I can't find any info about it. Was it cancelled, postponed or just completely ignored by the media and fans? :dunno:
Yep G has bigger fish to fry than ensuring Mosley does good numbers. It's all about PED accusations in 2010 baby!
DiBella should do more too. Anyways its not like its PPV. It'll be sold out and on HBO so whats more to promote? :stir:
You're being facetious, right? BTW, I'm with you on Berto pulling off the upset. I've always regarded Berto as Jermain Taylor-lite in terms of development and talent, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if the ending to this fight was Taylor-Hopkins I all over again. Shane coming off of a year-long layoff won't bode well for him.
It's not an endorsement for Berto by any stretch. More so the belief that Shane will finally show his age after having been away for more than a year.
Could happen, I guess I just really don't think much of Berto and even a declining Mosley should beat him.
I'm really starting to look forward to this fight. No result would surprise me... I don't feel like I can make a solid prediction because Mosley's condition after a year off is a real wildcard. Even if he hasn't deteriorated physically, I question if Shane is let down mentally with a Berto fight rather than a real, big super fight? Berto's chin, however, will probably let him down.
There's NO "Probably" To It... Berto's Chin WILL Let him Down @ Some Point During the Fight...Regardless How AGED Shane May or May Not Look, there's NOfuckingWAY Berto will Make it 12 FULL Rounds w/Out Getting CLOCKED @ Least a Handful of Times...& his Chin WILL NOT Hold Up... REED:mj:
I keep forgetting how small Berto is...small as in stature. I think he's cock stronger but so is Shane. if Shane's smart he'll make Berto come to him. The "onliest" chance I give Berto is if Shane follows him and walks into quick counters. Outside of that...as you said...once Berto's clipped with a good shot the fight changes. I think he'll handle the shots well, but down the stretch as he tires he runs into trouble. Don't be fooled, this version of Shane has a handspeed disadvantage...he can win this on experience and smarts. On another board I compared this fight to Marquez vs Diaz...Diaz started fast, Marquez figured him out then laid him out.
VERY Good Comparison... REED Expects Shane to Have SOME Problems Early, yet Score a Mid to Late Rounds KO, ala Marquez...REED is Even EXPECTING Shane to B BEHIND on the Scorecards @ the Time of Stoppage... REED:mj:
Berto will definitely have some success early using his speed and his legs. This will only make it worse down the stretch, kind of like Freitas vs Chico. He will eventually tire and get caught.
Plus, I don't think he breaks distance well coming in...shane has opportunities to catch him coming in and going out. I'm sure at some point Berto will land a bunch of flashy shit, Shane will shake it off then say fuck it and walk straight to him...just like the cotto fight. I don't believe Berto's got the chin or balls to handle the shots Cotto took. I also don't think he's got the seasoning to effectively counterpunch and conserve energy like Cotto. He'll either fall in and hold or stay so far away it'll make the last few rounds of DLH-Trinidad look like Corrales-Castillo I.
why is it that whenever mosley fights a non marquee name fighter, no one gives a flying fuck? he's one of the best fighters in the world and has been (albeit inconsistent) for the last decade and half, but the guy can't draw for shit unless he fights a well known mexican or mexican american. it's quite surprising that how famous mosley is, yet still, the guy doesn't have a true following anywhere in the united states. it's also quite amusing that based on his previous ticket sales in vegas against a non-oscar or vargas, G continues to place his fights at mandalay bay.
I agree with you. Shane used to be one of my absolute favourites, I just don't know why he isn't more popular than he is. I admit, I lost interest in him a bit after the Forrest fights, because he didn't seem the same. He seemed to lose some confidence, luster, something, he didn't seem as good, or fun to watch. But albeit inconsistent, you're right, he has been one of the best fighters in the world for years, and he's almost always fun to watch. Far more fun than Flid for example, who was last fun to watch at what, 130, 135? It honestly baffles me. He's not the most electric character out of the ring, but he's likeable enough. And to me, someone like Tito was at least as boring as Shane character wise. As thick as 2 short planks, about 75% of his verbal material consisted of "Viva Puerto Rico" or something to do with Puerto Rico or Papa Trinidad. Shane's going to put the beatdown on Oh Boy Oh Berto.
