The Castillo of the first mayweather fight vs the Marquez who stopped Diaz and Casamayor.

    Who wins?

What a battle! I would also take Castillo on a close points decision --- though you know who I'd be rooting for!

I too lean towards Castillo..too much activity. Still JMM's counterpunching will be in full effect in this one given the consistency and predictability of JLC's attack...

    Will be a great battle.

Marquez is going to run into trouble inside --- after all the counter-punching is finished in each exchange, & the two have to gut it out in the trenches, Marquez's pin-point counter-shots & sharp, stinging combinations will not stop Castillo, who'll be waiting for him on the inside with a smile. It's gonna get awful rough for Marquez in there --- but he's a tough hombre, no one can take that away from him. He's also a faster-fisted, more accurate puncher than Castillo, & should land more throughout.

It's a close fight. On his best night, I could see Marquez winning this, but I would still lean toward Castillo. Equally-intriguing would be Pacquiao & Castillo at 135. That's another tough pick.

castillo wins via late surge similar to that of the casamayor fight but it might not be as competitive based on the size disparity.

    Castillo punishes him.

Castillo's attack was predictable? In what sense?

    In the predictable sense.

I think prime Castillo would stop the 135 version of Marquez. PFP it would be something else but at 135 Castillo was huge and Marquez was undersized and the disparity in skillset isn't wide enough to overcome that. Castillo TKO 11.

    Yeah but....

With the same logic you would have expected him to stop Casamayor as well. Joel was a small lightweight too.

Difficult for me to see Marquez stopped by Castillo since he twice survived the fury of Pacquiao...

I think Casamayor had a better chin than Marquez and Castillo would have given a more physically taxing fight to Marquez than Pacquiao. Pac fights more in spurts while Castillo would have been all over Marquez during every second of the fight. I don't think Marquez would have seen the final bell.
