I thought Ouma beat that Armenian kid. Of course, the Armenian has an upside so he got the decision. Actually, if he got his ass kicked by a shot Ouma, maybe they just kept him alive for a cashout. If this was a series to keep boxing in the public eye, it was an inauspicious start.
I thought it was close, 95-94 one way or the other. The official scorecards were ridiculous and Vanes looked like crap. Maybe Freddie kept him off the vitamines in the aftermath of the Pacquiao fiasco. :: Vanes didn´t look like he can handle adversity or a southpaw at all and if Ouma had a better punch, Vanes would have been in even bigger trouble. Before the fight Freddie said Vanes is ready for all the titlists at 154. He´s not even ready for Foreman let alone Martinez or Dzinziruk, who would shred him to pieces.
Agree totally. Ouma looked like a puncher in there. Vanes should stay at the club level for a few more W's and cash out on HBO where he will get stopped.
I saw the fight the same way. Vanes winning by a point would've been OK. The 97-92 card was a complete joke, giving Ouma only two rounds. The two cards that had Vanes winning 7 out of 10 rounds would've been a little more respectable if they gave Ouma credit for a 10-8 round. The judges scored that fight like Vegas workers fearful of paying out on the absurd 10-1 odds.
I thought Vanes edged it out, Ouma certainly made him work for it. It was a real close fight though. If Ouma would have closed the last couple rounds stronger he would have deserved the nod. I thought he lost a close one. Good fight though, I enjoyed it.
Close fight but it was an obvious scorecard to predict. Ouma was going to have to win rounds big to get any. Vanes still has a long way to go and Ouma's legs are real shaky these days.
