Anderson Silva will be defending his MW title against Chael Sonnen in the main event when the UFC makes its first trip to Utah. Adressing the contest and challenge before him, Sonnen had choice words for the champion regarding his most recent performance against Demian Maia:

“It was hard to watch…I didn’t watch the whole thing, but I tried. I saw the beginning and I saw the end. I was having plenty of conversations during it, I’m in the same boat as the rest of the world. Who cares? Nobody cares about Anderson Silva.â€￾

“He talked about retiring and nobody cared. He talked about going heavyweight and nobody cared. Now he talks about going to 205, and nobody cares! I did an autograph signing with Anderson Silva, there was a line around the building to get to my room. You could have heard a rat piss on cotton in his room! Nobody was in there. Nobody cares about Anderson Silva, it’s the hardest sell in the world. Nobody shows up to see him. If BJ Penn wasn’t on that card that building’s empty Saturday night.â€￾

“I’ve stuck my finger in this guy’s chest for 3 and a half years and he’s fought everyone in the world that isn’t named Chael Sonnen. I can’t tell you what a nuisance he is. This isn’t like some exciting thing to get to fight him, it’s just truly an annoyance, and I’m looking forward to it being over with just so I can move on and be done with the jerk.â€￾

“I don’t know if Anderson’s going to accept. The best I’ve seen, [Silva is] a man of his word. If I hear that he agreed, I’ll feel a lot better.â€￾

“He won’t even acknowledge the challenge. He just overlooks it like it’s not happening. The first and only time he’s ever acknowledged the challenge is on Feb. 7, 12 hours after I became the number one contender, he put out a press release stating seven different reasons he didn’t think he should have to fight me.â€￾

“[Silva is] really good, he’s really effective, and he’s as unpleasing to watch as grass growing. That’s why they called me to get rid of this cancer of the company.â€￾

“Nobody has challenged Anderson Silva. Not one human being, not one interview. Go to what the kids call ‘Google,’ and prove me wrong. Show me one athlete in any weight class that’s challenged this guy except me.â€￾

“What’s different about me is that I acknowledge Anderson Silva’s going to hit me and kick me. I acknowledge it’s going to hurt a lot. But I don’t care. I don’t care if he hurts me. I’ll go to the hospital later that night. But in that 25-minute period, he’s going to be in a fight.â€￾

“If he does it to me, it’s going to work. It’s going to make me angry, and I’m going to come after him. If he wants to throw those punches, by God throw them. But I’m going to walk straight through them.â€￾

“I guarantee you between now and Aug. 7, I’ll get hurt. I’ll get sick. I’m sure I’ll get a staph infection that seems to be the new wave throughout MMA – oh, I have a staph infection, wah. When my music hits those speakers on Aug. 7, I will make that walk. That’s a tremendous difference between me and the prima donnas who like to see their names on posters but are not real fighters.â€￾

I didn't know much about the guy so I looked up his record and found out that he lost to Maia 5 fights ago

Dana White = Big Moron! I can't wait till this dickhead gets his walking papers! He's not even responsible for the UFC's success. The UFC's success was due to the incredible popularity of the TUF series which the Fertittas thought of whereas Dana was completely against the series right from the beginning but now acts like it was his grand idea all along and that he's the one responsible for the UFC's popularity. What a f*cking clown!
This dipsh*t doesn't realize nor do his dickhead fans realize that the UFC would still be amazingly popular with or without Dana White. He's not that important to the UFC's future. The Fertittas should fire this chump and get somebody who actually knows WTF they're doing.
Dana White wasn't at all instrumental in the UFC's success. He's actually the one holding them back and he's also the one stalling the success of MMA as a sport. Money grabbing potty mouthed motherf*cker!

Not even close. Sonnen's a wrestler. He'll take Silva down. After that he will likely get submitted, but he'll make it a fight in which Silva absolutely won't just coast to a win.

Criticize White all you want, but saying he is irrelevant to the success of the UFC is bullshit.

It will be a boring fight but Anderson should finish it decisively. Sonnen talks a good game though lol.

He IS irrelevant! WTF has he done which couldn't have been done by somebody else in his position? He doesn't have any power. He's just a face in front of the cameras who makes the sport look bad with his potty mouth.
White wasn't instrumental in any part with the success of the UFC. It was the Fertitta Brothers who did everything. It was their money, and it was their idea to make the TUF show which exploded the UFC's popularity.
White isn't even a match maker, he doesn't have any real power in any way. He's just a guy who's getting a free ride off the blood of the fighters.
He could leave tomorrow and I bet you the UFC will not be any worse for the wear. Hell I think they'd begin creating better relationships with sponsors and becoming more mainstream.
White is a joke. Hell he disallows his fighters to even wear brand clothing and basically cutting a large percentage of their earnings.
Tell me what the f*ck it is that Dana White actually does for the UFC right now? Other than show his fat ugly ass on tv and trying to steal the spotlight off his fighters? Not to mention taking most of the fighters' money to buy himself Ferraris and sh*t?

I like Sonnen's trash talk, he doesn't just come out with the usual cliches.

He'll push Silva harder than Silva has been pushed for sometime....there won't be any coasting. Sonnen's ground and pound is vicious but i expect Silva will sub him

Sonnen is a takedown machine with very good ground and pound. His cardio is some of the best in the UFC. Yes, he was subbed by Meia 5 fights ago, but I hope we all realize there isn't any shame in that. Meia is one of the top 5 BJJ practitioners in the world. At least Sonnen wasn't afraid to fight Meia in Meia's world. Sonnen will take Silva down and Trplsec is right, Silva will have to fight off his back. But here is the big difference, Silva's black belt in BJJ will seriously be questioned because believe me, he isn't even on the same planet in BJJ as Meia or even Leitas.

Yeah, but keep in mind that Sonnen was also submitted by Trevor Prangley, Forest Griffin, Jeremy Horn twice, Babalu, and Filho.

If Silva is good enough to sub Dan Henderson, he is more than good enough to sub Chael Sonnen.

But the point is that he is going to HAVE to work to win the fight. And if his BJJ has slipped, Sonnen will punish him

I agree. He also was beat by Terry Martin. :shit:

Sonnen will not even get a chance to test his ground and pound on Silva. Silva will punish him on the ground.
