Part of me wants to see the upset....I'm still not happy with Pacman and Roach ducking out of the Mayweather fight on the drug excuse. It's a tough test for Pac..it's the first big bad black man he has to fight. I expect Pac to win a unanimous decision. To quote Jim Lampley "Too much speed. Probably too much power too"
Hold up.... When I said as much a couple weeks back the first words out of your mouth were "you're not a boxing fan if you don't want to see the biggest non-heavyweight fight of all time." Pick a side Sly. "However" It's obvious now...I mostly pointed toward Mosley beating Mayweather. Tall tales by a Mayweather fan exposed. :: Put it this way...as a Floyd fan...if Manny loses you should root for Mosley to beat Mayweather...he'd make more money on the rematch than in a fight with Clottey... Say May wins the rematch, makes the third bout even bigger.
Musze..old buddy. i said "part of me wants the upset"...which by implication means..that I actually want Pacquiao to win. This is how we use that phrase in the English language. It implies that overall you want the other outcome. Why are you such a troublesome old man... ::
I don't see Pac stopping Clottey..I'll say that again. Cotto showed frightening vulnerability as early as the Corley fight. If Corley even tried to finish him..Cotto would have been defeated there and then. As such I wasn't too surprised when Margarito stopped Cotto (I picked Margarito) and wasn't at all surprised that Pac stopped him (I thought Pac would have had him by 7 rounds). My point is... The fact that pac stopped Cotto..is irrelevant to thsi fight. Also hatton was already softened up by mayweather...and so don't pay too much attention to that either. Pac aint stopping Clottey. He's going to have to go 12 rounds with this huge solid African. Of course the judges will give it to him..even if it appears that he lost a close one...but he's going to have to tough it out thsi time. It wont be easy. After this fight...the usual fickle bandwagon jumpers will all start saying that mayweather will win easily...if he fought Pac.
Pacquiao will NOT KO' Clottey....he will win a decision. But if he does Ko or make Clottey quit then that will be further proof of his greatness.
:atu: Don't ride the fence in Donnybrook fashion. Pick as side and stick with it. I see what you're doing...spout a series of outcomes to run back in and say, "I told ya so." "Part of me" is fooled, brother Sly. :kidcool:
I've picked Pacman. Not riding the fence at all. pacman by unanimous decision. Deserved unanimous decision. i want pac to win...part of me wants the upset, :kidcool:
It's a FACT, FIN....that English isn't your first language. Hence your difficulty..in comprehending certain things I'm saying and also apparent when observing your well documented bad grammar, for example: "...not seeing where Sly is getting at...." :stir:
Will you quit with that shit. You talk like Hatton fought Pacquiao the same day he did PBF. Get real.
PBF taought hatton that he was beatable and more importantly that he was "knockoutable". Prior to that, hatton had tussled with the Tzsyu and Castillo tough men and prevailed without a scratch. When pacquiao touched his chin, Ricky remembered his vulnerability. Eitehr way..Clottey will prove MUCH harder to stop than Cotto or Hatton is my belief.
That's dumb. It's not like the going got rough and Hatton just folded. It's not even like he was knocked down and didn't get up. He was KTFO. Deal with it.
:nono:... Why pretend nothing's happening anymore?, considering it only took the chemical mutant a couple of flurries to have Cotto reeling around the ring in shock and disbelief,.. I honestly can't see how Clottey can hide behind his shell, being hit with Pedquiao's sudden new 'power from church'... that's probably the supercharged equivalent of a light-heavyweight atleast. I may have also read,.. unless this is incorrect because it was too revolting to believe but, the texas commission stated that, there will be no drug screening whatsoever for this fight, none whatsoever, not even the obselete boxing piss test, so there you go, he's got an arrangement to be extra souped up.
We all have seen Cotto take some serious shots from Mosley, Judah, Margarito and did not go down by a single shot like he did against Pac. You bring up a good point. Hmmmmmmmm:crafty:
The talk of Pac stopping Hatton because he was softened up by PBF is ridiculous. PAC caught him repeatedly, in rapid succession (so he never had time to fully recover from any one shot), & caught him clean enough to have him in trouble, & before he had fully recovered, the the K.O punch arrived & had everything a one-punch K.O needs-Fast, unseen, right on the sweet spot & with full force. However, I would be surprised if he Stopped Clottey, because his defense is tight, if he gets caught he will fight very conservatively, & I consider him more resillient than Hatton & Cotto (who I always considered fragile). Tough long night for Pac, if he goes for an early K.O. I hope he fights smart..
Your points might be valid, if: a. Cotto hadn't been hurt (and seriously so in some cases) before by guys with average or good power, or b. Manny had gone from a points win specialist to a sudden KO artist, instead of, in fact, being one of the hardest P4P punchers in the sport for the last TEN years or so who has been sparking out good and great fighters for years and years. MTF
During the course of his lighter weight career he had 34 KO's out of 46,.. he hasn't 'brought the power up with him',.. his power has actually increased, against physically larger fighters who are durable for thier own weight, could absorb punches from a smaller, naturally weaker frame much easier, basic physics is on thier side for one,.. but Pacquiao is wiping them out or dropping them with a mere knick in some instances,.. when you are a physically smaller fighter, getting older, you don't get faster as you add weight, nor should you with a smaller frame- absorb shots EASIER,.. they dont seem to be registering at all, tiny fucken Marquez could stun and discourage Pacquiao at times, but a hard hitting squat welterweight like Cotto has no impact, Pacquiao just walked straight through Cotto and stunned him with virtually everything he threw. Something's up,.. the refusal and panick over random and advanced drug testing really sealed the deal, his appearance has noteably changed aswell, his cheeks, jaw and eyebrows are petruding, he's got copious swarthy amounts of extra facial hair, and even his eyebrows have abnormally thickenned, his face and skull have broadened,..you look at his head today, and you imagine that on a featherweight frame, ,.. dat boy's bones have grown, he's been unaturally tweaked,..and he's made it loud and clear, he intends to continue his intake of chemical enhancers until the day he retires.
Sky you must be confused, it was Floyd who ducked out of the fight with the drugs excuse. Floyd was the one who introduced the claused, and refused a compromise, therefore Floyd bitched out.
All these Euro-Sexuals love Hatton and like to claim that Hatton as not trained, or drank too much or some nonsense... Hatton is a very good fighter, it is not fair to think of him as a drunken bum just cuz he is a "Euro"
Clottley is not going via the Hatton route. When stood side by side on the staredown Clottey is TOWERING over Pacquaio. It will take consistent activity, and body work froma man with shorter reach to breakdown the stronger man. It will be interesting because Manny will certainly try. Clottey has to fire back to keep him honest and Pacquaio has become a better counterpuncher in his last few fights. Good undercard too. Castillo-Gomez should be a war while it lasts. Diaz-Soto another good solid fight.
