Pacquiao, Roach: "We'll Fight Mayweather at Any Time!"

By Mark Vester

WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach want a piece of Floyd Mayweather Jr. After Pacquiao dominated Joshua Clottey for twelve rounds on Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, they both called for a fight with Mayweather. Both Pacquiao and Roach expect Mayweather to decision WBA champion Shane Mosley on May 1 in Las Vegas.

"It's up to him. For me, it's no problem to fight him. I will fight him any time. He should win against Mosley. If not, Mosley and I will fight. [Mayweather's] style is not a difficult style. He needs to handle his business in his next fight," Pacquiao said.

Roach wants the fight under the commission rules. They refuse to agree to Mayweather's demand for both fighters to take part in random drug tests.

"It's the fight the world wants to see. Me and Manny want to see it," Roach said. "Floyd, let the commission do their job
. You don't run the sport. Get in the ring and fight us."

[IMG] The Texas commission certainly 'did their job',..

.......is there anybody here, who agrees with the Texas commissions ruling for this fight?...for there to be 'No good cause' to subject these two fighters to drug testing?... none whatsoever?... is there any poster here who wants to champion this brilliant precedent?...

Stronger testing would be great for boxing. It should be instituted across the board by the governing commissions. It should be the rule going forward for all fights. Roach said they will fight by commission rules. Change the rules and they'd have to accede to random testing.

Yeah, they would have to,.. it's likely Pacquiao retires as instantly as he withdrew from the negotiation table if that were to ever happen, and it wont because Arum has snuggled up to the commissions and they even displayed the pathetic front to 'suddenly' request a Urine test on a specific date without any fight due for either of them at the time, at Bob Arum's request,... but what I'm simply asking is,.. does any poster feel that having no drug testing procedure whatsoever, is a great precedent to set for boxing?,..

So,you agree that it should be for the sport of boxing and not just for Mayweather fights?

Yeah, I all for more stringent drug testing if the current testing is inadequate.
The commission should introduce it.
If they do so, then all boxers should abide by it.

Hey KaukipRrr, where are you getting all this "big head" stuff from.
I looked up HGH, & found this:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/growth-hormone/HA00030

What can human growth hormone do for otherwise healthy adults?
Studies of healthy adults taking human growth hormone are limited. Although it appears that human growth hormone injections can increase muscle mass and reduce the amount of body fat in healthy older adults, the increase in muscle doesn't translate into increased strength. In fact, researchers have found that strength training is a cheaper, more effective way to increase muscle mass and strength.
It isn't clear if human growth hormone may provide other benefits to healthy adults.

What are the risks of taking human growth hormone if you don't need it?
Human growth hormone may cause a number of side effects for healthy adults, including:
• Swelling in the arms and legs
• Joint pain
• Muscle pain
• For men, enlargement of breast tissue (gynecomastia)

Nothing about Big Heads & Eyebrows, (Not that I've seen any before & after pics to suggest that there's an unusual difference) and I certainly don't know whether I'd be looking towards it for an unfair advantage anyway.

Also:

As far as I can tell, there are 3 reasons to think that Manny is on drugs:

• His recent performances in the ring (ODLH, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey).
If so, what is it specifically in those performances that lead you to think that he's on drugs?

• His refusal to accept PBF's drug testing demands

• The size of his head/ appearance of his eyebrows

In what order would you list these reasons (from most compelling to least compelling)?

What would be the possible other explanations for those 3 other than drug use?

Are there any other reasons to think he's on drugs?

Yes, and so you agree the best possible place to begin implimenting a stronger new drug testing system is in the fight at the top of the hierachy in boxing?.. Pacquiao vs Mayweather ?.. Now if you were to say it is up to the commissions to decide, and that they govern this sport with integrity and efficiency,... tell me what you think about the Texas commission's decision not to drug test Pacquiao fights whatsoever...

The most common side effect of the excess use of HGH is acromegaly. This is a medical condition that begins with the overgrowth of facial bone and connective tissue, leading to a changed appearance due to protruding jaw and eyebrow bones. This condition also leads to an abnormal growth of the hands and feet with an increased growth of hair all over the body.

I read it here.

Do you know what Mayweather is doing for that to happen? NOTHING. ZILCH.

