect to Williams, but it will be great if he brings in 5% of the fans.

I like Pavlik in this one. I think Williams' getting KO'd during the mid rounds.

Dan Rafael reporting that it's a staph infection to his left hand and that Goossen may not agree to November 21st, due to Andre Ward's expected bout on the same date.
