Here's a pretty obvious question...

I hear so much about Manny not wanting to take an olympic style blood test.

Well, doesn't the commission take blood tests for HIV/AIDS about two weeks before a fight? That falls within the time period Floyd wants the test administered.

Why not use that blood and test it for PED's as well?

From what I remember, even a friend of mine who fought a long time ago when tests results were slow, he got his test about two weeks out and was good to go for fight time.

Tommy Morrison was the same way; in fact, Morrison had his blood work done in a week if I'm not mistaken, and I remember the fight being cancelled for "the flu", the night of the fight. And then the real news came out later.

    Help me out here.

Manny apparently took his blood test when he renewed his license back in January.

Im suprised he recovered from it in time for the Clottey fight.

Especially since it takes him 24 days to recover from one...and he took that blood test for the Clottey bout inside 19 days. Or maybe he might've thrown 2000 punches had the test not been administered so close. Oh wait, Arben is referring to another blood test! LOL.

While they can test for PEDs by blood, it's not just testing once. It's random testing done multiple times. Having it done the day you're scheduled to get your blood taken for other things isn't too bright, I don't think.

I pointed out the blood tests for diseases in a post some time ago. When I looked it up, I found that it differs somewhat by state, but for the most part you get the blood test between 10-30 days before the fight.

So, yeah, if the fighters agreed to the testing you could use the one blood draw for 2 purposes. But I think that would only solve one part of the impasse, since random testing is a big part of the holdup, not just one blood draw close to the fight.