He is more interested in trying to DISCREDIT Pacquaio through the MEDIA. Minority of people are buying it so he could continue his HUSTLE.

He doesn't want to get his ass tapped for the first time...

No one has said that. At lest I've never read that. All I ever said was that I understand why Pac would balk at such a request. If it became the rules and Pac immediately retired then we'd have our answer as to his guilt.

It should be made mandatory though. I think it'd be great for the sport and if Pac was exposed as a cheat to clean up Boxing then so be it.

I can't see anyone who was a fan of the sport disagreeing.

I think it's a step in the right direction. This whole thing comes down to leverage in negotiations and the balance of power being all in the "big names" of boxing. There were massive penalty fees in the contract if Morales and Cotto were overweight against Pacquiao, well beyond what the NSAC would've fined them for being overweight. If a fighter like Golden Johnson had a fight with Cotto and asked for a massive penalty for being over 145, he'd get laughed in his face. Mayweather asks for stricter drug testing for a Pacquiao fight with rules that both will have to follow. Most fighters would agree to extra testing because they're just glad to get a big fight for a big payday. Mosley agreed, he's just happy to get that big fight and huge payday. Leonard had the power to have a guy go down in weight and for the WBC to put up two divisional titles at once. Where else would Lalonde make that sort of money?

A fighter has the right to ask for anything in the contract and the opponents have the right to say no. But of course you're going to have to face criticism if you reject it and justify it with brilliant reasons such as "I don't like needles touching my tattoo filled body" or "Mayweather is bigger than me so drawing blood from him will affect him less than it would for me" (yes, he actually said that).

Of course Mayweather is full of shit when he acts as if this is some selfless mission to clean up boxing, and yeah, probably he is nervous about losing to Pacquiao. But it isn't as if he's asking for a bad thing for stricter drug testing than the current policy, which as Flip Homansky, who ought to know about NSAC drug testing, says, "with correct knowledge, someone shouldn't get caught". Sure it's out of the ordinary, but is it "ordinary" to make a guy pay a million dollars for being over the catchweight while he defends his title? If it's not about Manny being on something, it's about both sides just wanting, as Jake put it, to "play big dick". But the fans are the ones who may get fucked by them.

Fair enough post there Erratic,.. but it was a very strained desperate sort of big-dick to be playing, when the Pacquiao camp was creeping the testing days down from 30,...to '24' ----- last offer,...last offer... then when that failed.. they hired a mediator and tried again,.. so that gives off a clear indication how badly they wanted the fight, and the enormous payday that it would bring,..but 'it takes him 24 days to recover from a blood test',.. is thier explanation, and obviously the groupies dont want to touch that,..so they invented thier own reasons on behalf of him ofcourse,.. I think it's pretty clear, that the risk of being exposed as a performance enhancing cheat, is the real reason for this fight never taking place... Arum and Roach would have been as furious and as frustrated with Pacquiao as they were for him not accepting the Hatton split initially, they would have publically urged him, publically pressured him, just like the Hatton fight, if he was clean,...... but they're not.... because they know what's going on,..and have roared and screamed at journalists with strings of exposed lies in perfect unison when questioned about it.

He didn't back down from the random blood testing with Pacquiao and got the same testing for the Mosley fight and will do so for all his next fights. That's about all he can do really, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Seriously this is easy as hell, if Floyd had refused the Pacquiao fight because he didn't want to put a needle in his arm 14 days before the fight NONE of the Pacquiao fans who are defending Manny would've defended Floyd, no doubt about it. The fight was there to be made, create a new standard for boxing drug cleaness and decide who is the best fighter of the decade all at the same time.

Pacquiao didn't want random blood testing, that's it.

DENIAL DENIAL DENIAL

Notice how the roidman fans are only denying the claims of him roiding up.

NONE of the roidman fans are even trying to give an explanation as to why someone would turn down the biggest payday of their life over random drug testing if they didn't do drugs?

This is essentially how I feel.

Change the rules now across the board, that would be good for boxing, and Pacman would have no choice but to abide.

Can Steroids Enlarge Your Head? What a change in hat size might mean for Barry Bonds.

