http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jpOgiC7LfU I have never been big on Vivian Harris, but this is the worst stoppage of 2010.
I just saw fightnews and Harris already has some verbage on there. Looks like he's pushing to get the fight turned to a NC
Yeah. After he basically was OK with what happened. Now he get's an NC and a payday. Vivian is also a girls name.
Harris does not have enough credit to get moved into GD, he must remain here in TAAA as a figure for derision until he purges himself of our contempt.
That could well be THE most absurd stoppage I've ever seen. Harris was hurt by a punch, goes to hold on, is clearly not out cold or unable to defend himself, or even close to being out, and the ref just stops it, after being hurt for half a second? :::: The ref needs to be banned, seriously, that was insane.
I will always be a fan of Harris for winning me a small fortune in the Hurtado fight... Harris was a betting underdog hehe
REED - I just skipped to the stoppage, so I didn't see if Harris was taking a beating etc. If he was taking a bad beating already, then I guess the stoppage wouldn't have been that absurd, but looking at the stoppage on it's own, without the context of the rest of the fight, it did look ridiculous.
The thing of it is....his opponent had a busted-shut eye. And, in the land of Vivian Harris, the one-eyed fighter is KING.
Hell if i know - i'd be more inclined to say its spanish for "highly overrated after a lucky win over Randall Bailey"
Harris was IN the fight. It was a big right hand but in a no way the ref should have stopped it BEFORE checking the consequences of the punch. Even Matthysse said it was a shame the fight was stopped prematurely.
Lucas was on his way to killing Vivian, so its a damn shame i ended the way it did. Now the people will remember the controversy instead of Vivian being stretchered out of there.
That's PRECISELY How REED Saw it...Yeah, the Actual Stoppage was Premature, but Matttttthhhhyyyysse Seemed to B HANDILY Winning EVERY Second of the Rounds Shown on that Link.... REED:mj:
When did he ever get going? He had a decent brace over Oktay Urkal, who basically lost every big fight he ever had. He had a decent win over Bailey and Gary St Clair....and then he lost to Maussa....I mean.....was he ever a player? I always figured him for a bit part man in a talented division.
Harris was CONSIDERED a "Player" Heading into the Floyd-Gatti Bout...In Fact, that's when Harris Got into an Exchange w/Floyd, Completely IGNORING Carlos Maussa, who Subsequently KO'ed his Ass on the Undercard.... REED:hammert:
That's about as close as he got. Smack-Talking a name opponent. In his defense, 140 was full of names. But he really needed to be fitter the night he lost to Maussa.
So..... Never fight in Germany Never fight in Mexico City Never fight in England... ...anywhere else??
He never fought Bailey. Though both in thier primes.... Harris-Bailey woulda been one helluva shoot out!
Harris Punched Himself Out, Trying to KO Maussa Early, to Make the Type of Impression that Could've Led to a Bout w/Floyd...Instead, he Punched Himself Out of the ELITE Title Picture ALTOGETHER... REED:mj:
I cant believe some fools then were thinking he could take Floyd. I was thinking even then that Floyd would give him the Philip Ndou treatment.
PERSPECTIVE, Brother X, Perspective... @ the Time, Floyd HADN'T Campaigned @ 147 @ All & Viv was on a Pretty GOOD Run...REED Obviously Would've FAVORED Floyd Too, but if Harris had Gotten By Maussa, he'd have Been THE Next LOGICAL Opponent for Floyd... REED:mj:
True, and it would have been a damn entertaining fight watching Floyd give Viv the N'dou & Gatti treatment. Harris was never an elite guy and I don't know what shows that more, his KO loss to Maussa or Witter.
Matthysse was on the verge of being stopped due to his grotesquely swollen eye which was getting worse as the rounds progressed, he went for broke in the rounds shown and Harris was weathering the storm. Early stoppage for sure. In the post fight interview Lucas admitted it was an early stoppage as well, that is fact. This was the refs fault though and I hope I dont see this ref again on TV.
