Want to hear your thoughts on this WBO interim World lightweight title fight. I think Mitchell will outbox and outthink katsidis, win the majority of rounds and win by unanimous decision. It's not going to be easy, but i'm sure with Mitchell fighting at the venue of his beloved football club (west ham), he will go onto lift the title! Mitchell won 31 (23 KO's), lost 0, draws 0 - 74% KO success Katsidis won 26 (21 KO's), lost 2 (1 KO), draws 0 - 75% KO success
Good fight, I might go to this.... are tickets on sale yet? Katsidis is a tough fight for anyone, I'll be patriotic and say he wins by late stoppage.
Mitchells style tends towards defence-deficient, reckless trading. The fact that he tightened up against a much bigger, taller puncher and made it the distance is why I think he could shore up his defence and out-box Katsidis.
I agree with this, but I want to add that Katsidis is far superior to Prescott and will force Mitchell to trade.
Mitchell is a spiteful little bastard. I thought he was in all sorts of grief vs Johannson who was a big, baleful 130lbr {I mean a real rawboned git}...all of a sudden Johannson just got really slow....thanks to Mitchells bodywork and then BANG one left hook and that fight was over. Katsidis better not make the mistake of thinking that this kid is some softy.
That is the only fight you could possibly say as such. What made that fight such a surprise was that Mitchell, a known, crowd pleasing banger, decided to box and move for the first time in his life. One fight. In thirty odd. How the hell has Mitchell been boring? MTF :shit:
He started his last fight the same way. He caught the guy and KO'ed him in 2 but it looks like Mitchell is going to be more of a boxer and less of a slugger.
This is a massive test for Mitchell! He has to control this fight from the start, not get dragged into Katsidis's type of fight by trading blows, which could well happen and could see him getting KO'd! Obvious i know, but if he can use his good jab, good head movement and footwork, think positive and smart like he has done in his previous fights, then he should win the majority of the rounds and win comfortably on the scorecards. He might not have the KO power at lightweight compared to when he was at super-featherweight, but, if he can KO Katsidis it will make a huge statement!
It's how it works these days. You are as good as your last weld, it seems. Mitchell has constantly eschewed defence in exchange for crowd pleasing stuff- until the Prescott fight, which is why, IMHO, he has the tools to beat Katsidis. I mean, Mitchell cannot be any worse than Graham Earl was when he fought Katsidis.
