Sorry bro, using Nog in your argument doesnt help much. He is beyond shot and is no longer considered elite.
I want to see Cain vs Antonio Silva, Werdum, Fedor, Barnett, Overeem, to name a few. I'd like to see him fight Dos Santos in an elimination bout to fight the winner of Lesnar/Carwin. I'd like to see Dos Santos against those same fighters save Werdum. Hell I'd even like to see Cain and Dos Santos take on the likes of Arlovski and Brett Rogers and even Semmy Schilt. The point here is, you gotta f*cking fight more than just 2 shot guys in order to be proclaimed a 'new breed of fighter'. You need to build a legacy or reputation by fighting a variety of fighters in the sport, not just a bunch of bums and then a couple of shot fighters who haven't done sh*t in years. Thus far, they've fought limited competition. In a year or so, only 1 of those 4 guys(carwin, lesnar, dos santos, velasquez) will be rated. And then about a year after, we'll have another new breed of fighters coming in.:: People are on the bandwagons of these guys because they're at the top respectively. Like they say, you're only as good as your last fight. Now let's see them in the sport for another 5-6 years fighting 2-3 times a year every year. And then we'll talk about their 'legacies'. It takes a very long time to establish a great reputation in sports. You don't just beat up a couple of shot guys and then be proclaimed a new breed of fighter. You have to go out there fighting the best as they come. The way Roger Federer does in tennis year after year. The way Tiger Woods does on the golf course, the way Jordan did during the height of his career. You don't just beat up a couple of shot guys in CroCop and Noguira who are well beyond their best days and then rest on your laurels waiting for your title shot while claiming to be the best in the world. It doesn't work that way, Trplsec. Not in legitimate sports anyway. Which is why the UFC is more of a business than a sport. If the UFC was actually a sport, then the next fight happening would be Cain Velasquez vs Don Santos fighting the winner of Lesnar vs Carwin. Instead, the UFC wants to maximize profit by giving all these guys respective title shots to sell future ppvs. Which I truly think is a big bunch of bullsh*t but that's just my stance on it. Now watch Cain Velasquez sit around for months and months doing nothing while Dana White rockets this guy to the moon as the most incredible speciman who ever walked the earth. And then likely he gets his ass raped by Lesnar or Carwin and we're back on this board talking about Cain Velasquez being an overhyped bum who beat a shot Nog.::  Just give it a year or so. I'll be right on the mark.
You know Gonzaga's record going into the JDS fight, right? Sorry GF. If you want a title shot, beat the best fighters in the world to earn your shot. Not a guy who's lost to most everybody out there.::
And using Gonzaga in his argument doesn't help either. F*cking Gonzaga got smashed out by old man Couture and Werdum. Gonzaga is a respectable heavyweight but he's not the guy you beat to prove you're ready for a title shot. There has to be another step up from him to truly prove you're deserving of a title shot IMO. But I guess with the limited comp out there, it's hard for them.
In hindsight, Randy was one of the tops during his reign at heavyweight before the Lesnar fight. He looked pretty muscular too prior to that fight. Musta gone off the HGH and roids.
Wierd dynamic. Randy did have a lot of losses, but he did have a crazy resume, and beat some good fighters. The guy fought everyone. He also did it all at an advanced age as well.
Wow. This is fucking hilarious. Silva? Uh, who the fuck did this guy beat? Werdum is decent, but got KO'd by Dos Santos already. Overeem is so fucking overrated it's retarded. He has not done shit in MMA. Nothing. Barnett is a good fighter, needs to stay off the roids though. That's twice now he's been busted. Fedor, I can't argue with but please tell me how anyone in the UFC is suppsed to fight Fedor? Infact, it seems pretty fucking impossible for anyone to fight him Period. Or else he'd be fighting Overeem instead of Rogers fighting Overeem. Ban Hanzy!!! ::
I was going to mention that too. He has beat enough people in the UFC to get a title shot for the UFC heavyweight title. Do you expect him to breach his contract and go fight in Strikeforce and then come back and fight for the UFC? Please.
So you proved my point then. The MMA heavyweight division in every company is basically a f*cking piece of sh*t. :: So who really gives a damn who beats who anymore. There all bums and clowns using your logic. LOL! ::
Why don't they make Dos Santos/Velasquez then? If you want to see who is the most deserving of a title shot, then THIS is the fight to make. Why the hell should both guys get respective title shots? Why not make an elimination bout so we can see who is the best out there? ::
The guy's lost it.:: He's put Cain f*ckin' Velasquez on such a pedistool just because he beat Kongo(while getting rocked in the process) and a shot Nog. So now Cain is superhuman!!! I love it how a guy can win a couple fights and suddenly all the bandwagoners jump on like he's the hottest sob who ever stepped into the octagon...until he gets KTFO! I'd give Josh Barnett, Werdum and heck, even Antonio Silva a damn good chance to smash out Cain overrated Velasquez. Mr invincible with his astonishing 8-0 record. 6 of those wins against some unknown bums.::
From reading this thread, I've realized something. Only the guys who matter in MMA are the ones who are either undefeated or are holding a title. So in the heavyweight division, the only heavyweights who aren't jokes or clowns are Lesnar, Carwin, Velasquez, and Dos Santos. Everybody else is apparently not worth a sh*t. Same with Strikeforce. The only guy who matters I guess is Fedor. So in all of MMA, we have only 5 good heavyweights. Everybody else is a bum. I dread the first man of these 5 guys who loses his next fight. He gets thrown in the 'bum' squad.::
They probably will. Shane wasnt injured and will go ahead and fight brock. Cain would only get the title shot if Carwin or Mir got injured. No cain needs an opponent. Most likely will be Dos Santos
Considering Werdum was knocked the fuck out of the UFC, by aformentioned Junior Dos Santos, Antonio Silva is even greener and much shittier than all four, Overeem is a ducker, overrated and a roider, and Barnett is disgraced after a laughable amount of positive tests.... Also Semmy Schilt.
Cain would absolutely destroy any of them except Barnett, except Barnett will have trouble fighting anyone outside of freak show in Japan because he's disgraced. :: Antonio Silva. He barely beat a washed up Ricco Rodriguez and you are trashing Cain for destroying a past prime Nog, a past prime Nog that would easily beat anyone on Silva's resume.
I hate to say it, but Nog absolutely robbed Ricco Rodriguez. I think that if he showed in a half decent shape, ricco would beat todays nog
