    Stylistically, Floyd-Margarito Would've RESEMBLED Floyd-Baldomir...Boring UD...

Nah, it's TRUE...Baldomir was AMONG the Guys Floyd was Supposedly "Ducking"...That's how the Whole Floyd-Brian Kinney BANTER Got Kick Started...

I remember that. I got caught into that. But I remember specifically that the #1 person on this board who we all felt Floyd was avoiding was Margarito. And to deny this is just...insane.

We've Been Over this MANY Times, Brother DAZED...

Baldomir had the LINEAL Title & IMPRESSIVE Wins Over Zab & Gatti, Heading Into the Floyd Fight...Floyd Faced him, Earning MORE than he'd have Made for Margarito, THEN he Faced Dela in the Most LUCRATIVE PPV Fight EVER...THEN he Faced Hatton...

It's NITPICKING to Say Floyd "Ducked" Margarito, when he had NO FEWER than 3 CONSECUTIVE Fights that were of EQUAL or MORE Importance...

You're arguing something different than me. What I was saying was that on this board, if there was one person that a majority felt Floyd was ducking, it was Margarito not Baldomir.

As for what you're arguing about...please. Baldomir was a flash in the pan. If Mayweather thought he was any good he would've fought him after he beat Zab. But instead Floyd was like, "He got lucky; that wasn't Zab that night; who is Baldomir; he's a C-class fighter; he got nine losses, etc." All of a sudden he beats a welterweight, washed up Gatti and he's legit? Let's not go there. Margarito had been ranked among the top 2-3 at welter for almost a decade. And is far better than this jokester we're referring to.

That was during the period where he beat Clottey and Cintron at 147 and lost to Santos at 154, you make it sound like a major blow that he lost a competitive decision to Williams..how bad does that really look now?

Most posters who've been around the last few years aren't going to buy into this Bladomir-was-the-real-challenge revisionism...Baldomir was regarded as an ok opponent, mostly by virtue of his lucking out against a perennial up-and-down Judah. Margarito was however regarded as the biggest, most physical and accomplished of the potential challenges at 147...anyone who disagrees musta forgot

Floyd ALWAYS Disparages his Opponents, Pre-Fight...Baldomir was NO Exception...Floyd Dissed Genaro Hernandez PRIOR to their Bout, Angel Manfredy, Chico Corrales & Everybody Else on Down the Line...Holding Floyd's Pre-Fight Remarks AGAINST him is POINTLESS...

AFTER Trashing Genaro AND Gatti, Floyd Cried like a Fucking Newborn Baby...Simply Put, He's a Walking, Talking, Living, Breathing CONTRADICTION...

Like it or Not, a SEGMENT of the Boxing Media LOUDLY Criticized Floyd for NOT Facing Baldomir...Yet AFTER the Fight, All Anybody Wanted to Talk about was how BORING the Fight was...How FAIR is THAT???...

Margarito was an Up & Down Welter for the Last Decade....Let's NOT Pretend that he HELD for the # 2-3 Spot for 10 Years, Because he DIDN'T...Not to Mention the Questions Surrounding the LEGITIMACY of his Tenure....

The Problem is, U're Making it Seem as if Margarito DIDN'T Lose to Santos & Williams...Losses Knock U DOWN in the Pecking Order...So Margarito had to Go BACK to the Drawing Board TWICE, During this Period of Time when Floyd So-Called "Ducked" him...

YES, Margarito was IN the Picture, but to Act as if he was the CLEAR Top Dog for 10 Years Running, is BULLSHIT....He WASN'T...

Nah, man. This wasn't prior to the Baldomir fight. This was before Floyd fought Zab . That's how he explained fighting Zab instead of Baldomir. In fact, if I can point to the time when I stopped being a Floyd fan, it was right then. Because after he beat Zab, the most obvious opponent was Margarito. I mean OBVIOUS. And he straight up acted like the guy didn't exist. The fact that he fought Baldomir was mind-blowing, especially since he didn't feel Baldomir deserved it the first time.
    See above.

ESPN isn't exactly my source for cutting boxing banter. On message boards everywhere, the name Margarito was being shouted high and low.

Up and down welter? Really? Tell me...prior to the loss to Williams, who was the last welter to beat him?

    U're NITPICKING Now...

So Because Floyd SAID he'd "Easily Beat Genaro Hernandez" AND Backed it Up, Should THAT Win B Diminished???...Since Floyd Sr. Called Manfredy a "Bum" & Floyd Jr. Made him LOOK as Such, Should THAT Win B Diminished as Well???...By YOUR Rationale, Floyd would Deserve NO Credit for Beating Pacquiao Either, Since he's Bashed him PRIOR to the Fight...

Margarito was a CHEAT...Every Bit as SHADY as Panama Lewis & Luis Resto...So Please REMOVE Margarito from that Pedastal U Insist on Placing him On...Daniel Santos Beat Margarito @ SUPER WELTER, F.Y.I.

We didn't know Margarito was cheating then so justifying Floyd's actions with that is rediculous.

Second, and I repeat, Floyd was bashing Baldomir as to why he WOULDN'T fight him, not as to why he would.

And finally, at the time Floyd fought Baldomir, Antonio Margarito hadn't lost a fight at 147 in a decade. Ten years. When he was 18. Up and down? I think not.

REED Isn't Justifying Floyd's Actions...REED is REMINDING YOU of Margarito's....BECAUSE of HIS OWN Actions, Margarito's Accomplishments, Wins & Rankings MUST B Held in MUCH LOWER Regard than U Seem Willing to Acknowledge...

    Sorry...

Did Lennox Lewis duck Chris Byrd when he refused to fight him and even gave up a version of his UNdisputed title in order to fight more meaningful opponents?

Well that's fine, Reed, but totally irrelevant to this conversation. The bottom line is that in 2006, we knew none of this.

By the time that Mayweather was done with the easy fights at 147-154 Margarito was somebody....as so was Cotto, Williams, Clottey, etc..etc.. Mayweather just avoided them all...

I can tell you how this argument is going to go. Same old story every fucking time. Real fans of the sport of boxing would have loved to see Floyd fight Margarito. Meanwhile Floyd fans will cling to the linear title as if now all of the sudden belts mean everything. Bottom line is nobody gave a shit about Floyd fighting Baldomir.

Yet there was no complaining when Manny fought Morales instead of Zahir Raheem.

Easy fights that done millions of buys in PPV's. Obviously Mayweather fought the fights people wanted to see.

the fight to make wouldve been vs Spinks instead of Baldomir or Margarito. He was the most accomplished of the three, a legitimate champion at 154lbs and wouldve made for the best action fight vs Mayweather jr. The problem was fat cunts like Dan Rafael who complained about spinks as an opponent and were shilling for baldomir instead.

The only time Spinks is in an action fight is when his wifey is trying to stab him.

It's true he may not be that interesting on a personal level, but when the guy is your favorite fighter, you pretty much enjoy any venue he's in. Whether he's sparring, being interviewed or whatever I'd still like to tune in to catch it. Plus I'd also love to hear the banter him and the Mayweather's are going to get into and see his reaction to it.

No, the BOTTOM Line is that REED (Among Others) was "NEVER Impressed w/Margarito", Even Back in 2006...& REED was JUSTIFIED in Feeling that Way, Based on what we've Learned about Margarito...

BECAUSE of HIS OWN Actions, EVERY FACET of Margarito's Career MUST B Assessed DIFFERENTLY...INCLUDING 2006, Homey...
