Solid Boxing After Dark triple-header for HBO's first card in nearly two months.

Daniel Jacobs, 17-0, 15 KO's, takes on what could be his biggest test to date in the smaller Ishe Smith.

Robert Guerrero gets his second shot on HBO after his heavily-criticized debut in March against Daud Cino Yordan ended in a No Contest.

He'll be trying for his first super featherweight title shot against two-time champion Malcolm Klassen.

And in the walk-out bout, the progeny of Juan Manuel Marquez and Ricky Hatton slap it out in a 12-rounder.

at least it's a triple header but that's a very poor card for HBO

Solid card? Come on MK, you're way smarter than that. Fucking Ishe Smith and Malignaggi on the same card? I'm gonna have to wash down some nodoz with red bull for this one. Only reason I'm going to tune is to hopefully get to see Malignaggi get brutalized again, and see if Smith can break the punchstat record for least punches thrown in a fight.

But yeah, this card does nothing for me. Only fight I'm interested in seeing really is Guerrero-Klassen. Jacobs-Smith could be a stinker, and Diaz-Malignaggi has no intrigue to me.

Well, I'm interested in the first two fights, at least...may never watch Diaz-Malignaggi.

Yep true. Malignaggi and Smith shouldn't be allowed to fight on ESPN FNF let alone the A network in HBO. I think GBP might have found the only fighter in the world who can make a Juan Diaz fight suck.

HBO has really been terrible in regular broadcasting cards for a while now. Diaz/JMM and Juarez/John from back in February is more of an exception to the rule.

I'm hardly an HBO apologist, and they have certainly had some shit broadcasts this year - Berto-Urango, Lopez-Penalosa, Dawson-Tarver are at/near the top of the list of very poor main events, IMO - but it's more hit and miss than just miss.

    Berto-Collazo, Mosley-Margarito, Campbell-Funeka, Marquez-Diaz, Cotto-Clottey, Maidana-Ortiz were all solid main events....yeah, Klitschko-Haye fell through, and Hopkins-Adamek and Mosley-Berto didn't come together, and they had a two month absence from late July to late August...but they've also scheduled Klitschko-Arreola, Pavlik-Williams, Dawson-Johnson, Bute-Andrade II...there's some quality fights coming up.

And I don't feel the need to bitch about Ishe Smith as an opponent for Daniel Jacobs' first HBO appearance.

Paulie's upset...maybe he just realized what his place in boxing is.

From an interview with The Ring's William Detloff:

Based on his last fight... Diaz would beat Paulie in the middle of Bensonhurt with James Gandolfini as the ref.

PM is just PO'd because he knows he can't win in a stink-fest. He he knows that's the only way he can beat anyone who's any good.

2 month gaps between HBO cards was not uncommon in the 90's. Now it rarely ever happens.

Paulie has had this loser attitude for a while now.

After the Hatton fight He blamed Buddy McGirt for ruining his style for the last year or so.

Now he says he is going back to what made him good

But I saw that interview regarding the Diaz fight and all he did was complaint about how Juan Diaz had all the advantages at the negotiating table.

Clearly he lost before the fight started. Not because the fight it's unfair but in his mind he already lost.

Not to long ago he was talking about being sick of boxing and would only do it to make a buck from now on.

This guy needs to retire already.

Well as much as the guy sucks and doesn't even belong on this level, I have to agree with what he says. They have painted Diaz in a very advantegous position which is sad because he shouldn't need it against PM.

    well think about it!

Diaz was a bigger fan base than Paulie. It's a goldenboy card. It makes more sense to sell it in Houston.

JMM went to Houston and Ko'd Diaz.

Why would they give anything to Paulie? What does he bring to the table? This is the same guy that before he signed this fight was talking about quiting boxing.

He has one foot out the door before this fight. Blames Mcgirt for the last couple of losses in his career as well as ruining his style.

Basically this guy doesn't admit he is past his prime and can't beat anybody worth a damn. Yet he wants to negotiate like he is a superstar.

He even admitted that if he didn't take this fight most likely he wouldn't fight the rest of the year. That tells you what he is in boxing nowadays.

He is now a stepping stone for 140 but he thinks he is still championship level.

Don't know, but they should have merged it with this one rather than just deleting the other one. I had rights to those statements I made and wanted to keep them for record.
