This fight is less then a month away.... predictions? Dirrell actually has an excellent chance of pulling the upset. The manner in which AA fights will allow Dirrell to pile up points. The question is, when AA opens up how will Dirrell react, and will he fade? Lately Ive been admitedly going w/the favorites in fights.... but I'm picking the upset here. Dirrell will outbox AA to a decision win.
Abraham will not wrestle Dirrell like Froch did, he's not a dirty boxer. He doesn't have the length and size that Froch had to make Dirrell uncomfortable. He can only hope for a good punch to drop him, but I think he gets outboxed.
I'm going for Dirrell in this one as well, people go on about his performance against Froch but his style will give Abraham nightmares. Dirrell on points.
I agree with all the above on this fight. The styles are in Dirrells favor unless we find out his chin is non existant he should win comfortably on points.
I like Abraham in this one, although not with major confidence. Like mentioned above, Dirrell has the skills to win a decision here... but I think AA will stop him in rounds 10-12, when behind on points. AA's unorthodox style will allow him to land on Dirrell with enough regularity to discourage him. I question whether Dirrell has the heart to withstand the consistent pressure and power punching of AA. AA has shown in the past he can withstand adversity and come from behind, and he should be more comfortable at the new weight class then last time out. IMO Dirrell should have won clearly against Froch but he blew it and folded under the pressure. I still thought he won but it shouldn't have been as close as it was. Same again for me this time out. Abraham TKO 11
I don't like either of them, but I am picking Arabham. As much as I dislike Arabham's style and think he is becoming overrated, he is tough, as he proved in the Miranda fight, he is obviously not a bitch. Dirrell is a grade A bitch as he proved in the Frock fight, which leads me to only 1 logical conclusion - Arabham wins.
Whilst he did fight incredibly negative against Froch, Frochs workrate and aggression were the only things which won him the fight (I had him losing), Abraham doesnt fight like that, Dirrell will keep on the outside and just outspeed him, Abrahams workrate will be an issue here, I just can't envision a way he wins this fight imo, barring a one punch KO.
Abraham will win this one. I'm not sure he'll stop Dirrell since he's a runner, but I'm confident that he'll win the fight on the cards. Abraham isn't a lumbering tough guy like Froch, he's more polished and more intelligent in the ring.
I could see that happening, to be fair. Arabham's workrate is rather pathetic to say the least. I just can't pick a proven bitch in a big fight. I honestly don't have a clear idea of who wins this fight, but one is proven to have balls and one fought like a complete and utter bitch in his first challenge for a world title. If I had to bet money on it, I would pick the one that has some balls and proven toughness without a doubt, so that's why I am picking Arabham.
In terms of maturity, physicality and attitude, Abraham is out in front. In terms of skill and fluidity, Dirrell shades that. Dirrell did impress me vs Froch, in the same kind of way that Albert Einstein would impress me versus the neighbourhood doofus. I am convinced that Abraham has the punch to stop this guy. I mean, stop him, cold. If Dirrell attacks, he could surprise Abraham, but also leave himself open to the big counter that Abraham loves. Abraham does not fight every minute of every round, and that could be fatal. Germany has shown a worrying tendency towards kissing out-of-town ass recently and if Abraham is allowing Dirrell to steal things, like he did vs Froch, then that could be serious for Abraham. But, as stated, he has that equaliser. And if Froch can throw you to the ground, Abraham will positively bury you. As I said, Dirrell, for me, won the Froch fight, and while Froch is a complete retard in terms of skill and fluidity, it was still a big ask for Dirrell to go to Nottingham and basically do a lot more than just survive in his first major fight.
There is a psychological issue at work here. Everyone who fights Abraham gets caught, eventually. Its like he ALWAYS explodes, in EVERY fight, EVENTUALLY. You just don't know when. You know he will.....but never when, exactly. Dirrell could find himself waiting to get hit just for the sake of getting it over with, so to speak.
If Abraham slams him to the canvas like Froch did, it will end there and then. He wont get up from it. And Artur loves to drop in the odd elbow behind his right hand. I think Arthur can ruff this guy up just enough to have him settle for yet another moral-victory loss.
I figure the 'safe pick' would actually be Dirrell,.. if Arabham doesn't land, it'll be a fringe potting session where there will be no choice but to score it for Dirrell, this is a fight where I reckon whoever loses, it'll serve them right, one way or the other, Dirrell is a sprinter and Arabham is a fucking hermit.
I actually think Abraham is good enough to find the openings early and tag Dirrell coming in when he'll try his hit and run tactics. From that point, and that will be very early in the fight, Dirrell will be too worried by Abraham's power to try to lead. Abraham will lead, land enough to win rounds and he might stop him from accumulation later in the fight. I'm sure Abraham will be ahead on the cards.
My first thought is that I'm not sure I care to watch Dirrell fight again after his shameful effort against Froch. That fight positively made my eyes bleed. If Dirrell ran for his lfe against Froch, he's sure to absolutely head for the hills against Arbraham, who IMHO hits plenty harder than Froch is supposed to. That said, as much as I hope Abraham splats the little sprinter bitch into the canvas, I suspect he might just stink his way to another wafer thin decision, albeit this time in his favour. MTF
Abraham is tougher to outpoint than Froch. Look at the Taylor fights...Taylor had the lead against Froch and was well behind against Abraham. If Dirrell tries to run, he won't have the same success that he did against Stevens...either on his face or on the cards. Very tough fight for Dirrell to win. He can, but I like Abraham to out man him and get the aggressor's advantage on the scorecards.
If it goes to the cards the outcome will be determined by location. If it's in Europe Abraham gets the nod. The states, it'll be Dirrell. If one gets robbed due to location it'll be by split decision as always.
As we headed to dinner inside the casino's famous Steakhouse, World Boxing Organization Cruiserweight Champion Marco Huck, an Abraham teammate, was just killing time and casually dropped a dollar into the alluring Marilyn Monroe slot machine. A few seconds later he had stuffed $800 in his pocket and was continuously saying "I love America!" ::
One thing is for sure, Dirrell will jump out to a big early lead. Abraham is a slow starter, he's almost always losing early rounds. If Dirrell doesn't fade late from all the running he will surely be doing, he's going to win by a wide margin on the cards. Froch put the pressure on, Abraham doesn't fight like that at all. For all his KO's you'd think he was more aggressive. He just clams up and waits for guys to get tired it seems. Dirrell has the legs and speed to stay out of danger. Dirrell UD.
Is Andre Dirrell the dude who bolted his way to a decision loss against Froch? Why on earth does anybody think he can beat a world class fighter this way?
Dirrell certainly has some advantages, and the physical tools to win the fight... but IMO it wil require a sustained level of focus and determination that we have not seen from him. From what I have read, people seem to think that AA will follow Dirrell around the ring and let himself be potshotted all night. I happen to think that if Dirrell piles up some early rounds, Abraham will put enough pressure on to make Andre fold. That isn't very hard to do. If Dirrell wins this fight it will be because of flashy combinations early, and a LOT of holding, running, and wrestling late. I think Abraham is just the better fighter all around, and the advantages that he holds in this fight are much larger than the ones Dirrell enjoys. Dirrell sees the final bell, but only because it turns into a wrestling match. I think he loses in much the same manner that he LOST the Froch fight.
I stick to Dirrel taking a nap...Abraham is shorter and has a shorter reach than Froch, but he sets up his punches well. Throws straight punches at that. Abraham has shown toughness and a good chin...while Dirrel can punch he's not a devastating puncher. I think Dirrel gets sloppy then runs into a shot...then lights out.
