Wanderlei desrved the TKO finish. He got robbed of that. Impressed by Velasquez but Nog is done. Nog did look a little better than he has recently but he is still done. I hope Bader keeps stepping up the competition! Good win for him
nog let cain get in the inside and thats where cain does his best work. i have never been overly impressed with nog's boxing, he is too straight up and has his hands down
Just like you knew Stevenson and Bisping would win right? And you knew Zaromskis would beat Diaz and you knew Manhoef would send Robbie out on a stretcher and you knew.....:kick: decent night of fights, not great but decent. Stevenson's fall has been a quick one, didn't see that happening like it did. Cain is legit. I want to see him matched up with Dos Santos soon if the winner of Mir/Carwin gets Brock. Bisping is so horribly average its almost unwatchable. This guy should be on the undercard. We all know how washed up Wandy is now. At least we will never have to stomach watching Bisping in a title shot. I really wish CroCop would just retire, but I bet we will get CroCop/Nog soon.
 Oh you are correct master Nostradamus. I assume all your picks were correct? Anyway, 3 of 5 and +$10 for the event isn't bad. George is definitely better than I thought and Bisping is just a choker. No way he shouldve lost to a shot AND weight drained Silva.
Holy fuck TFK, you've got to be kidding? For starters, Velasquez is obviously for real. He's very good. But Nog is washed up and it's not even arguable. He looks old, slow, and feeble. Watch a nog fight of say, 5 years ago, and tell me he is not washed up :: I'm not even a nog fan (I find BJJ boring) - but he is not even close to being the fighter he was a few years ago.
Like I said, when Nog starts losing to the division's bottom feeders, then he'll be washed up. But I see him beating all UFC heavy's except Lesnar, Cain, JDS and Carwin. I'd pick him to beat Mir in a rematch that I think we'll see once he loses to Carwin. And he'd definitely beat guys like Kongo, Gonzaga, Nelson, Kimbo, Schaub, etc. Nog may not be elite anymore, but I'd say he's second tier, and that's not washed up. TFK
The thing is, it's nothing to do with him losing to Cain that people think he's washed up. Even in the fights he's won in the last few years, he looks washed up. He just looks old and slow and weak, he is not the same fighter he was 5+ years ago. He's a very good fighter, so just because he'd still beat the majority of guys in a sub par division, doesn't mean he isn't washed up. Wanderlei is washed up, and he just beat Bisping, because Bisping is average. Obviously a shot Wanderlei is still a better fighter. Similar situation with Nog. I would pick Mir in a rematch by the way. That was a decisive win, what makes you think he wouldn't be able to repeat it?
The thing about Nog is that he used to get away with being average on his feet because his chin was so strong. Unfortunately I think Cain is a very solid, technically sound striker with power in both hands. Anyone's chin will let them down if they get hit clean by this guy. The thing that alarmed me about Big Nog was how soft he looked both at the weigh-in and in the cage last night. Maybe it is age or something, but he definitely isn't the same fighter from a physical perspective that he was 3-5 years ago. I also think the handling of Couture made people believe that perhaps the KO loss to Mir was staph infection related. In retrospect, it probably wasn't. Mir used straight punches and good defense to beat Nog to the punch much like Cain did last night. I don't disagree with TFK in the sense that Nog could probably beat some of the medium tier HW's out there. That's not because Nog isn't shot, it's because there is a huge gap between guys like Lesnar, Mir and Cain and guys like Kongo, Nelson and Gonzaga. However, I don't think I could easily name 10 HW's that I would pick to beat Nog right now. Definitely 4 maybe 6.
Average and remarkably stupid. Why did he not continue to slam Wandy to the deck? He was taking him down hard without issue yet he wanted to keep the fight standing. Just plain dumb in my opinion. And Silva is a highlight reel knock out victim waiting to happen. Anderson, Belfort and Marquardt easily starch him within 3 minutes if he steps in the octagon with any of them. The days of being able to windmill punches in MMA are gone forever among the top guys.
All kinds of possible reasons, but I go to a bar/restaurant to watch UFC's and this one was the least popular one I've seen and it even had one group leave a table open before the main event and a lot of people left right after the main event.
I watch most of the fights at a favorite bar of mine and it definitely was not as packed as usual. It was still pretty full, but man I have been there where there wasn't even room to stand. on the other part though, generally speaking, where I watch I would say at least 25% of the people there leave after the main event. I don't see how that had any thing to do with this particular ppv card.
mike who cares if people like it or not ive watched ufc at a bar once and i fucking hated it. people are yelling shit, its obvious a lot of people have no idea about ufc or mma in general.
I remember when I went to a bar for the Silva/Marquardt PPV, about half the people left after Ortiz/Rashad. :bangh:
He is completely washed up. Nog just can't take it anymore. This is a guy who had one of the best chins in MMA. He's got blown out now by Mir and Carwin. His chin is gone. His skills may still exist, but his body has betrayed him.
the first thing to go are reflexes, after that usually the chin follows. I think we have seen both leave Nog. Great career none the less.
nog looked like he was fighting in slo-mo. not sure how his win over couture perceived as some sort of a career resurrection. i thought it was a fight between two shot fighters and noguiera did worse than i expected. let's face it, he didn't look the same as soon as he stepped in the octagon. wasn't he hurt against herring, the same guy he twice choked out in pride several years ago? velasquez does appear to have the goods and i'd like to see him fight dos santos should he get by gonzaga.
Nog almost got stopped by herring in his ufc debut. in most of his ufc fights he looks shaky, but still an impressive win for cain.
I brought it up because it may indicate that the UFC juggernaut is coming to an end, or at least slowing down. Fans are fickle.
Nog was trashed throughouly and koed in 2 of his last 3 fight, something he was never close to being in his pre UFC career where he fought pretty much anyone worth a damn at hw. His only win in the time span was to an equally shot Couture, who's chin is as shot as Nog one is. Worst of all, the stoppages came from 2 guy's not known for their powerfull stand up. Cain, whenever he fought an opponnent worth a damn and even some cans, basically threw the kitchen sink at them and did not really hurt them. Yet vs Nog, a man once reknowed for his chin, it took basically one upercut. He's the definition of a shot fighter
Cain is a very good fighter, but his lack of power and size will hold him back, kind of like it will hinder Povertkin career.
Awesome win by Cain, out with the old in with the new.Big NOg is shot,an argument can be made that he didn't look the same as soon as he stepped foot in the UFC.
