I still think at lightweight Pacman would beat the absolute shit out of Valero. Valero is sort of Pacquiao lite. But I'm sure it would still be good, and Valero would give it some, and make a fight out of it while it lasted. It would have been fun to watch, for sure.

Regarding your last line, I totally agree. It's always best to watch the fight live, then not only do you not know what happens, but it hasn't even happened yet, it makes it even more exciting.

If you watch a recording the next day without knowing the result, it's still good, but you know the result is predetermined, it's already happened, and all the cheering or shouting in the world isn't going to change that

Then of course, when you know what happens, it's nowhere near as fun.

He's not particularly quick. But he is much quicker than I've seen him before. At 130 I was really confused at people saying he was fast. His punches were middleweight speed, and telegraphed.

    This shot is pretty funny.

By the way, I wonder how serious it is that Valero has that fractured skull. The reason he was refused a license in 2004 is because of an irregularity in a brain scan. That doesn't sound good.

140 is a bad idea for his career. although he would beat Khan, theres a lot of guys at 140 who beat him.

Yeah he would. Just because Khan picked up a belt from a guy who had the right style for him to beat don't mean all of a sudden he can take a shot. Valero knocks him out.

    Valero would dominate Khan.

I think Valero would probably smash Khan too. Khan has a shit chin, and there's absolutely no doubt that Valero would be able to land, and land often.

Basically there's more guarantee that Valero is going to land rather than someone like Maidana.

Val - who do you think would beat him at 140? Bradley perhaps? Bradley is fairly quick, can box a bit, and has a good chin. And despite being short, Bradley is a solid little 140 pounder, he's quite a bit "bigger" than Valero.

Bradley and that's who they are talking about fighting. I don't like Valero in that fight. Bradley's style is a pain in the ass.

I'd be very surprised if Khan beat Valero. IMHO Valero is one of about half a dozen fighters who persuaded Amir to decamp to 140.

He's a pretty horrific style matchup for Amir.

I can see Bradley outboxing Valero but I'm not sold on his chin.

    Bradley's too slick for Valero.

Oh really? I'm not sure I've seen Bradley hurt. I've seen him take the odd whack, and he seems to take them well.

What makes you doubt his chin?

But yeah, he is pretty slick, I think he probably would outslick Valero. And even though he is not a puncher in the slightest, he is bigger and stronger than Valero, Valero wouldn't be able to outmuscle him, and I can't see him outboxing Bradley either.

I think it would be a pretty good fight though. Timmy reminds me of Stevie Johnston.

You need to see Bradley-Holt. Besides being dropped (2 times), Holt seemed tp stun Bradley a lot when he landed

Holt landed a perfect lefthook in the first round. That Bradley got up and won the fight is a credit to him, and not exactly the sign of a poor chin.

Yeah, I'd favor Bradley over Valero. Bradley is the best from 135-140.

Bradley's chin is very solid. Bringing up Holt to say otherwise is dumb. He got hit with a bonafide KO shot, got up and won the rest of the bloody fight after that. He's tough as nails.

I agree. He went down HARD and I was surprised he looked fairly clear headed when he got up. He wasn't doing the baby deer dance or anything.

first off, i think valero would've fucked freitas up within 6 rounds if not earlier.

not only does valero hit hard, but he barely loses rounds. even in fights that has lasted more than 5 rounds (i think there's only like 3 or 4 of them), he dominated and won most if not every single round.

the thing that has impressed me the most is his stamina. his punch rate doesnt seem to drop and that was clearly evident when he beat mosquera for the title and it was evident again against demarco.

I think it would have been a good mythical matchup, especially pre-Corrales version of Popo.

Freitas was faster, Valero may have gotten him down the stretch if he didn't get got first.

Speaking of Corrales, that would have been a horrible matchup for Valero.

Overall the thing that impressed me the most is that Valero is clearly a warrior.

That's not to be underestimated. He proved to some degree he is not a front runner. That was a fucking huge gash on his forehead, the fight could have been stopped on that cut right there, and it didn't seem to bother Valero one bit, he just went back out there as normal, and got back to whupping arse.

That alone would lead me to pick Valero against people I think are on a similar level.

As for DeMarco - although it looked like a pathetic performance, I don't think it was quite as bad as the Dirrell/Johnson type of performances recently.

He didn't look like his gameplan was just to survive like a journeyman, I think he was just biding his time, trying to weather the early storm and then take over. But of course, the storm didn't end. Valero just kept coming, increasing in momentum.

I think DeMarco is decent. Given the right opponent he could snag another belt.

Valero is a fucking warrior. His faces was a mess in this fight, he fought like nothing happened. very composed for how badly he was cut up. Very solid performance by Valero.

Valero woulda stopped any version of Frietas, just based on heart alone. Valero has it, Poopoo never did. Frietas would've folded up late.

Corrales woulda likely KO'd Valero, but would have to get off the canvas likely to do so.

Valero is the real deal. He's a helluva fighter, and its gonna take another helluva fighter to beat him. From 135-140 the only guy I pick over him with CONFIDENCE is Bradley. Marquez might be too long in the tooth to handle Valero at this point.

The only guy that would really be a horrible matchup for Valero obviously would be Pac. If Arum ever plans on making that matchup... he better bring a stretcher on stand-by for Valero.
