GSP had dominant position the entire fight. His ground and pound needs major work and his submission skills are suspect IMO. That being said, he did dominate in a boring fashion. Hardy couldn't do crap but that was expected.
Nah, he could've broken his arm/shoulder but he pussed out because he deemed it unnecessary. It would've been awesome had he been KO'd the next round. I love fighters like Aoki who go out TRYING to injure the other guy. He was also up front about it that he enjoyed snapping it with that amazing submission(hammerlock? who does that? :) GSP didn't, and I absolutely hate that.
nah, GSP wasn't that close to finish the sub, he didn't locked the elbows properly. He had very poor leverage
GSP needs to stop concentrating so much on the wrestling. You have it locked up bro, the wrestling is great. Time to start polishing the sub and striking.
I think GSP has finished evolving to be honest...his BJJ is pretty unspectacular and his striking good, but it looks like he's going to be strictly wrestling from now on..
I don't agree, I think he just does what he needs to do to win depending on his opponents style. Hardy was a striker, with shit take down defense. Of course he's going to take him down. At least he tried some subs. The only thing I would say GSP did wrong was he kept trying to take Hardy's back and he would just point his head down and GSP was sliding off and he kept on trying to do it. Pretty stupid IMO. He ended up on the bottom once because of it.
And Greg Jackson kept telling GSP to forget about passing and working a sub. He wanted GSP to pound Hardy inside his guard. I think GSP could have inflicted enough damage to get a stoppage if he just ground and pounded INSTEAD of experimenting with his BJJ.
The problem with GSP is that he's too good for his own good. He knows TOO MUCH to the point that he doesn't know what to do in certain positions because there's so much he can do. It's like a tennis player with so many shots in his repertoire, he doesn't really know when to make the right shot. I feel GSP is still a long way away from truly reaching his pinnacle as a fighter. He has not reached his best level yet. When he does, motherf*ckers are going to the grave! It's gonna be some scary sh*t, bitches!!! :kidcool: By the way bitches, do you realize how many years of training it takes to master 1 discipline in martial arts? It takes years. GSP is still a baby in his knowledge of martial arts and he's already this good. In 10 years, he'll be writing the Tao of GSP which will be read by kids in the year 3028!!!
GSP would do to Aoki the exact same thing he did to Penn but much, much worse. GSP is just scratching the surface of his talent. Anyone who thinks different is wishful thinking.
