The guy NEVER STOPPED COMING FORWARD, for a guy to do that and get hit as little as he did, thats EXCELLENT defense

    boxrec has INCOMPLETE records

you can find 0-0 won/loss records dotting the early careers of literally 100s of fighters if you are just going by BoxRec

of course, all of this would be unnecessary if you had the reading comprehension to see that I never once said Chavez was the equal of Duran defensively

This is completely absurd and flatly untrue... Chavez in his prime in fights against his best opponents often held those opponents to exceptionally low connect percentages, especially when compared with his unusually high percentage of connects

I did read, and I never said you said he was the EQUAL of Duran defensively, but you're acting like he was close, and that simply isn't true. Against top opponents, he was far more hittable than Duran.

And taking Duran out of the equation altogether, he quite simply looked fairly hittable against good opponents.

I randomly picked two fights of his yesterday, Mayweather 1 and Rosario. He looked hittable enough in both of them. Not plasterito hittable no, but his defense didn't look close to being "excellent". Which is exactly what you said.

And yes, even for an aggressive fighter, his defense wasn't "excellent".

Cdogg, perhaps it's you who needs to learn how to read, and also to remember what you've written.

    1) - I didn't quote you as saying he was the "defensive equal" of Duran, so where on earth did you even get that from? Where is this lack of reading comprehension you speak of? You made the Duran comparison, my point is simply that he isn't even close to Duran defensively.

    2) - You said right there "Much like Roberto Duran". Now even if this shouldn't be interpreted as "His defense is just as good as Duran's". It at least suggests it's close. "Much like Duran" suggests he's almost as good as Duran defensively, and that's what I'm arguing against. That's simply not true. I'm also arguing against the idea that he is "excellent" defensively. Also not true. Against sharp fighters that had decent speed he got hit plenty.

    God man, READ.

I said he had the ability to counter while applying pressure MUCH LIKE ROBERTO DURAN

Where does that say anything about his defense against Duran's

as for the idea of him not being excellent for a fighter who applied that much pressure, name me 5 guys better EVER

just five in the whole history of boxing who applied the kind of pressure Chavez did while absorbing fewer shots than he did

The commentary for Chavez-Mayweather was priceless!

"He's a very handsome man, and very intelligent, also. He's a high school graduate!"
