#1. What the fuck happened to this forum. It's dead.

#2. I don't watch MMA often but this was a fun card. Lots of stand-up fighting, not as much ground grappling as I normally see.

#3. Great moment for Scott Smith. Getting dominated by Cung Le and pulling it out of the fire.

#4. In the end I am still disgusted by the whole event. What a cheesy fucking operation Strikeforce is. From the announcers straight out of the WWE to the constant shilling for the sponsors.

It's not enough that there's a giant Rockstar Energy Drink Sign the fighters were slipping on in the middle of the cage. They made the winning fighters hold cans of that shit in their hands from the moment they won the fight to the moment they left the ring.

Way to destroy Scott Smith's great moment at the end of the fight. Picture Rocky Balboa just defeating Apollo Creed at the end of Rocky II. Rocky's bleedin' all over the ring, fought the fight of his life, all he wants to do is tell Adrian he loves her and savor the greatest moment of his life.

In the ring comes a couple ad execs.............they tell Rock to quit his whining and put on this Affliction T-Shirt, quick like before the camera goes to commericial. Oh, don't forget this oversize hat for Poker.net. It doesn't matter that you're overheated, they have banners all over the ring and it's not raining indoors, so you don't really need a hat. Put on the fuckin' hat.........and don't you dare bleed on it.

Lastly, hold this can...................hold on, we'll pop the top for you so it looks like you're quenching your thirst with this battery acid after a hard fight in the ring. Make sure you hold it up to the camera during your interview and........................oh hell, throw them out a shout-out while you're at it.

"Yo Adrian.............I love Rockstar Energy Drink!"

I know you need ad dollars to survive these days but that was fucking disgusting. It was like what would happen if Nascar got pimped out at the Players Ball or something. :shit:

The Rockstar shit was a bit much, but noooooooo way could it take from a GREAT NIGHT OF FIGHTS!!!!!!:cheer:

King Mo is fucking legit folks. Mike Whitehead is not an elte HW, but he isn't a can neither. The guy is a decent veteran of MMA and King Mo straight up punked his ass.:cheer: King Mo needs to be a LtHW, he is a legitimate threat and force there.

I have met Matt Lindland. Great guy and great coach. He needs to give up fighting and stick to coaching. He is just too far past it. With that said, Jacare is a beast. I think he destroys Shields.

Gilbert Melendez has improved, Josh Thompson has not. That is all there is to it. With that said, this was a great fight and I want to see the third fight!:cheer:

If you don't like Scott Smith, I hate you. This guy is ALL HEART. I know he isn't world class, and I know he will get beat by alot of guys at 185. But fuck I love this guy.

If you voted for Carano/Cyborg for the rematch you most wanted to see you are either a lesbian or a fucking idiot.

Fights I want to see out of this night.

    Thompson/Melendez 3
    King Mo/Sokodjou
    Scott Smith/Mayhem Miller
    Jacare/Shields

I have no fucking interest in seeing Hendo/Fedor, does anyone? I would much rather see Fedor fight all of the HW division first and see Dan fight all of the MW division. Strikeforce needs to stop that false hype bullshit.

I have put half a bottle of Crown away and I'm going out to fucking party!:hammert:

this was an unbelievable night of fights. I knew that scott was going to catch Cung. I just kept saying it to myself. Cung kept taking too many chances and was just doing stupid shit in there. And you cant do that with SS. Ring Rust is a bitch. I can guarantee you that if Cung fights him again, the shit ends in the first round with Cung knocking him out, but tonight, cung was just not doing what he needed to do.

Gilbert Melendez vs. Thompson? What can i say. Fight of the year.

WOW! Great night of fights. I could give a shit about the endorsement shit, the fights were well worth it.

King Mo looked good, but Whitehead has always been shit, and came into this fight very heavy. It is definately time for King Mo to step up his game now, and see if his record can keep up with his mouth.

Jacare is the real deal. His strand up has greatly improved and his ground game is just scary. Every time he is on the ground I cringe waining for him to snap something. Lindland looks old as shit, time to retire.

Thompson/Melendez was a great fight. Both guys fought their hearts out and didnt stop till the final bell. Tons of back and forth action from these guys for definate FOTY candidate.

What can you say about Scott Smith? The MMA Rocky Balboa. Kind of good to see cocky ass wanna be movie star Cung Le get KTFO. I always thought we was overrated. Basically all he has is kicks.

Another great Strikeforce event. Im telling you now. It will only be a matter of time before cocksucker Dana White is feeling the heat from Strikeforce.:cheer:

I dont know why people hate on Le. I dont find him Cocky as hell. I think his style is terrific and would enjoy a fight between him and someone like Machida. He was beating the shit out of Smith, but he was off for two years and could not finish him. But it doesnt matter. This is mma. People lose and this card was fun.

And Gatti this was on Showtime. Terribly promoted BTW.

