I think a career KO percentage is more telling than up until he fought someone to determine power, don't you? I mean if not then we can assume Sean O Grady was a freaking monster puncher up until he fought Jim Watt. :: I look at Lou's record and try and pick out a really good fighter he KO'D and come up empty, pre or post Jones.
del valle got lazy and couldnt make light heavyweight anymore, after a while. del valle could punch, are you suggesting otherwise?
A Low KO Ratio DOESN'T Mean Shit when U're Counting Fights that R MORE than 10 Years PAST the Guys Prime... REED:hammert:
I don't think we can fault O'Grady for not KOing Watt when Watt went the distance with Arguello (an undisputable big puncher) in his next fight.
That's not what I was doing, I was saying that Sean's KO ratio was great up until that point. You know, upgrade in opposition.
I understand that, but you're making it sound like since O'Grady didn't knock out Watt, that means he couldn't punch. The KO percentage of most fighters drop once they start facing world class opposition. There are exceptions, of course, but that is what usually happens.
Because after the JMM fight he could have gone ahead and taken on Shane, but he didn't. He not only avoided Shane but claims he won't fight Shane at all, the linear welterweight champion. That is ducking. Now let's see if Floyd has the guts to take on Manny. I seriously doubt it.
Just like Shane could have fought Floyd in 99 or in 06. Shane said he wouldn't fight Floyd in 06 but by your biased Steriod Shane nuthugging thats ok and not ducking. Manny is the champ at 147 he just destroyed the guy that schooled Shane.
Look Roy was fighting on HBO, an American network. If Darius wanted to get it on he needed to come here and fight. Roy was obviously the bigger name and if he wanted to go to Germany, kudos to him. Really though, with Germany's iffy judging and refs and Roy still not over his Olympic robbery it's no wonder he refused. Like others here have said, Darius was just as guilty for not fighting over here. Darius knew he needed the protection of his judges just like Ottke did. I get on Roy about other opponents he failed to fight but Darius is one where I don't really blame Roy.
