I never saw this talked about over here, a little late but still a great move for Strikeforce. I personally can't stand Noons. But he's a good fighter and makes some nice fights at lightweight. Maybe even a rematch with Diaz. by Loretta Hunt (lhunt@sherdog.com) K.J. Noons has signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce, Sherdog.com has learned from sources familiar with the negotiations. The former EliteXC champion could make his lightweight debut for the promotion at Strikeforce “Evolution†on Dec. 19 in San Jose, Calif., although Noons’ return is likely for Strikeforce’s Jan. 30 event in Sunrise, Fla. Noons was stripped of his EliteXC 160-pound title in September 2008 during a contract dispute. EliteXC and parent company Pro Elite closed its doors shortly afterward and the Hawaiian-born fighter delved back into professional boxing, going 4-1 in the last year. Noons earned a six-round decision over Julio Perez on Nov. 10 in Houston. The 26-year-old kickboxer has key MMA victories over former UFC contender Yves Edwards and Nick Diaz, who also remains in Strikeforce’s 170- and 185-pound ranks. Noons bested the mouthy Stockton, Calif. native with a second-round TKO on cuts in September 2007. Words between the fighters and their families ensued in the cage, but a rematch never materialized.
Good Move for K.J.... REED Actually Tried to Get him to Fight Charles Hatley for a HANDSOME Sum, but he Declined...Noons has Good MMA Boxing, but he ISN'T a "Boxer", Per Se.... REED:hammert:
Hatley would have fucked him up bad. Of course he didn't take it you big bully REED! :: I hope Noons grew a pair and is ready for the Diaz rematch, that is the only fight I care to see him in right now.
REED said it best, he has good "MMA Boxing" but he is definitely not a "Boxer". Sure you can feed him a few cans, but as soon as he even slightly steps up he'll get blasted in a boxing ring. Very similar to Mayorga, just reversed:: Come on, Z, you know you would like to see Noons/Thompson! Who wouldn't?
I always liked Noons because he beat the stupid out of Nick Diaz, who I never could stand. Good pickup for Strike Force, and exactly what they need to be doing. Any fighter that's any kind of a name that isn't under contract with the UFC needs to be picked up by Strike Force. They have some good fighters, but they need depth if they're gonna succeed. TFK
No! :: For me, it's Diaz or I don't care. It's his fault I feel this way, he quit MMA when they tried to have him fight Diaz in a rematch. Who turns down a fight like that? He complained about Diaz's pay being more than his, well beat the guy up twice and make your point that much clearer. Instead he just quit MMA.
Yeah, REED was Admittedly Just Looking for a NAME to Put on Hatley's Resume::...K.J. was a Pretty Cool Guy though, the Brief Time that REED Spoke to him... REED:hammert:
agREED... Mayorga's "Ground Game" will Probably Make Kimbo & Houston Alexander Look like BJJ Black Belts... REED::