By Michelle TsaiPosted Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at 6:27 PM ET[IMG]Barry BondsFollowing the federal indictment of Barry Bonds for perjury and obstruction of justice last week, media reports cited the baseball player's refusal to "admit that steroids contributed to his swollen head and bloated physique," and drew a line from his alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs to his "noticeably bigger" skull. Can doping really make your head get bigger?

Yes, but steroids can't. Although much of Bonds' testimony dealt with anabolic steroids, he is also charged with having lied about taking human growth hormones. And HGH can indeed affect the size of your noggin. The hormone, which is produced by the pituitary gland, normally stimulates bone and tissue growth throughout the body. If there's too much of it, the body starts to develop an abnormal amount of flesh and bone. This affects the entire body to some degree, but in some places the chemical receptors tend to be especially sensitive. In an adult, very large doses of HGH can cause the skull to thicken and the forehead and eyebrow ridge to become especially prominent. Hands and feet also grow out of proportion with the rest of the body.

Related in Slate
Daniel Engber debunked the myth that growth hormone improves athletic performance. He also showedwhy it's so hard to catch athletes who use HGH, and conducted a thought experiment on legalizing doping. Jeff Pearlman argued that undetectable (or undetected) performance-enhancers may still run rampant in the major leagues. Michelle Tsai asked how long 'roid rage lasts. Stephen Metcalf reviewed Game of Shadows.

Almost all adults with this condition, called acromegaly, have a tumor in the pituitary gland, and the changes happen so gradually that they might only notice after looking at themselves in an old photograph. If a patient is young enough that his or her bones are still growing, exposure to all that HGH will result in gigantism, the condition that Andre the Giant is believed to have had. But adults that develop acromegaly get thicker, not taller, with the most striking changes usually in the head, hands, and feet.(One book about Bonds claimed that his hat size grew from 7⅛ to 7½, a difference of about an inch in circumference, and that his shoe size shot from 10½ to 13. Bonds has countered that nothing's changed, saying in one interview, "My head hasn't grown. I've always been a 7¼ to a 7⅜ my whole career.")

The NSAC members are not changing the rules, unless they want to be buried in the desert. The casinos want the big fights and they don´t give a sh*t, if Manny takes a bath in a PED cocktail as long as he fights in Vegas and brings the gambling crowd and the dollars.

why hgh and not anabolic steroids?

it is just as easy to just cycle steroids and still piss clean. and steroids have a bigger effect on your body (especially for boxing) is it possible he takes stuff like epo? sure. but more likely he just takes anabolic steroids.

No.It should start with the boxing commission,so all boxing matches have this policy.Having fighters make the rules is stupid and dangerous

I think what Texas did was dirty and it made the sport and the fighters envolved look bad. That's why it needs to start with them

This would be the perfect fight to implement this change.

As far as I know though, Floyd has done nothing at all to make that change, he hasn't suggested to the NSAC or any other commision that they should be the ones enforcing it, and that these testing procedures should be a part of their rules.

But obviously they don't see the sense in drug testing do they?.. "No good cause".. which leaves it up to the fighters who have the power to implement it, the way it is being implemented in Fraud's fight with Mosely,.. Now if the strongest advanced drug testing system was being introduced into the fight featuring the two best fighters in the world,.. why should it matter that the commissions who say 'No good cause' for drug testing whatsoever, wont give it thier 'dirty' and contradictory blessing as you have correctly indicated above?..

Yeah but,.. it appears Bob Arum's got a bit more leeway over Fraud when it comes to influence,.. afterall,.. Bob used the commission in an attempt to save Pacquiao's reputation by ordering a 'random..but announced' obsolete urine test,.. while neither were in training preparing for a fight,..ie an absolute and insulting "front" and media ploy,... Bob also managed to convince the Texas commission to have no drug screening whatsoever for this latest fight featuring Manny Pacquiao of all fighters.

He went BEYOND of what ordinarily is required by the GOVERNING bodies, which is not Mayweather by the way. He agreed to 24 days of RANDOM blood testing and another blood test IMMEDIATELY after the fight with RANDOM urine testing throughout training camp.

What you have to ask yourself is WHY NOW? If not FEAR of going to sleep what? Of having May's 1st LOSS?

The TIMING is convenient to go on with his career without EVER facing a legit welter. Pacquaio along with mother nature, is already ruining his hustle of being the best without fighting the best and FORCED him to fight Mosley.
