    By Gabriel F. Cordero
The three-time world champion Miguel Cotto, has declared in Puerto Rico that he expects to retire from boxing when he turns 30 on October 29, 2010. “Ten months will fly by, so one, maybe two more fights, and I will completely retire from boxing,â€￾ he said. “I’ve been champion three times and I’m satisfied with what I’ve done. I’ll be very satisfied with whatever God gives me the opportunity to achieve during the ten months remaining.â€￾ Cotto is expected back in the ring in June against an opponent to be named.

Interesting that Cotto might retire next year after winning titles in three divisions and facing the best opponents of those divisions while his contemporary Chavez Jr. still hasn't faced a recognizable opponent nor won any wotld title, but has made almost as much money as Cotto.:notallthere:

Good for him....if he is gonna have one final fight he should make it meaningful ....the winner of Berto vs. Mosley, Mayweather or a rematch vs. Margarito.....

Chavez jr did not have an amateur career and is a bum and won't amount to much as a pro....has he really made that much money? How much do he get paid per fight??

I think thats BS, theres no way JC junior made as much money as Cotto. He's obviously made alot for his talent level, but thats because of his name value, some people are just lucky enough to be born into money.

He needs to hang'em up NOW! Once you start talking retirement, you are already retired. His last 2 fights won't be anything close to his best performances.

According to this other thread he ain't making even that

"According to the complaint, Chavez, 23, faces a suspension of up to nine months and a fine that could equal his entire $100,000 purse"

So basically that notion is complete BS as suspected, Cotto could make more in 2 or 3 fights than Chavez' entire career.

    I disagree.
He would probably lose any of those matches, and take a beating in the process. He needs to fight some can and just obliterate him then retire happily with millions.
