Matchups: Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin (No. 5 LHW) Josh Koscheck (No. 5 WW) vs. Anthony Johnson Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (No. 9 LHW) vs. Luis Arthur Cane (No. 8 LHW) Amir Sadollah vs. Phil Baroni Paulo Thiago (No. 6 WW) vs. Jacob Volkmann Marcus Davis vs. Ben Saunders Kendall Grove vs. Jake Rosholt Brock Larson vs. Brian Foster Caol Uno vs. Fabricio Camoes George Sotiropoulos vs. Jason Dent Decent card, the top two fights should provide plenty of excitement, little nog vs cane could be a good one too. Who have people got? I'm going Ortiz KO, Johnson KO, Little Nog by sub.
Really looking for Johnson vs. Koscheck. I think Johnson is a great fighter. KOS brings it every time as well. Definately should see fireworks here. Cane vs. Little Nog should be fun too. Curious to see if the surgery will have rejuvinated Tito. As much as I hate his cocky attitude, Id love him to free us of the hypejob that is Forrest Griffin. The guy is just......blah.
two fights I am really looking forward to seeing the outcome, mainly because I'm not sure they will be televised is Grove/Rosholt and Sadollah/Baroni. Rosholt has such a strong wrestling base, I truly think he will be an MMA badass soon. But Grove is a very awkward matchup and he is really good. Tough one to call. We all know Baroni is going to come out guns blazin, will be interesting if Sadollah has the sack to weather the storm.
fuck....did an accumlator tonight, thought it'd make the night more exciting. It's over for me already cos Brock Larson, my nailed on 1/6 has lost via 2nd round submission. If all the other results come through for me tonight, i'm gonna be pissed off!
I had Larson in a parlay, when he lost the last time out. ANOTHER UNDERCARD SPOILER ALERT: I´m already pleased I had $200@2.6 on Grove. Basically my only big bet, went small on Dent, Camenous and a Davis/Saddollah parlay, who all lost or pushed. That will teach me never to back favs in UFC again. Should have gone with Saunders instead. Very stupid.
Cane has eight KO wins in MMA. Hilarious. His boxing was so bad, he couldn´t be a sparring partner for a tomato can.
it's funny that koschek claims to be the #1 contender when his buddy jon fitch is clearly the best welterweight after GSP.
No I think Cane sucks. I´m impressed by actual athletes like Aldo or Henderson, but Cane is a fuckin can. I don´t even know you can teach a guy to be that horrible. Isn´t the natural instinct of a human being to raise his hands when he gets punched in the face or move their head, when the telegraphed punches are coming? ::
ortiz is getting out boxed. this is kinda like their first fight except much slower. griffin should win should he be able to defend tito's takedown attempts.
i don't think tito landed a single shot in the third round. Forrest Griffin=mma's Willie Pep? :hammert:
i'm not a big fan of griffin but it's hard not to root for the guy. that was a solid win considering he was coming off two brutal knockout losses.
first half of first round was all stand up with both landing several decent shots. Then after a ground scramble Johnson threw an illegal knee and an eye poke and Koscheck looked like he had real problems with his eye during the break and the doctor looked like he may stop it but let it go. The fight resumed and Koscheck poked Johnson in the eye before he took him down. In the second round another eye poke to Johnson. Koscheck takes him down works soem ground and pound and locks in the choke.
Johnson gets choked out by Koscheck, who would have guessed. :: Maybe Johnson isn't that good unless he's 6 pounds over. :stir:
Koscheck straight up tried to quit. Look at the replay, the knee was BLOCKED by Koscheck's arm. It did not land at all. I watched it a bunch of times from every angle. That knee did not land. He was not winning the stand up and I thought he was looking for a way out. Funny that he ended up winning the fight he almost quit in. ::
