David Haye has challenged Vitali Klitschko to prove his legacy by fighting him, insisting the Ukrainian's greatest performance to date was a loss to Lennox Lewis. Klitschko puts his WBC heavyweight title on the line this weekend when he faces American Kevin Johnson in Berne, Switzerland. Having claimed the WBA belt with a points win over Nikolai Valuev in November, Haye is hoping he might be next in line. However, the Londoner would also be happy to fight Vitali's younger brother Wladimir, who currently holds the IBF and WBO straps. Legacy "I want to knock out both Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, and I don't care what order they fall in," said Haye. "Vitali is nearly 40 years of age now and the clock is ticking if he wants to form any sort of legacy. "There are probably one million dudes in America called Kevin Johnson, and beating one of them doesn't make you an all-time great heavyweight. "Vitali's greatest performance to date is a loss to Lennox Lewis. That's his most memorable fight and the one result on his record that will be remembered in the history books. "The Klitschkos don't care about being great fighters, whereas I do. "They may be big in Switzerland, but so are yodellers, and nobody wants to watch them fight." Although he will be watching, Haye has labelled Vitali's bout with Johnson as "one of the most unappealing heavyweight title fights in a while". Toblerones "I'll be watching the fight, but only because I have an interest in meeting Vitali next year," he added. "As far as the fight itself goes, it's one of the most unappealing heavyweight title fights for a while - and that's saying something," added the 29-year-old. "The fact that a title fight between a Ukrainian and an American is being held in Switzerland tells you all you need to know about the appeal of this fight. "Heavyweight title fights should be huge events, not an after-thought in a country most famous for producing Toblerones." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12183_5760643,00.html
A racist generalisation of black Americans by a resident cypriot half-arab who waves the British flag in return for money, that's the way I see it. :crafty:
And he has excellent timing. Due a mandatory with Ruiz and a rematch with Valuev he runs his mouth again. He knows Vitali would destroy him. ::
Here's the Thing... We can All DEBATE Haye's WORTH as a Heavyweight "Titlist", but is there ANY Doubt Who the Most INTERESTING Heavyweight of 2009 has Been???....ANYTIME a David Haye Thread is Posted, REED IMMEDIATELY Checks it Out...Ditto for ANY of his Video Links... If Only SLIGHTLY, David Haye was Made the Heavyweight Division LESS Boring... REED:hammert:
In a FIGHT, Probably Not...In Terms of INTERVIEWS, Haye has Managed to GENERATE Appeal...Johnson's a GOOD Shittalker in his Own Right, but NOBODY in Boxing Really CARES about what he Says, Unfortunately... Even Though REED Expects him to LOSE To Vitali, REED has Actually LIKED What he's Seen from Kevin Johnson Over the Last Few Years...Decent Size, Athletic, GREAT Jab...& he FIGHTS w/a Swagger...Haye would have a PUNCHER'S Chance, but REED would Favor Kevin Johnson to Beat him, Head to Head.... REED:hammert:
Haye owned Wlad!.. The WBA stripped Chagaev of his title for trying to unify it against Wlad, and passed it on to the pre-determined outcome of Valuev - Haye, and now Haye owns Wlad's title and he didn't even have to fight him to get it! :: hahahaha Haye OWNZ,...hahahahaha how refreshing and interesting.
In fairness, the Klits' promotional company were only willing to give him a title shot in return for a long list of future options, rematches with either brother, in a site of their choosing etc. etc...I never thought Haye deserved a title shot straight off but regardless, I don't blame him from walking away from that... Instead, he cut a more generous deal with Sauerland, grabbed a title, and now has the potential to cut a more equitable deal with the klits. I'd be happier if he established himself further by fighting Ruiz and the likes of a Chagaev in 2010 before fighting Klit in late 2010, early 2011
Haye's real brave now. If only he was as brave as he claimed he was when Wlad and Vitali both signed to fight him.
More exciting? By talking trash and not performing in the actual ring? Fuck Haye. He should shut his fucking pie hole, his fight with Valuev was as disgusting as any Klitschko fight ever. He talked a good game BEFORE that fight too, he was going to knock the giant out, what did he do? Stink the place up is what he did. All bark, no bite. I cannot wait to see this fraud out cold. Ruiz will beat him.
Exactly. He could have fought either one of them. He did not when he had a chance to do so. That is more telling than anything that comes out of his big mouth.
Haye is quite funny when he talks shit, but I can't take him seriously or really find his shit talk funny now that he talked shit before and then ducked the Klitschko's. It was rather pathetic. Shit talk can only be tolerated and embraced if you can back it up. Haye is simply full of shit, and his fight with Valuev was pathetic.
I'd be much more impressed if Haye were to actually make a serious effort to back up the ridiculous amount of trash talking he does. Until he actually beats (or even fights) a Klitchsko, he is nothing more than a question mark with a big mouth.
The valuev fight no doubt left him a question mark, but if he were to beat any of following aside from a Klitschko, his credentials would IMO be solidified: chambers, povetkin, chagaev, solis......or to a lesser extent, two or more of the following: ruiz, arreola, Kevin Johnson, manuel quezada, Boystov
Ruiz will beat Haye and any of the Klitschkos (Vitaly in particular), The difference is......None of the cowardly brothers will fight him, unlike Haye who has the balls to step up.
I'd pick Tony Thompson over all of those except fot Povetkin and Boytsov. That being said, yes, Haye is only one solid victory away from being maybe the most worthy contender. It does not take that much
Forgot Thompson, however I would stick him in the second bin. For all complaints about the standard of the division, if you look at the 10-12 listed, it could make for some very entertaining match-ups if the contenders actually had to fight each other to get a shot at the brothers
I guess David's memory is about as limited as his IQ. I would have sworn that Haye (a Brit) and Valuev (a Russian) just fought in Germany....a country best known for baked Jewish products.
Boytsov is the new Dimitrenko. Alarming signals against a shot Bidenko and won´t carry his new found muscle mass for 12 rounds. If somebody puts pressure and punches on him, he´ll crumble.
You might be right but I didnt see it against Bidenko, I thought he looked pretty cool and fought like he knew he had more weapons and didn't have to worry much about what Bidenko had. His dubious muscle mass raises alarm bells but I couldn't see what was worrying about the Bidenko fight.
He's got some impressive traits though,..he sort of rips them in either just before he's attacked (timing) or flashes during a slight over extension from his opponent,.. he's one of those fighters I believe may get exposed, but may also cause alot of upsets alng the way.
