I started a post a few months ago about how I thought Diaz was worldclass,.......and how underrated I thought he was and I was ridiculed.
Alright guys calm down, I bet like a combined $90 on Manhoef and Zaromskis and that was my rage induced rant. :: And yes, I'm a teenager.
Just got a chance to catch the card then. Lawler's win is one of the cooler cat-outta-the-bag KO's I've seen in years. The final couple of was very Henderson v Bisping though....last shot defintely not needed.
yeah a tad, but it had nothing on Hendo in terms of the bastard stakes...I think it all happened pretty quickly and out of the blue for Lawler....Hendo had a brief moment, as he was flying through the air, to consider what he was about to do....'how much do i really hate this guy?....fuck it'......BAM!
Yeah, I actually liked Bisping getting crunched....but, still...that shit was wrong. I think this was too. Either way it doesn't take away from the sick KO. Lawler was getting royally fucked all round too.
The Lawlor KO was just plain sick. Manhoef looked dead. Did anyone notice it seemed like Diaz was actually putting some steam on his punches? Seemed to me like he was hitting harder than his usual slaps.
Maybe, it didn't strike me at the time....but usually Diaz's opponents last longer under the barrage than that...maybe Zaromskis just can't take a big punch? I've noticed with Diaz that he always goes harder to the body than the head....he's easily the best body puncher i've seen during my fairly young MMA fanship.
Diaz has got to be one of the better combination punchers in MMA right now. Who else throws punches like he does? I mean he doesn't have much pop, but he throws technically sound punches and he throws them in good combos and even goes to the body. He uses a very good variety of punches. I've been impressed with his stand up lately. He just shuts guys down with his work rate. If Diaz has power, it would be downright scary.
He still throws like aretard though. Put him in with a dude who he doesn't dwarf via reach and that style of throwing his hands out while exposing his chin is going to get him into a world of trouble. I don't mind the guy in the cage though. His fights are fun. I think he's retarded though. Seriously.

Hey, don't get me wrong here: Diaz is a tough motherfucker and an awkward dude to fight. He's skilled in his own way and it shows as he often abuses guys who have an amount of talent of their own. That doesn't change the simple fact that he is a hilight reel KO waiting to happen every time he steps into the cage.
I'm honestly surprised he lost to Sherk. I haven't seen the fight, have you? I've thought Diaz is legit and been a fan since he KO'd Lawlor, and would have thought he'd batter Sherk all over the place.
I think one of the main things we all tend to forget with Diaz is his age. The dude is YOUNG and only getting better. He lost some fights early that he should have won, but that is somewhat expected in MMA especially when you start fighting as young as Nick did. He is always evolving and getting better. I would love to see the Noons rematch, I think Diaz is far better today than he was in their fight. At 170 he is tall and lean. It is perfect for him. 185 is waay too big, and he has just outgrown 155.
Its all good, TLC, sorry for bustin on ya so hard. I really didn't know you were a teenager, I'd be pissed too if I lost some cash as well. I thought maybe you were drunk at the time but now it all makes sense:hammert:
Good point, you know I just happened to notice his age when looking at his wiki page the other day. I was like WTF, he is only 26?? He is younger than me. He doesn't actually look that young, and he's been fighting for ages, so I just assumed he was older, like maybe 32 or something. He was only 20 when he beat Lawler.
He might act like it, but just look at his face. It's ugly and rugged looking, he doesn't look like a young guy ::
the whole wannabe gangsta routine shows his age:: He has been in more wars than most that are ready to retire. The good thing for Nick he hasn't been on the losing end of hardly any of those wars and hasn't taken any brutal KO's thus far in his career. The crazy thing is, Nick can get soooo much better.
Ya, I try to be a little cash on every MMA event. I started with 50, got up to 142 after a great event at Penn vs Sanchez then end up going -$8. I was so sure about the Manhoef belt it was supposed to cover my losses when I went with Zaromskis(good odds) and he got knocked out with one punch. ::
Nick is improving, can't deny that. Defense still is laughable but he's pretty accurate with his hands. Don't agree with how good he is though, he'd do fairly well in the UFC but Alves would destroy him, GSP would beat him, Kos would beat him, and Daley would send him into next week.
He usually keeps his hands up, but sometimes he does that reaching out grabbing at his opponents hands crap that will eventually get him in trouble. His defense needs some work for sure. He is definitely improving though.
Alves and GSP would beat him up bad. I would pick Kos to take him down and Nick end up getting the sub. Nick beats Daley very easily, Daley has worse ground skills than Zaromskis and not as good takedown defense. Bad matchup for Daley.
I'd love to see Diaz fight any of those guys though, he's on such a roll lately. I agree about Daley, I think people are jumping the gun on this guy. Sure his striking looks good, but what else can he do? One trick pony.
The last two fights people have said the exact same thing. He will get taken down and subbed and it's a bad matchup. Last two fights, he's kod the guy before then. I made a killing off Daley vs Hazelett. Hazelett was favored. Not that Daley would definitely beat Diaz. But I see Diaz standing for a bit as usual and getting tagged. And Kos doesn't get subbed. :)
