Edgar's got some good wins on his resume. I have no problem with him getting the title shot. Plus, he's a local boy I got to see fight in AC before he made it to the UFC. As for Hardy, he's not really deserving of a title shot, but GSP has beaten pretty much everyone else in the division, so he kinda gets the shot by default. Both cards have some great fights on them though, so they're both worth buying. TFK
Edgar??? How can anyone complain about Edgar? The dude has one loss, which was a very competitive fight with the undefeated Gray Maynard. But even more importantly, he is never boring or dull. He will battle Penn until the end of the final round or until Penn stops him. Geez, Edgar's been involved in 3 "fight of the night" winners in only 7 UFC fights. He is going to be entertaining even if Penn dominates. I think Penn-Edgar is a fantastic Main Event.
:bears: or Chuck Lliddell and Tito Oortiz, or Royce Gracie when he fought Matt Hughes. You'd rather watch those fights than Edgar/Penn or Hardy/GSP?
Good thread. When you consider the UFCs almost two decades of freakshows, mismatches, cash grabs and a general low level of sporting, it's hard to really pinpoint the worst. I'll have to think about it.
Nah, just speaking truth. Really though, what do you expect when two grown men try to kick, choke and punch eachother in a cage?
If Tank Abbott ever headlined a UFC event, he'd be my choice. He might have been strong, but he had a giant floppy beer gut. Hardy is a real fighter, not a novelty act. Hardy kinda reminds me of a lighter-punching Hamed. Big mouth, cocky, good puncher. That being said, George is gonna manhandle him. Hardy may have good power, but I don't see him staying away from George or keeping it standing. When he gets taken down, his chances of winning decrease by about 90%.
Hamed had much more boxing skill than Hardy does in MMA. If I had to compare Hardy to anyone, it would be Jason Litzau in regards to hype, except Litzau was portrayed as humble and never made it off of an undercard.
I think you HAVE to break this question down a bit more. The UFC really transformed as an org in 2001 when Zuffa bought them. They made it ten times more mainstream with stricter guidelines, rules, and weight classes(of course this was due to much pressure from the government). If I remember the first UFC after Zuffa purchased them was UFC 33. So lets let alot of the shit beforehand stay out of the discussion. Like Keith Hackney for instanceartie:
Matt Hughes was a top 5 fighter in the world when that fight went down. But another horrible one was UFC 106 with Griffin/Ortiz 2 as the mainevent. Neither fighter have any business headlining a PPV especially together:bangh:
I kind of thought that is what you meant:bears: I just thought too, UFC 115 could be the worst without even happening yet. Liddell/Ortiz 3:bangh:
Not sure if I get this. Litzau is a better boxer than Hardy because Hardy gets choked out by bums? :dunno:
