So after seein Mayweather beat the living hell out of Marquez on saturday(by the way one hell of a performance, just faster stronger, better, thats all there is to it) Do you guys write off Marquez? Or just a matter of styles? Cuz in my opinion I still think Marquez beats any lightweight out there and I would still pick him to beat Pacman if they fought again... Do you disagree do you think Marquez is done? Or just a matter of styles and just fighting someone better? And yes this thread is also used for me to eat crow, haha.
Marquez would still beat most guys at 135.....but then again who is at 135?? Guzman? Valero will probably never have a big fight....Anthony Peterson if he is feeling ready might think about fighting Marquez.....can't think of a better time to do it... at 140 he get beat by Bradley....but i think he is tough enough..accurate enough to beat HATTON....
My thought after their rematch - when the Pacquiao discussion was of a move to 135 - was that the higher in weight they go, the more it'd favor Pacquiao...and that was before seeing what Pac looks like above 140. Now that he's done that, my belief is first that a third fight probably wouldn't take place below that weight, and that it'd probably be a stoppage for Pacquiao. Seeing Marquez against Mayweather hasn't changed that. Marquez could still compete at 135, but does he want to take fights with Valero, Katsidis, et al.? I think he looks to get paid against Hatton and then maybe hangs them up. A fight against Pacquiao after that fight, regardless of how Pacquiao fares against Cotto, Maywether, etc. would likely be Pacquiao in less than 12.
Ya know I don't see the hype with Bradley I have seen him fight many times,(as he basically is a local boy) met the guy and all of that (good guy) but honestly I have seen him struggle with counter punchers so bad when he was coming up... He is quick but he don't have the defense to beat Marquez. Honestly don't see anyone around 130-140 that can beat Marquez...but hey who knows, I can be wrong...I tend to go with my heart instead of my brain alot.
A fight with Hatton would be in Britain, which means Hatton - if he still has the energy - will be allowed to be physical with Marquez. I wonder what weight it'd be at. I wouldn't be surprised if Hatton wanted it above 140.
Pacquiao beats Marquez. Again. Apart from that? He just beat the two guys who had claims to the 135 pound title prior to fighting Mayweather. He's still the #1 lightweight in the world. 140? Who knows. He hasn't competed there yet, take out Hatton and the guys who are hanging about aren't neccessarily known names. Marquez v Campbell could be made I guess, but I don't know what for. Marquez is probably best served waiting for Pacquiao again...or beg and plead Hatton to run around with him.
Based on what? He is no Pacman and he is no Mayweather... Bradley is there to be hit, and easily countered... And he is still young, easy for a veteran like Marquez to expose.
At 135, Marquez basically just beat two guys that beat Katsidis. The title was very watered down...Corrales retained it because Castillo couldn't make weight and then lost it for the same reason before he even fought Casa, and Casa retained it only by way of that decision v. Santa Cruz. And Diaz's claims ended with his loss to Campbell.
Marquez is still the same guy he was before the Mayweather fight. He is still a force at 130 or 135. To me, the Mayweather fight proved only that JMM can be beat by a significantly larger skilled boxer. It really takes nothing away from Marquez. However, given his age and the lack of career-defining fights (and pocket-lining fights) in his true weight class, I'd like to see Marquez hang em up. He's too small to be competitive in big money fights up at 147, he'd just get beat up. A more ferocious fighter than Floyd would likely KO him brutally at 147. To those who can appreciate his skills when they score fights, he's proven himself time and again as being the very best in the lighter weights, with only Pac as a rival. After the run he's had, almost any fight now for Marquez would be sort of a letdown.
People complained about PBF being bigger then Marquez what the do they think Hatton would weigh entering the ring against Marquez. Anyways Marquez is in a tough situation because there aren't many big money fights out there for him. I mean other then a 3rd fight wit Pac who else is there for him to fight that really peeks the interest of the boxing world. I'll Holla 5000
Hatton Marquez is the obvious fight. I think Hatton mauls him. If Marquez is not shot, and I'm not sure that he isn't, his best move would be to go clean out 135. But to make money, Hatton is the fight.
