    Agree or disagree?

    From Fightnews...

One of the reasons IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko’s defense of the unified heavyweight title against Philadelphia’s Eddie Chambers won’t be televised in the United States is that HBO executives believe U.S. fight fans can’t tell the difference between Wladimir and his brother, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko.

For a while, Wladimir was hell-bent on maintaining a presence in the United States, and we were starting to break through with him,â€￾ Ross Greenburg, president of HBO Sports, told ESPN. “Unfortunately, at the same time, his brother decided to come back, so that kind of confused the consumer again in the United States. People have trouble differentiating.â€￾ The 51,000+ in attendance and 110 countries that ARE televising the world heavyweight championship fight have managed to differentiate between the brothers. What about you?

i figured they werent televising it because its a shit fight as are all of w.klitschko's fights and no one here watches them. not sure exactly what greenburg means, if americans confused him with his brother wouldnt his ratings be less pathetic?

I think Ross Greenburg is the least boxing savvy guy to ever run boxing at HBO. He's been completely lost ever since Dibella flew the coup.

I don't think the problem is we can't tell the difference between Vitali and Wladimir. The problem is we can't tell the difference between Kevin Johnson and Eddie Chambers.

I think it's the "W" in Wladimir being pronounced like a "V" which is exactly the same way the "V" in Vitali is pronounced.

If one was Bob and the other Ted, I'd be straight with it.

You said that the 'crabs in the bucket' syndrome was the most common amongst black people,.. and I couldn't disagree more,.. 'crabs in the bucket' syndrome is a hell of alot more prominent amongst the honkey gimp boxing fans.

What's the problem? They are both dominating right? Why not let idiots think they are the same guy? It's not like one is good and the other sucks. They are both good.

If you can't tell the difference you're not a boxing fan. So if they aren't catering to the fans what are they doing?

I think a lot of this ignorance is encouraged by the likes of HBO.....whatever about Greenberg, that moron who ran Showtime for years was a total fucktard. He was always on the brothers case.

If the heavyweight division is shit, and you take out both brothers, then surely that weakens the division further, right?

Ofcourse it does,.. but that's not the point,.. the point is,.. typical, parochial, conservative, beliefs, alongside racism, frustration, instability and fetishes. All those are the ingredients why these two large symbols, cause so much hysterical horror.

I'm just trying to understand both the broad, prolonged hatred they cause, and the absolute double standards 'journalists' dispatch when bashing them in headlines every two days.

It's not their fault but a lot of it obviously has to do with the competition, or lack thereof.

We've see from earlier in their careers, against better opponents that they are not invincible, but their opponents nowadays are making them look like they are.

They haven't improved markedly in the mean time, their opposition has just gotten worse. Wlad might have become a better defensive fighter, but he's turned into a stink fighter in the process. John Ruiz with KO power.

Vitali, I've always liked............but Albert Sosnowski? C'mon! Didn't this guy just get shut out on ESPN recently by Zuri Lawrence? :shit:

I know they don't have a lot to work with.........but that's just how it is, and how it's always been. Joe Louis, Larry Holmes, Ali in the 60's and others, faced the same type of criticism when the Heavyweight division went through weak periods.

Nowadays, it's magnified even more when guys are only fighting once or twice a year. If you get two walkover fights in a row that's basically the equivalent to a year of inactivity. Fans get frustrated because of that.

It might have something to do with the cold war we (U.S.) had with that region of the world for nearly 50 years.

Anyways, I reject the premise that either brother's the victim of xenophobia or racism. If Vitali or Wlad had the charisma of Ali, the KOs of Tyson, or the guts of Holyfield, they'd be popular here. They just don't.

Eddie Chambers is very good. I'd say he's every bit as good as Chris Byrd was at heavy.

They don't show Chagaev, perhaps the 3rd best heavy in the world, JC Gomez perhaps the 3rd best heavy in the world gets pushed onto espn classic and then shuffled around, they do show arreola and johnson...

it's just a freakin mess. If it was Sosnowski not getting televised, it might make sense--although I like the possibility of having one of the bigger upsets of our time being televised--but Chambers is really good and has already beaten a very decent and very large Dimitrenko. It should be televised in the US in English.
