Feel free to include fighters who were simply titlists, and not "real" champions, but my guess is, there won't be many.

    1. Mike Tyson
    2. Evander Holyfield
    3. Joe Louis
    4. Riddick Bowe
    5. Larry Holmes
    6. Rocky Marciano
    7. George Foreman
    8. Joe Frazier
    9. Lennox Lewis
    10. Sonny Liston

Although i think he's overrated historically, in terms of excitement Jack Dempsey would have to be on this list.

Yeah you're probably correct. I guess he could replace Sonny Liston? But even though it was common in his time, Dempsey fought so infrequently - his inactivity alone is a case for leaving him off the list.

While his infrequent activity is why i think he's overrated, i don't believe that's reason enough to leave him off a list of most exciting heavyweight champs.

Vitali? Top 8 most exciting fighter in history? Above Holyfield and Marciano? And where's Holmes. He was exciting because he damn near got beat everytime he fought.

Also, I think it's interesting that Tyson and Holyfield, IMO, were so exciting in their own rights, but when facing each other were boring as hell.

I've never watched a vitaly fight I didn't enjoy. Any heavyweights who goes in there and throws 70, 80 reasonably hard punches is alright in my book. Marciano doesn't arouse my pecker much. You're probably right that Holy deserves to be above him though.

If we're including simply titleholders, then Lamon Brewster is probably on my list. He's tough as hell and can hit but can't avoid a shot to save his life.

    No order:

    Tyson
    Frazier
    Holyfield
    Brewster
    Louis
    Bowe

I don't know about the rest. Maybe Patterson? He had so much vulnerability that it made fights more interesting. Holmes, to a much lesser extent, was similar. Marciano's not really my preference, although I do love his KO of Walcott. Foreman and Liston were big punchers so they have to be considered.
