Adamek decision coming up. Judging from some RbR it seems pretty even, which means 118-110 Adamek on the official cards.

At this point? I think so.

But JMM would give him big problems.

i agree. not saying that he wouldnt beat a title holder at 140, but guys like jurango and bradley look significantly bigger than valero.

who else is there to fight at 135? a few years ago, i figured joan guzman had the style to beat him, but we all saw what happened to guzman in his last fight. i think valero KOs funeka cold.

I think he just adjusts to whats in front of him. if he fights someone with a questionable chin, I have no doubt that he will go after him. He's just a great fighter. I've been really high on valero for a long time, and a swarmy speedy Southpaw is very hard to fight.

Yes.....the reason I mentioned it is because, for me, it is classic Old Bull vs Young Bull stuff. Youth and Power vs Guile and Experience. Would love it if they made it.:crafty:

Depends how much JMM has left. Despite the impressive KO's, he looked like he didn't really belong at lightweight, so maybe not. Plus Valero is young, hungry, and aggressive.

    Winner, Unan Decision....Adamek.

And thats the last time I watch anything featuring Estrada. Fuckers throws 5 punches and then celebrates like he just dominated the round.

Not enough. He was hurt by Juan Diaz. Valero is a better fighter than Diaz and obviously a bigger puncher.

Did he have trouble making 130?

Cos I have to say, he looks like a featherweight. He looks JMM size at best. Not very tall, and pretty slender.

And fair play, I thought Valero wasn't up to much before, but based on tonight I think he would hammer Funeka and Guzman.

Possibly yeah. Maybe I just happened to watch some fights where he didn't look great, because I was distinctly unimpressed - but based on tonight, he's the kind of fighter I like, and he can fight, no doubt.

Well some people say Estrada won, but might be that they hate Adamek or bet on Estrada. Anyway if they put Adamek in with Arreola he gets KTFO. Not that I blame Adamek for moving to heavyweight in search for a huge KO loss, if Cunningham and Godfrey really make 15.000 each for the IBF cruiserweight title fight.

i'm not sure, but i think he may have moved up to 135 because Linares (his stablemate at the time) moved up from 126 to 130 when they were both under the same japanese promotion.

Valero actually struggled to make 135 for this fight. he likes to party to much. I have heard he is done at 135 and moving to 140.

Valero looked gooood in there last night. He's begining to show what he has and even though he's not a big lightweight, the kid is going to be a real threat. He has all the skills.

It makes sense anyway, 135 is weak and there are some cracking fights to be made at 140. He could do with collecting some more state licences first though.

I was impressed....he showed some nous that i haven't seen from him before....there was more thought and method to his approach.

I don't understand, he looked like a completely different fighter than the one I'd seen before.

The 3 or so fights I'd seen of his at 130 he looked sloppy, wild, and his hands looked slow for a super featherweight too, his punches looked really telegraphed.

Yesterday he looked much, much better, basically like a different fighter. Maybe I saw his worst performances.

He looked sharper, more skilled, less wild, and had faster hands.

Val - that's seriously unbelievable. Well I guess not if he likes to party too much, but to me he looks like a featherweight. Pretty much the exact same height/build as Marquez for example, at 126/130.

I'm not sure 140 is a great idea. He'll have some success, he can obviously fight, and he is highly aggressive with decent power, but he'll be very undersized at 140, he's a small lightweight as it is.

Still, I would look forward to seeing him against Bradley, Maidana or Khan.

He's won me over now. I was seriously baffled at the fuss before, I must have picked some fights where he looked average.

And like I said, based on last night, he's exactly the sort of fighter I like - fast, powerful, skilled, and highly aggressive.

He's everything that makes boxing great. Violent, powerful.... just a mean motherfucker who can fight like hell. His training has been iffy, but when he's at the top of his game he's one of the very best fighters in the world, IMO. One of my major regrets about Manny's weight jumping was the fact a Valero fight didn't happen. I still maintain that Valero/Pacquiao would probably rival, if not exceed, Hagler/Hears in terms of first round greatness.

I still haven't seen the Demarco fight, I'll have my copy in 26 minutes. I always avoid spoilers but out of pure habit I went to maxboxing this morning when I woke up. Fuck. It's never the same when you know what happens.

Guess I didn't see the Terminator everybody else saw.

My first impression on Valero, he looked like a slower, but a bit more skilled version of Acelino Frietas.

I did not see the speed demon everybody else did. He was however very good a calculating his distance from his opponent. It helped that DeMarco was also painfully slow and telegraphed his punches from a mile away.

He also looked overweight to me. If it's true he parties a lot and thinks he's going to climb weight classes so he can continue to do so, his career is going to be painfully short.

Nice fight for him, but I'm not going to get carried away yet.
