Pavlik vs Abraham

Funny how boxing works. Just a year ago, EVERYBODY would have picked Pav to smash AA(myself included). But if they fought now, you'd prob have to make AA the favorite. I have to admit my opinion has changed. I think AA would knock Kelly out. To beat AA you MUST outbox him, and not take too many punches. Kelly is an easy target, and between the two of them AA has the better chin, AND better two fisted power.

I don't think there is anything wrong with changing an opinion on subjects, in fact, that is a mark of cleverness. However you style of completely dismissing one fighter in one day, then calling him bad-ass the next only to make joke threads about him in the third is quite unique. War Xplosive!

 

Oh, and I still pick Pavlik if they fight at 160. I think his punching power and ability to punch around guard are difficult to handle with Abraham's style. It is a very close fight though.

And let's not forget that Pavlik also knocked out Taylor and in even more spetacular manner

I said since the fight was signed that he would stretch Taylor. BANDWAGON jumping would be if I had picked Taylor, and said AA was crap. But I never did. Please do me a favor and get off my dick.

 

AA will never fight at 160 again, so obviously it'd have to be at 168. I really dont buy the bullshit bout Kelly being not right for 168. Pavlik is JUST as big as Froch, and Kessler.

Supposedly after the Williams fight Pav might fight Bute. I'll believe it when I see it though. I dont think Pav wants it w/any of the elite supermiddles. He's only fighting TP cuz he believes Williams isnt strong enough to beat him. I hope Paul beats the shit outta him.

AA sucks. I can't even stand to watch him fight. Actually this whole tournament is full of average fighters. Pretty sad tournament.

 

I said a year ago that Pavlik-Abraham was a 60-40 fight in favour of Pavlik. I still think it is- a very close fight to call IMHO

Kessler is the best fighter at 168.......the only guy in the tourney that i believe can beat him is WARD...and that fight will happen soon enough.

Even though styles make fights, the sheer domination at the hands of Nard means you can't help but think Pavlik is not as good as we all thought.

But Arabham is not Nard, and I'd still pick Pavlik.

 

Anyone who thinks Jermain Taylor is washed up should just watch another sport, because they're lost in this one.

Not washed up, but it did look to me as if the Froch loss took a bit outta him. Not that I think it woulda mattered. AA woulda beat any version of him.

He'll surely be washed up now though, IF he fights on. He'll be easy pickings for Ward. Even if Ward losses to Kess.

He is not only completely washed up, he cannot take a punch either. I think you ought to start watching another sport. JT is done and has been since the second Pavlik fight. He has looked shot. Not only that, he was never very good although clearly better than Abraham has they essentially split the rounds even though JT is done.

 

Eh, I think Taylor looked better physically last night than he did vs Froch. He didn't slow down and managed to move his hands all night.

He just couldn't hurt Abraham, which is a function of Taylor's lack of variety in his attack. Abraham put his hands up and he couldn't do shit. Taylor got by ok with Winky when he did that, because Winky can't punch, but Taylor feared Abraham and with good reason in the end.

This is the best point in your post. The motherfucker has NEVER had any variety in his punches. Plus as Muzse once pointed out about him, he's never punched at openings. He's always thrown punches just like he's hitting the mitts. Taylor has maybe the lowest ring IQ Ive seen on a world class fighter.

If this was 147 we would have something, but how long is this tournament going to take ? They have so many fighters fighting each other it's bs. Why don't we get rid of the fighters after they lose like they did with the 160 tournament? This is an annoying tournament with a bunch of never was!

Let's not forget that Pavlik got dropped and damn near KTFO'd by Taylor in the 2nd or 3rd round of their first fight, and a sizeable portion of refs out there would have stopped the fight at that point giving Taylor the TKO.

In the re it was hardly a domination, damn near even fight.

The fact is I'd have taken Abraham over Pavlik today the same as I would just after Pavlik KO'd Taylor.

 

Froch and Pavlik both got dropped and almost stopped vs Taylor. Jermain didn't even land a shot that raised Abraham's eyebrows last night.

By internet boxing forum deduction that would mean he's shot and thus we learned nothing about either fighter last night.
