To have a rematch clause you need a first fight, and there was no urgency to make Dawson-Tarver I.

Johnson's got another year and a half on him since that fight, so now they make a rematch by side-stepping Cloud.

Then he could've taken the money offered to fight Diaconu.

    Thanks, Otis.

I got a whole different version of things, though.

Eddie didn't want to come across with any money for Chris, I know that for a fact, particularly when he only paid for a one way airline ticket.

Chris Henry is not going to let himself be a target or punching bag for ANY MAN, and that includes Chad Dawson, and Chris in fact left on his own accord, Eddie had nothing to do with his leaving, regardless of what he says.

I would love for this poster that calls himself Neil to come to Houston and see if he's man enough to give Chris Henry some rounds of work in, particularly since he types garbage in General Discussion.

I asked Otis "How he looked" as I was not there.

Had I been there, I would have worked things out first with Eddie prior to any sparring taking place as to whom was going to do what, and laid the ground rules out.

As it was, Chris' management sent the kid there all by himself, a top 10 contender all alone against a future opponent, probably for a world title with no trainer to go with him for scouting Chad-no nothing, and I have issues with that as well.

you surely wouldve smoothed things over, stinger. youre such a tactful fella.

sounds like Henry didnt "look" very hot in the ring against dawson, from an impartial observer.

If you say so, then I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with all of that. At the same time, the sport is in a rut and needs some quality fighters. All I'm saying is it's better for the future of boxing if Chad proves he's a quality fighter and beats Johnson.

I for one think it's excellent that Otis continues to give these insider looks at world-class fighters. Cheers 3OG :bears:

As an aside, surely one of our new owners might find it pertinent to ask our very own, loyal to Fightbeat, inside man to answer a few questions and give us some exclusive home-page content?

    Just a thought...

A ridiculous thought. Why would we want a seasoned pro boxer involved in this site? You're on thin ice, brother.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what 3OG is trying to say is that Henry was working a bit too hard in sparring.

It seems perfectly feasable. Henry is a pressure fighter, and with Dawson working on specific techniques, and with Henry only knowing one gear, then it's obvious that they wouldn't be able to work together.

Johnson deserves a rematch more than Tarver deserved one.

I thought Dawson clearly won the first match and with anything folks gave Johnson too much credit for what happened over the last three rounds while forgetting the first 9.

yes, Chad got buzzed but he fought back and didn't fight like a bitch either.

    he won the first fight.

I think he wins this one more clearly.

I'd like to see Dawson stop Johnson...stop him clearly...have him out on his back. Johnson's got a bit of crybaby in him. No matter how close the fight is he screams robbery. he can't give the other guy any credit.

he's a good guy and all...I'm sick of his bitching after every fight he loses.

Dawson's win was more convincing and clear cut than your attempts to sell this site.

This might be a first, but I agree entirely. The first fight was VERY close- maybe a round either way or even a draw.

There was NOTHING clear about that fight.

No, I though he clearly deserved to win because Dirrell fought like a bitch. Something admitted by Dirrell's own manager, Gary Shaw, in Boxing Weekly this week:

"Maybe Dirrell shoulda traded from round one. The lesson he learned is that if you come to someone else's territory, you have to fight to win and win convincingly. I don't think he did that"

    That is it exactly.

Buddy let Chris go after two sessions with Antonio Tarver for the exact same reason.

Eddie told Chris "Look, all I want you to do is just move your head this round!" and of course Chris ignored that and fought as hard as he could and held his own with Dawson.

Chris did tell me that Dawson has got some good pop, not great knockout power, but pretty fair, and is looking forward to the day he will get Chad in the ring for a title.

Well if that was the case, then of course he was thrown out.

It happens sometimes where a fighter just wants to be able to tell a story back home about how he got thrown out of sparring because he worked the champ. Pretty pointless if youre a fighter and need money.

And you still bring up the Tarver sparring. I personally know four fighters that have been thrown out of camp with Tarver. Two of them were terrible. Getting thrown out of camp doesn't mean you're better than the guy on the other side of the ring. It means you're unwilling to do what you're being paid to do.

He got fired for being a worker that couldn't follow instructions.

Chris spars like he fights, Arben.

He is not going to let anyone just beat him up, and besides, none of the sparring etiquette was discussed beforehand, which I'm sure is the reason he only received a one way ticket there as Eddie just expected him to let Chad tee off on him.

Now, that is Chris' managements fault by sending a rated contender there alone and not going with him to scout the champ, and by not getting the rules of engagement perfectly clear before they sent the guy out west.

He shouldn't take the job as a sparring partner if he doesn't want to do what he's told. It's that simple. You're paid to do a job, not come in trying to kill the guy you are there to help.

Read what I wrote please, ok?

No terms were ever discussed beforehand, and that fault IMO lies with Henry's management.

If anyone was trying to hurt someone, it was Chad, so Chris told him to tee it up and let's go for it.

Many boxing observers have installed Chad Dawson as the favorite and predict

That says a lot coming from that slimeball Shaw too.

That's what it comes down to.

It was Dirrell's fight to win, he was the challenger, in his FIRST FUCKING CHALLENGE for a title, in the champ's backyard, and chose to run and flop around on the floor like a little bitch.

    Frock won by default.
