I agree that it meets the definition as laid out in my opening post...but personally i wouldn't have included it.

The KO seemed, to me, more about jones quitting like a bitch after he hit the canvas...than a tremendous punch from Glen Johnson.

 

I thought Jones' head bouncing off thecanvas had a greater effect than Johnson's shot, which didn't look too devastating in itself

 

Accoding to Sly, Jones slammed his head to the floor deliberately to get out of the fight.

Roy was on the ground for 5 minutes. It was at least 2 before he could open his eyes. That sounds like out out out to me.

Agreed. I guess I wasn't impressed by the punch. The Canvas hit Jones harder than that punch did.

 

His eyes were closed before he hit the floor. Homey was snoring. The canvas helped keep him in la la land.

 

It's the second concussion that many referees worry most about---that being the concussion from the fighter's head hitting the canvas. Roy hit the canvas hard after being outhustled and swarmed.

 

Hatton-Manny is the most memorable KTFO in a high profile fight in recent memory. Poor Ricky was literally knocked out zed's in centre ring.

Also agreed on Graham-Jackson. Herol was spark out long before he hit the canvas.

That Serwano Ko reminds me of Tim Witherspoon against Anders Ecklund (sp), Ecklund looked like he was having a stroke - one side of his face was fixed in a paralytic grimace

Boxing is a brutal sport. The fighters know the risks. Start protecting them too much and you change the sport.

This is close to topping the list of the ridiculous things you've said. Roy was OUT. Eyes glassy, limbs stiff.

If anything, that's on the severe side of knocked out. He and Hatton were in a similar state.

 

Correction: Roy's head hit the canvas harder than Johnson hit him...regardless...Roy was out when Johnson landed the shot.

 

Another one: Freddie Pendleton on Roger Mayweather. Roger was held up by the ropes and took a followup beating prescient of Mercer-Morrison. The first shot put him out badly. The final image of Roger "facedown, ass-up" reminds me of that song by The 2 Live Crew.
