Indeed, Manny has also agreed to do a blood test before the kick off press conference and after the fight as well as the urinalysis. Is that not good enough? Perhaps there are performance enhancing drugs which will be untraceable in blood and urine in that period of time? Is there an expert on the subject here at fightbeat?

I've changed my mind.

Freddie himself said he has trouble giving Pacman protein shakes and vitamins, and Pacman doesn't even know what HGH is. Who are we to doubt him?

You have to remember Pacman's background is a raw arse Filipino boy, used to sleeping on the floor etc.

In all seriousness, I don't really know what to think.

Are we to believe that Pacman WOULD agree to some mid camp test, just not THAT close to the fight, like a day or two?

I really am hoping he's clean, and the reason for this is he and his camp don't want to be bullied around by Mayweather, plus maybe he legitimately doesn't want the chance of giving blood a day before the fight, seeing as he also said random urine testing was fine.

I wish I knew more about steroids actually, how detectable they are, how plausible it is for them to NOT be detected in urine, how long the traces stay in the body.

Because obvously Pacquiao never has been caught doping, but a decent amount of fighters have, under normal testing rules not "olympic" style.

But again, I don't really know enough about the whole steroid scene, and the logistics on a technical level.

These days so many pro athletes are on some sort of PED that nothing would surprise me.

Even the gym I work out at, when the subject of HGH comes up, the names Shane Mosley, Manny Pacquiao, and yes, FLOYD MAYWEATHER always come up. Its no big deal because IMO what you cannot prove, is not so. If you can prove it, then ok you have something to talk about.


I don't believe Manny is juicing(I hope not, I geniuinely like him as a fighter and he seems like a good person). But if he's refusing to allow himself to be tested when his opponent has himself agreed to the test, then that will look very suspicious.

 

I agree and am thinking the same thing. To hold both of these fighters to a different standard that no other fighters have to is rather retarded as well. Should the fight not come off Mayweather was scared and Pac had something to hide.

 

The fight will still happen...both teams are flexing their muscles (...steroid-induced or not).

It was a bad idea for Pacquaio's camp to make over-the-top demands about Mayweather coming in on weight. $10 million a lb is just absurd. Whether or not the drug testing request had already been made by this point, or it quickly followed because of this, i don't know....but it didn't take long for golden boy to go public with it.

 

One more thing is I wish they only tested for urine - ie that everything WAS detectable through urine, as that would narrow down the excuses.

Because although it could well be a lame excuse by the Pacman camp, I genuinely do have a phobia of needles.

Pacman agreed the random urine testing. Is that because whatever he's taking doesn't show up in urine, or because he really does hate having blood taken?

I've got to say too, that 10 tests does seem a little excessive and disruptive. I'm kind of surprised that even Floyd is OK with that himself.

I would have thought it would be like a test before the fight, maybe two random tests during camp, then a test after the fight.

As I said I know nothing about steroids, but I do know about drugs in general, and I don't know of ANY drug that leaves your body that quick, which is why I suggested that 10 random tests is excessive. That could well be a test every 5 days or so.
