http://mmajunkie.com/news/17397/dan...champ-takanori-gomi-now-with-ufc.mma#comments Gomi is past it, but still a good addition to a loaded 155 division. Would love to see him against someone like Tyson Griffin. For a while, Gomi was arguably the best lightweight in MMA. His war with Nick Diaz is the fight that put Diaz on the map. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1v29meWabRc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1v29meWabRc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JvZATQO8c8A&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JvZATQO8c8A&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> TFK
If Gomi dedicates himself to training, he can be a force. I dont think anyone at 155 can trade with him.
gogoplata? I thought they always say uma plata or omo plata? Or are they different moves? The thing Diaz got Gomi in looks like he might have tapped due to the shin choking him and not the shoulder?
I was a really big fan of Gomi's back when Pride was still around. Lately, it seems like he insists on not giving a shit. If he shapes up, he might be a solid match-up for just about anyone. His lack of a ground game is going to get him in a lot of trouble, regardless.
Gomi is shot? That just seems weird. For a start he looks young, and also it only seemed like a few years ago that he got noticed. I remember when he KO'd Half Gracie with that flying knee in seconds, classic. I haven't seen Gomi fight for a while though, I have no idea how he looks these days.
My guess is Gomi goes about say 0-4 or maybe 1-3 in the UFC before he gets canned. He's already lost pretty badly to a dope smoking Diaz and got annihilated by Penn. Prime or not Gomi would never stay champ for long in the UFC.
I wouldn't go that far. Whether or not Gomi is as good as he was, would you not say he is an exciting fighter? OK he might not clean up the division, but he'll be in some good fights, surely.
A career revitalization is imminent. The fight should happen soon enough. I suspect Gomi is in another league than Ken-Flo and he'll prove it.
Looks like Gomi\Florian is gonna take place at 111. That card is already loaded with Mir\Carwin, GSP\Hardy, Fitch\Alves 2, and Almeida\TBA. Add Gomi\Florian to that, and that is a stacked f'n card. TFK
Damn, that is a great card. you almost have to hope Gomi wins, just for the thought of Penn/Gomi 2. TLC might have something with Gomi revitalizing his career, but I doubt it. I am pretty sure Gomi's best days are behind him and Kenny just keeps getting better.
That's worthy of a PPV, unlike 108. Not too thrilled about GSP/Hardy. GSP has cleaned out the division. Hardy doesn't deserve a shot.
I'm amazed they are putting him in with Millhouse as his first fight. You'd think they'd give him a tune-up. I'll be rooting for Gomi, but if Gomi really is past it, I can't see him beating Millhouse.
I don't think we'll ever see BJ\Gomi 2. If it does happen, I'd hate to think of what BJ would do to Gomi. It would be a homocide. TFK
Gomi has very heavy hands and at the end of the day, that can be a real equaliser in any fight. Florian is a better fighter than Gomi at this point in time, but he's going to get hit at some point. What happen at that point will probably decide the fight.
I hope you're right Tam, I've always liked Gomi. To better assess his chances, I want to see his last couple of fights, but I couldn't get them to load on youtube.
