Well a precedent has been set,.. fighting in that manner makes you a GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT masterful ring legend, if there is nothing wrong with Hopkins, then there is nothing wrong with boxing,..
It honestly was a close fight. I had Dirrell winning by a slim margin, but he only has himself to blame for the loss. He was boxing very good for the first few rounds IMO, then starting fighting like a bitch. But he DID hurt froch at one point, I believe at the end of the 9th.
At least Hopkins has the decency to throw a headbutt or groin shot in a clinch. Dirrell just threw himself to the floor instead. To repeat- the most cowardly performance I have ever seen in a professional ring. MTF
I dont know about worst ever. Gainer-Marquez will never be beaten in that regard, but it was awful. Casapeor like awful
Here's what really pisses me off... Froch is SLOTH like slow. I mean, barely capable of throwing a punch a second. When Dirrell actually threw a punch (once, in the 11th I think), he hit and hurt Carl. But Andre just didn't want to bother. He'd rather try and score a 'moral' victory by running away, falling over and throwing fuck all. I have long defended boxing against the claims that it is 'dying', but I kid you not- casual fans who had stayed up til 3am to watch this fight left at halfway tonight. That's how bad it was. That is why boxing might well be dying. MTF
What do you mean?.. Hopkins used the flop 'MASTERFULLY' against Calzaghe and went on to apparently win the fight and remain undefeated since Roy.
You really are dumb as fuck aren't you Gerry? You're so stupid, you completely failed to grasp my very easy to understand point. I'm not saying you only like German fighters. I know you're a big Morales fan, I even referenced him in my post, you fucking plank :: My point is simple - you don't generally like boring, negative fighters. If Arabham was English or American, you wouldn't be a fan, and you know it. But being the pathetic individual that you are, you feel compelled to reside on his testicles, because he is Germany's best fighter.
I said the same thing in an earlier post MTF. In the 70's, 80's and even 90's to an extent, even fast, skillful, athletic fighters would get in the ring and FIGHT, you know, what they're paid to do. Since the 2000's there is this growing trend of "fighting not to lose" as I put it, rather than fighting to win. I think it's a combination of the large pay packets, the severity of a loss, and I don't know what else. But yeah, he is the epitome of that attitude that is a large factor in the wrongness of boxing today.
When was the last time a contender fought like more of a bitch than Dirrell in their first world championship fight? The last person I can think of is Junior "The Shitter" Witter against Zab. But even then, The Shitter wasn't really considered much of a contender, and he took the fight on short notice. Has there been anyone since then?
That's true, very true,... but what confused me a little is that, one forum, is a notoriously british forum that I browsed, and many are outraged that Froch 'didn't even win 3 rounds' ,.. so, that is why I had to check again.
Shit,..................... I hoped for his retirement after the last fight, and he'd best retire now,... please retire now.
Fuck that shit I thought Dirrell dominated the fight. When Froch had Dirrell against the ropes he didn't land shit. Dirrell landed the cleaner and harder shots. There was no way Froch won 7 rounds. I'll Holla 5000
Damn!! That's sad as hell. I always thought JT was a straight up nice dude. I don't get all the hate some have for him? He's always respectable and fights/fought everybody they put in front of him. A class guy all the way:bears:
Good win for both guys, but I am impressed by neither. I think that Froch is there for the taking. He is incredibly slow and easy to hit. Abraham is pretty slow as well and predictable as hell. I bet the winner of Kessler/Ward clears everyone out.
Abe fought exactly as everyone predicted and he did exactly what he needed to do. He would have comfortably won a decision but went for the KO anyway... just before it happened I noticed he kept looking over to someone in the crowd or his corner, as if to signal that he was gonna put him out finally. AA is a good, EXCITING fighter, who implements technique and strategy to outsmart his opponents, combined with GREAT power. Good job AA ! Dirrell fought like a complete bitch, constantly complaning to the ref. But, the fact is, he landed the way better shots throughout the fight, and if you're not scoring the fight on "bitch factor", then I think he should have won a decision. The ref was obvisouly pissed with his bitch antics which is why he took the point on the intentional yet questionable soft headbut. If Dirrell actually put himself together he could be a very good fighter. Froch should be KO'd and/or dominated in the remainder of the fights in this tournament. He really just doesn't seem like a very good boxer, but he is tough. Looking forward to round 2, Abe-Dirrell is a tough pick, if Dirrell works some of the "bitch" out of him he could take a decision. If not (and this is more likely) he'll end up getting KO'd, or more likely quitting or fouling out against Abe. JT should retire. He was almost a GREAT fighter at one time, but the KO's have obviously taken a toll on him and further fights could put him at serious risk of permanent damage, if he's not already. Reasonably good night of fights.
By reading the descriptions of the fight from enraged websites who are adamant that Dirrell was the victor, it appears both fighters reinacted the complete in-ring tribute to the legendary Bernard Hopkins,.. Dirrell for all the running and clinching, and Froch for all the filthy tactics so,.. I dont know why anybody complains about any aspect of the fight, it sounds like it was a masterful work of art.
Agreed! I felt bad seing him motionless on the mat. He should be ok financially. Time to retire or risk getting hurt.
