http://mmajunkie.com/news/16733/ant...lasquez-in-the-works-for-ufc-108-on-jan-2.mma Damn, talk about a loaded card. TFK
It was scheduled for UFC 106 originally. It's now rescheduled for UFC 108. The fight is not scrathed completely. EDIT: Uh oh, you might be right. This would suck.
It's not going to be on 108. Brock has mono. It will happen but it's on ice for now. http://www.cagetoday.com/
What a crap main event. Don't sugar coat it. The undercard is good but the lack of a good main event drags the card down.
I think it's a great main event, and the card is well worth the money. It's stacked top to bottom. The winner of the Nog\Velasquez fight will be the number 1 contender and get the first shot at the winner of the Lesnar\Carwin fight...whenever that happens. I really don't know much about Mono, so I don't know how long they expect Lesnar to be laid up for. At least now that they know what the problem is, they can work on treating it properly. Nog\Cain is a great matchup. The up and comer against the legend. Both are coming off of big wins. Can Nog withstand Cain power? How will Cain react if Nog gets him down on the mat? I can't wait for this one. Evans\Silva is another great matchup. Granted, Silva isn't Rampage, but nonetheless, this is a matchup of 2 of the top UFC 205ers, and the winner has to be in the mix for a title shot down the road. Dos Santos\Gonzaga is another intriguing matchup. I've never thought much of Gonzaga, but he's a good test as to whether Dos Santos is for real or not. With a win over Gonzaga, he'll probably be matched up against the winner of the Mir\Kongo fight, and if he wins that, he'll be in serious consideration for a title shot. Condit\Daley should be a good fight, but I'm hoping Tyson Griffin\Jim Miller makes the PPV instead. Griffin is always in the best fight of the night, and Miller is a real good up and comer (plus he's a local guy I used to see fight at small shows not long ago). This fight is gonna be great. I just can't see how anyone doesn't love this card. TFK
I think it might be a case of too much too soon for Cain. He doesn't seem to be a very hard puncher. I think Nog will take him. Probably by submission.
I kind of agree with you Baron, not so much that it's a big step up but the styles clash is not the best for a guy like Cain who depends on being able to control you on the ground. Cain's style works great with strikers, but once he's in there with someone who is either a better wrestler or has great BJJ such as Nog, he may wind up in trouble. It's possible that Cain is able to keep it standing, but I'm not even sure he can beat Nog standing, he's got no power really. Good fight though, I'm looking forward to it.
...good fight. So far, Cain has overwhelmed guys on the ground, they just didn't know how to deal with him. Nog's ground game is so good, and he brings a lot of experience with him....he's seen it all. Cain's activity on the ground may outwork Nog, but one mistake...and he could have his arm ripped out of socket.
Rothwell was a pretty big step down from Kongo. I'm not going to say Nog isn't a step up, it is, but what does Nog really have left? Is he even a top guy anymore? Sure he beat Randy, but what does Randy have left?
Rothwell has looked good in a lot of fights. I've been a fan of his from way back. I think we've seen the best of him and he's not good enough to beat the top heavies, but neither is Kongo. I never saw the appeal in Kongo. By the way, Rothwell will be facing Mirko Cro-Crop in Australia next year. I think that's a great fight for Rothwell. Mirko takes more shots than a Rapper's Entourage, and Ben will sit back and tee off on him all day. Mirko can't pull the trigger on those high kicks like he used to. I see Rothwell putting the final nail in Cro-Cop's coffin. TFK
Kongo already has a win over CroCop so if Rothwell is "better" he had better beat this even more shot version of Mirko. :stir:
I didn't think I'd ever see a debate on this forum on who sucks more, Kongo or Rothwell:: I think Cain dominates today's version of Nog. The only chance Nog has, IMO, is catching a sub. Cain is too young, too strong. It could be a bit of a stinker, Cain taking him down at the beginning of each round and pounding on him till the ref stands it up or the round ends. Cain by UD.
I would much rather debate this with TFK than any number of the stupid threads in the boxing forum right now involving Double L and Dymipeple. ::