I was away for the weekend so I just watched the fight on DVR now, and holy crap! How can you not love Scott Smith. If the guy had half the talent that he does heart, he'd be right up there with Fedor.

Cung was beating the beJesus out of Smith for 2 1/2 rounds, but like we've seen with Pete Sell and Benji Radich, Smith is never out of a fight.

I watched the King Mo fight too, can't wait to see him face some tougher competition.

I'll watch the rest of the card after football...but damn, what a win for Smith.

I can't believe you guys are ok with them pimping the fighters out as billboards like that.

I honestly was saddened watching the interview with Scott Smith after his fight with Cung Le. :dunno:

The whole sponsorship thing does get to me a little...i've gotten more and more used to it. I don't think strikeforce on the whole is any worse than UFC but when Scott Smith immediately came out with 'that was a rock star energy drink finish to that fight' i felt sick as if i had just necked 30 cans of the stuff.

Smith was lucky not to get stopped in the first round when he just rolled up into a shell....McCarthy was very close to jumping in.

Melendez-Thompson was awesome...particuarly rounds 2 and 5. I think that win now means that Melendez has avenged his defeats, which illustrates how much he has improved.

I was most impressed with Jacare....like Damian Maia, he's got top draw BJJ, but he looked a lot more competent in his striking....he looked a big middleweight too. Strikeforce's middleweight division is really strong, by far their strongest.

The Hendo-Fedor hype is irritating. It actually undermines Strikeforce, because it is such a desperate piece of match making if they do go for it.

Henderson fighting Fedor?? WTF? Dan is a middleweight  He'd get brutally stopped in half a round.

I really like Josh Thomson. He is great fun to watch, and perhaps the least sore loser ever.

He also has a very tough face. His face looked fine after the fight, and Melendez was all bashed up.

I'm on the "how can you not love Scott Smith?" bandwagon.

The guy is a prime example of how just heart and determination can win you fights.

Even if fighters don't quit literally, a lot of them quit mentally, and sort of stop trying to win.

But Cung Le is no bum, he can clearly fight. He was doing a number on smith, at least as much as Nick Diaz was.

I don't get the hate for Cung either.

Cocky? That's just stupid, he's not cocky at all. He is not cocky in the ring, and he is not cocky out of the ring.

Le shouldn't have tried any of that ground bullshit, he just sucks like hell on the ground, plus it tired the fuck out of him. If he had kept the fight standing, he could have continued punking Smith for another 5 rounds.

The cockiness that I refer to isn't his personality per se. It has more to do with the fact that he thinks he can keep doing movies and fighting "on the side" without missing a beat, which clearly came back and bit him in the ass.

That's wouldn't be cockiness, it'd be stupidity. Besides he didn't do it on the side. When Le was filming his movies he sat out completely from competition. Once he finished filming he resumed his fighting career. The only mistake I can see from him was he probably didn't get all the rust out.

By the way, I say the add for this fight on Saturday got excited and then totally forgot about it while I was watching the Saints get beat.

Fair enough Bob, but like lb4lb just said, that's not really cockiness at all. That's just stupidity.

He made a mistake thinking he could do both, but to fight at a high level it needs 100% focus. You can do both, but the fighting has to come first, and have big priority.

PS - It's been years since I've seen a night of fights as good as these in the UFC.

For whatever reason, most UFC fights these days seem to be mind numbingly boring dry hump affairs.

But yes, that Rockstar shit was a bit much. That Mo fella took it a bit far, guzzling it and pouring it over his head etc

Smith didn't even take a sip, just stood there holding the can awkwardly

rewatching it, I think King Mo was in a way making fun of the sponsorship, as in how much they were shoving it down us and the fighter's throats. I might be wrong, but I don't think so.

I agree, this was a great night of fights. Strikeforce has the goods to be very competitive. I will say they need to forget about the Hendo/Fedor fight as well as shoving the boring ass chick fights down our throats. Enough already. You could even tell Dan was fed up with the questions about Fedor.

TUF Finale 9 was a great night of fights
UFC 100 was a great night of fights
UFC 106 wasnt half bad either.

UFC 92 was one of the greatest MMA PPVs ever.

for the most part, I am usually always happy with UFC cards. I wasn't a big fan of Ortiz/Griffin 2. That one was a rediculous mainevent.

Jackson/Silva nothing happened until the KO. Mir kicked Noguiera's ass. Griffin/Evans was a good title fight. Good card, not that special.

Jackson Silva was one round with a KO. Jackson had never beaten silva. And now he he beat him by KO. Nog and Mir was a good beat down for the Title. You had three fights in one card, which all could have easily been the main event.

that's because you're stupid. A jackon KO was ridiculous. You couldnt ask for anything more than that. Mir came out looking like Ali beating the shit out of Nog. Who would have expected that? And Evans vs. Forrest was a great fight.
