http://mmajunkie.com/news/17916/sho...f-ufc-112-title-fight-with-anderson-silva.mma So who does Anderson Silva face at 112? I'm guessing Randy Couture. TFK
Randy may be murdered in the cage. Why not use this to get rid of Chael Sonnen? He just beat Marquardt for the title shot. Give it to him.
I dunno, maybe but personally i think they'll milk Randy for as long as they can. They'll put him in winnable fights against frindge 205 contenders and then put him in something bigger later in the year. I could well be wrong. Dunno who else they bring in though....is April 10 too soon for Sonnen? His hype levels are as high as they are ever gonna be.
I agree. Belfort has been overrated by meaningless wins over his last 3 opponents. Belfort would get beat by AS then everyone would just scream how he was a can in the first place.
I'd support Sonnen filling in here. This would be his best shot at a victory. I think the UFC should stop doing two shows a month, it really waters down the PPV cards and good replacement fights are not possible.
FUCKING BULLSHIT. and shut up steve_dave, this was a good fight. And I agree they should give Sonnen his shot or another fight at 205 for Silva. But this time a serious fight.
I'd hope so but Silva doesn't want to campaign at 205. He prefers the barren 185 division so he can be bigger than everyone else. I really think he's a bitch.
Sonnen is under no contact suspension until March 9, so I doubt that will give him enough time to train properly for what would easily be the biggest fight in his career. Couture may be obviously past it, but he is still a big name with a huge following. Remember, it wasn't too long ago that everyone wanted to see Fedor vs Randy. This card is the UFC's first card in Abu Dhabi, in front of the people who just invested into the company. They're gonna want to have a marquee matchup to go along with BJ\Edgar. That matchup is Silva\Couture. It's a win\win scenario for the UFC. If Silva wins, it helps the UFC's claim that Silva is the top fighter P4P, especially in the eyes of the casual fan who still think Couture is top fighter. And even with a loss to Silva, Couture will still be marketable to a limited extent, especially for a rematch against Tito if he gets by Liddell. If Couture wins, that puts him in line for a big money matchup against the winner of Machida\Shogun, and they'll be pushing the whole 'Captain America pulling off another miracle' angle in a huge way. And the loss wouldn't entirely kill Silva as he's fighting above his normal weight, the same way BJ's loss to GSP didn't kill him as a top P4P fighter. The ironic part is, there was a lot of talk here recently about the way to beat Silva being to get him on the ground and outwrestle him, and that is clearly Couture's strong point. Silva is obviously a much better fighter than Couture right now, but style's make fights, and this could be a real tough fight for Silva, just because of Couture's style of fighting. TFK
where is akiyama? he's been idle since he was pulled off the 110 card. if he's not available, then i'd like to see silva go right ahead and fight sonnen assuming that his cuts will be healed by then.
Yeah, it was his idea after he was told to step up the competition after the crappy Cote and Leites fights. There is no reason or viable contender to stay at 185. The money and competition is at 205. The fact that he's fought there twice already showed that he can compete, so why continue at 185?
I know but I like Vitor and hoped he would put it all together against Silva... Wishfull thinking I know but we all have a soft spot for some underachievers...
We've been through this before, and I posted the links to prove going to 205 was Silva's idea, and he convinced the UFC to let him fight at 205, not the other way around. Bottom line is, if Silva didn't want to fight at 205, he wouldn't be fighting at 205. TFK
He's not staying at 185. He's fighting at both 185 and 205. He could potentially hold both belts. How is that being a bitch? Oh, that's right. It's not. TFK
as a side note i saw sonnen on fox and friends the other morning, dudes running for congress or some shit in oregon
That's the whole reason for the recent hate on Sonnen. As soon as he revealed he was a republican, the hate started.
Exactly. They tell him who he fights. Same with everyone in the UFC. The fighters have very little say in who they fight.
I'm a fan of the sport so I'd be watching regardless. I find it funny that you don't think that Silva could step up competition yet have criticized RJJ and now PBF.
Wow. I guess Dana White is a liar when he said that Coleman asked to fight Couture and he called Couture immediately and made the fight. These guys can call each other out and make fights but it's clear who has a desire to and who doesn't.
